  1. Hello, Septemberites....sorry I was incommunicado for a bit, just got back from hubby's interview in Montreal....and he was approved! Even though he got a terrible case of stage fright and lost his tongue. He totally FORGOT our wedding date twice in a row. We had thoroughly prepared (I thought), but when the interviewer asked him if he'd ever had any problems crossing the border, he went off about how they had incinerated his souvenier cactus (that he bought while visiting, and despite the USDA approval stamp, Canadian customs felt it was threatening enough to throw it away)....now what they were asking, babe!

I'll post a full review shortly, but just one snippet for thought: the interview paper my husband received specifically stated that they did not need another copy of my proof of divorce as previously provided; however, at the interview, the second question that I was asked was for certificates of divorce. I am GLAD that I followed other's advice and brought copies of EVERYTHING with me, or it could have been a bad situation. Bring it all, baby!

Good luck to everyone! I'll post more as POE approaches.

  2. Eeee, another soon approaching interview! Make sure you double and triple check you have everything before leaving!

And just to make sure, your husband got his medical done, right? It's not showing in your timeline and I can't remember if you've mentioned it or not headbonk.gif

Yup, he had his medical with Dr Cheema's office in Vancouver (they took over for the now-closed Woking Medical) earlier in August, they sent him his results the same week, so he's got his "DO NOT OPEN!" packets to take to the consulate :D

  3. My dear husband's interview is next Tuesday in Montreal - I'm flying up Saturday to meet him there, we figured that we'll spend a couple days extra enjoying the city, since neither of us have been there before.

I've compiled the paperwork per other's reviews of the consulate's requirements, and we've gone over the questions, etc....I'm nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room of rocking chairs! All this time apart and now we may finally get to live together as 'regular' married folks take for granted....it's like getting married all over again! Argh!

I'm so glad to see everyone's cases seem to be making progress - hoping and wishing that we'll all be with our loved ones soon, forever :luv:B-)(L)

  4. My husband used Dr Cheema's office for his medical, and had a stellar experience!

He called on a Tuesday to make an appointment - he was on holiday for the remainder of the week, so asked if they could fit him in...and they could, 2 days later! Awesome.

It took him less time than anticipated to reach the office via taxi from the airport, and Dr Cheema's staff were happy to process him a bit early. He says the exam was brief but professional. Lab and X-ray were smooth and with only short waits (15ish minutes each). He flew back home the same evening, results made it to him Monday via Purolator (his medical was on a Thursday, and the results were mailed).

His only words of caution...watch out for crazy drivers in the adjacent parkinglot! Recommends Dr Cheema and his staff without reservation.

  5. Our case took a little over 3 weeks between the official "Case Closed" email, and the date our interview was scheduled. It was frustrating, as others who had case completes after us had interviews scheduled before us...but it is what it is.

  6. Are there anymore September interviews? To those of you who already got your dates what have you dont thus far reguarding getting ready for the big day?

I bought a clear accordian folder, and placed in all our documents, tabbed and collated for easy location.

I read our consulate's reviews (a couple hour's worth) and made notes, started going over particulars with my spouse.

Had lots of conversations about our occupations, plans, etc....things that are common to be asked at the interview.

  7. MS Saylin - a question:

We signed up for LOOMIS as per the instructions, and I understand the Montreal consulate wants you to present a copy of the Applicant Information page, which shows the reference number and selected LOOMIS location...however, if you try to print the page, it just comes out as blank. We've now tried this on three different computers with three seperate web browsers.

Does this page HAVE TO be printed, or can we just write down the info? And if it needs to be printed...how do we manage? Even tried to print screen with FRAPS, no luck, lol.

EDIT - nevermind, finally made it work :D

  8. Finally got back late last night from Canada after being there five days. Hubby and I went to his interview in Montreal on August 2nd and he was approved!! Eleven months after filing the petition and all the waiting. Planned POE is September 4th for either Lewiston or Buffalo, NY, so we're getting ready for it. Really excited that he'll finally be coming down permanently after so long.:dance:

Thank you so much to Saylin and all the others who were very helpful during our journey! I hope everyone else's journey goes well!

    That's just fabulous....so happy for you :D

  9. Hello everyone!

My wife had her interview today, August 2nd, in Vietnam and was approved! Her actual interview time was quite short, only about 5 minutes. She was asked about how we met (we worked together) and where we worked. After that she was approved so now we are just waiting for the courier service to deliver her passport with visa in it and for her to book a flight back to the US.

Everyone here has been very helpful, thanks so much!

    Good luck to all!

CONGRATS to you both! A lifetime of luck and happiness :D

  10. Hello folks,

Our case was completed at NVC on July 12th. I've been calling every few days since then to see if the interview date has been scheduled, to no avail. I've been told that it will be weeks for it to be scheduled, that the consulate only schedules on the second week of the month (which is not true - seen many VJers get dates outside of the second-week-of-the-month parameters). Today's new info - was told by operator "Greg" at NVC that Canadian consulates have ceased scheduling interviews until after September 10th....

What is the normal timeframe for an interview to be scheduled at Montreal after NVC "Case Complete" status? Has anyone else heard about this "no more scheduling until September" business? I'm frustrated with the Mushroom Experience right now (kept in the dark and fed manure).

    Any information is appreciated!

  11. Well, that's a new one from an operator blink.gif If another one mentions that, ask why it's been put on hold.

His statement was, "All consulates in Canada have ceased scheduling interviews at this time. They will begin scheduling again starting after September 10th, on a first-come-first-served basis from the previous queue". When I asked if he knew why, all he said was, "we're not told the reasons behind it, ma'am, only that they are not setting interview dates again until September".

I don't have the patience to call back again at this point. Though I do wonder, at what point do I worry if an interview has not yet been scheduled? A month? Two months? Longer?

  12. I was really, really hoping to be done with NVC by now, but it appears they just love me toooo much and want to keep me close and snuggly.

May-June-July-August. So much for a short transit time, lol

Called in to check on status of interview being scheduled today just for the giggles - Operator "Greg" tells me that interview scheduling for Canada has currently been placed "ON HOLD" until September....what? Has anyone heard anything on this? Or is it more fallacy along the lines of the "only scheduled on second week of the month" business?

Sending out good wishes for everyone to get speedy case completes and interview dates!
