will I be required of a CEMAR (advisory on marriage index) during the USEM interview in Manila, Philippines, considering that, I got married in the USA? Hoping to be shed some light!! thanks!

Congratulations
Our case was completed today too, my wife just found that out after she called NVC, thanks to God and thank you VJ members! now we are looking forward to the inter view date .
when did you guys get to send in your packets or documents to them?
Some good news for my wife and I after a nervous couple of weeks waiting.
Our case has been completed today. Now we wait for an interview date. Medical is scheduled for next week. Perfect timing.
when did you guys get to send your packets or your documents to them, i mean, when were they received by NVC?
-
hi
way to go for sending all the stuff already! the thing is, after the receive all the stuff, they don't contact you until they schedule the interview. I had sent in all our stuff too and was curious about the status and called last week and it turned out they had given us a case complete. Kind of silly they don't send an email saying Case Complete, but maybe if you give them a call they could let you know how the process is going.
good luck!
Amanda
hi AMANDA, by the way, i've always loved such name...and yes, the docs were sent 27th and 28th..and Im just so paranoid, about the receiver's name, on UPS, it says, AMEN.. dunnow if he is an outsider, i really hope not!
They just received last week? The week before a national holiday? Give them more time.
yes, 27th and 28th, that's when they received it! sent prior to those dates of course..but NVC receipt date was 27th and 28th, im just worried, if someone whose last name is AMEN is an outsider..im going crazy...i know a DESMOND is a familiar name..
-
anyone here, whose documents were received by someone whose last name is AMEN? Im paranoid..does he even exist? hope he is not an outsider!
-
Hello everyone..My hubby sent our AOS and ds230 docs, on the 27th and 28th respectively..anyone here, received any notice from NVC yet?! and also, I am just being so paranoid...as per UPS tracking, my aos was received by Desmond, and my ds230 by someone whose name (last name maybe) is AMEN!? does he exist? I'm worried, if he even exists, and i hope is not an outsider
anyone...

I'm thinking that someone at the NVC isn't understanding what you are telling them. They probably think it is just a copy of the license and are not realizing that it has the marriage return included. If it has the marriage return, it acts as proof that you were married. Some states only issue the combined license and marriage return, some states only issue the marriage certificate. I believe it will be accepted when your documents are viewed by someone at the NVC. Try not to worry and keep in mind that I was once told by the NVC that my joint sponsors U.S. birth certificate would not be accepted as their proof of citizenship. They kept insisting that they would only accept a passport. hahaha I knew they were wrong and the birth cert. was accepted. Wishing you all the best!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for the hope it gives me!!!I really appreciate them, in the name of Jesus, I am pleading for this to go through..

The signatures are on the original (which looks very different from the certified copies). What I sent was just a certified copy. It contained just information on the groom, bride, and the marriage.
exactly saylin..its on the original, the signatures..but on the 'CERTIFIED MARRIAGE LICENSE', its plainly just the info about the groom and bride, and the marriage information as well..It's just really frustrating, how can I ever make them understand, that that's the only certification they Can and may issue..it just doesnt have the word 'certificate', that they want
-
When we got our marriage license, we took that to the minister who married us, he then after the ceremony, he signed a section at the bottom that contains all the details of our actual marriage date, along with our two witnesses, and he returned it to the County. When we went for our certified copy of the marriage certificate, what we got was a high-quality copy of that marriage license with all the signatures and marriage date info on it, centered on the top of the page, with all the legal certifications and raised seal on the bottom from the county. That IS our marriage certificate, and I noticed that "Marriage License" actually is the biggest word on the page, even though the document itself is actually our marriage certificate. I've heard that a marriage certificate from the STATE is actually requested in some contexts, and although we had an approved I-130 with no problem using this certificate, I wonder whether in your case, you might have to get a document from the state that has all the info from your current certificate printed up and typed into some standardized fashion...
I still don't understand, though. Have you actually been issued an RFE for this? Until you get one, I wouldn't start trying to decipher what they want.
I think that's basically what i am meaning, it's the heading of the certified marriage license..no word certificate at all..but calling up the courthouse, it's just the wording, but that's all they issue..unfortunately, we dont have the signatures on that certification, but just plainly the information about our marriage
-
A marriage license is a document authorizing a couple to marry and marriage certificate is given to the couple after the marriage ceremony. You must provide the MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE not the marriage license.
i do understand what a license is, and we applied for that of course so then we could get married..and after having gotten married, and the priest who married us, registered it to the courthouse, what we were issued was a "certified marriage license", with the information about our marriage this time, at the lower part..
-
I got married in the US as well (South Dakota), but our marriage certificate has the header: "Certificate of Marriage". Other than the header, everything else sounds the same as yours. Just wait and see if NVC accepts it or not.
For the AOS, your husband should NOT have rounded. This is grounds for a checklist. You MIGHT get lucky and have an officer that either doesn't notice or lets it slide, but be prepared for a checklist for that. I'd suggest you prepare another I-864 in the meantime and correct your mistake. The amount has to be EXACT.
saylin, did that certified marriage certificate you have, have the signatures of the witnesses, your signature and your hubby's and the officiant's? ours is only one-paged document, and really, that's all they issue, to basically certify, that indeed we are married and that the courthouse certifies it because the officiant of our marriage, submitted it to them for recording
-
No..It does not have the signature of the witnesses or the one who officiated the marriage..It's a one-page document issued to us by the county clerk/courthouse, after the priest who married us, submitted the marriage license (that have the signatures on it, that you're saying), to the courthouse for recording..And so, all we were issued was this certified copy from the courthouse headed 'state of Indiana "certified marriage license" whitley county', that have the information about me and my husband, and the lower part of it shows the info bout of our marriage when where and who married us..That's all they issue, that's basically the certification already, that we are married

can i merge my question here? I dont seem to have my posts visible, or am i just desperate for response
Hello Everyone..I just need help in having these all cleared off my head..
I was in the states with the k1 visa that I was previously granted before, thus, got married there..but due to complications on my timing of getting there, with hubby had to be away for several months, we decided that I just be sent back home without even getting the chance to adjust status. To cut the long story short, since k1 is a one-time entry, we had to re-do everything from scratch, this time, with the cr1 or spousal visa route.
We are now in the NVC stage, and have already submitted the documents both for the affidavit of support and Immigration Visa packet..What we sent in as for the "marriage certificate" requirement, is a certified marriage license issued by the county clerk..I called up the NVC about that, and they kept insisting it's not what they need.. I don't understand why they wouldn't accept it, when it's all the county clerk could provide for us as certified copy of. It's top heading is "certified marriage license", at the top part of it, is the information about my husband (fiance then) and me. then the lower part of it, is the marriage information, as to where and when marriage took place and as to who married us,,with a raised seal on it and the signature of the clerk..it's a one-page document..I called up the county clerk about it, and would insist as well, that's all they issue..We were not sent an RFE yet, but I don't know how we're gonna get through this, in case this comes up as an issue..Anyone here, experienced, getting married in the USA, and only got to sent with heading "certified marriage license"? Tell me about ur experience please...I need clarity..And also, as for the AOS, my husband rounded off the tax income for years 2009-2011, is it gonna be fine, or can we expect RFE for that as well? Thank you so much for response!!!

From reading similar posts, it seems that is ok. It isn't marked "Do Not Open", only the medical results. You should be fine-but don't let curiosity get the best of you-opened medical results will be a HUGE problem.
whats the difference of that medical result ur talking about? is it not the same as the cd xray im talking about? or are u talking about that which is in the brown envelope being sent to me by the embassy?

All this time though, I've been using my father's last name, and my mom, uses her last name of course, not my father's? In other words, my parents lied by saying they were married just so I can have my father's last name..Wont it be a problem?

Peeps, I am just really worried about what the medical result must have been? Is there any way, i'd know if i passed or not? I had my 2-day medical exam, on the second day was the immunization..then was given vaccination worksheet, cd xray and also the passport.. How do i know if i passed? Anybody who experienced denial due to a failed medical exam? Will they let u know anyway, if they found out something in the findings? Wouldnt it be their professional call to actually let the patient know of their health's standing? I am just confused?? and also, it worries me, I was given back my passport when it fact, the protocol is for the SLMCEC to forward it along with the result...Thank you very much and I am going to appreciate much your response to my concerns..
-
everyone! I just cannot help but worry! I am worried, because as to everything I've already read on, everything says that it is the SLMCEC that forwards the passport to the embassy..But in my case was that, I was given back my passport.. My passport was given to me along with the vaccination worksheet and the cd..But then im worried what that might mean..is there anything wrong with the result? Will that mean , me not passing? is it really the case, that they're the ones to send along the passport? Answers will be greatly appreciated, especially from those who underwent the k1 visa, especially recently or just this year? were you given back your passport after the medical examination?

thANK u for the response! they should basically know I was single when I married my hubby, fiance then, coz basically got to the states, with the k1 visa they granted me with..so maybe, i dont need to worry about being asked of something I cannot provide? coz as u said, i have no record of marriage here in the philippines, thus will not get to have a CEMAR,
