  1. Hello all,

Well It's been a lot of work; but we got our forms completed and sent in.

I-129F received by lockbox on 10/26/11

    USCIS Acceptance Confirmation 10/31/11

    Paper copy (Form I-797) 11/9/11

Please wish us luck and a million thanks for all the great help, guidance, and good vibes from everyone here. This is really a journey to remember and man am I a ball of nerves :)

We do have a question though, how long generally will it take before our "receipt number" will work with the USCIS website? I keep getting a "not valid / not-found" error. Is this common?

Excited, scared, and just totally jazzed... wow... I hope to be married soon :) :) :) :)

    Cheers,

    M@

Hey, you're no too far behind us! Best of luck to you. Hoping for a speedy process for us all! :)

  2. Congrats on completing the first step! I wish you the same. Keep us updated on everything

Congrats to you too, not too far behind you! I will keep you all updated!

I was looking through the October 2010 filers forum. Looking at peoples timelines that filed the same time of year as we did, just the previous year. To get a feel for when NOA2's start getting to people. I know each case is different, and things change over time, but from what I saw, people who filed in October 2010 got their NOA2's in March/early April 2011. It seems like a while off now, but once we have that in hand things seem to go pretty quickly from there, as long as you're prepared.

I'm trying to being realistic, but still very hopeful that something will happen before then. Is it March yet??! :bonk:

  3. hi all, i'm about to start processing my papers for Fiance visa however my fiance is working in the Middle East and we're looking for someone like an immigration lawyer to help us process our papers/documents. Any suggestion how to start the processing for this when your love one is overseas? thanks. really need some help and suggestion.

    Hi,

I would advise against hiring a lawyer or anyone to help you, it would be a waste of money, unless you have complicated circumstances. It's not a hard process when you have people to ask and advice you on Visa Journey. Follow the guides on how to prepare your petition and the further steps involved in a K1 visa, or any visa.

    Good luck!

  4. Thank you,innocent.gif. Yes, we are talk massively everyday on Skype. I actually asked him to wait for a while after met in person a few months back in Singapore because I want to learn the process of I-129F and K-1 visa. I don't want to hurry. Better late than do mistake in the future. I can count on him for accuracy to check papers. He's the best.heart.gif

Yes, I commented a lot here just to see all people experience. It puts me to understand another people process, feeling ups and downs, and how to deal the waiting game of exhauting process long way before my fiance file our I-129F out later this month. I hope your journey smooth as well.good.gif

Also, as people have said before - for the I-129F it's more about having met in the past 2 years. So you need boarding passes, travel itineraries, receipts, anything to prove you have met and been together within the past 2 years. Skype records and emails, texts etc, comes later. It doesn't hurt to send it now. We sent some, Skype, Facebook messages etc, but focused more on my boarding passes, passport stamps there, and his coming here to see me. And photos together. We sent 10 photos of us together, at places in America and England. Photos are secondary "evidence" but help back up the written information you send. Make sure the photos are dated. I wrote our names, the place the photo was taken and the date on the back of each photo.

  5. Not yet. But we are starting to do the papers for this week. I've heard somewhere -through gravepine wacko.gif- someone got an RFE because he did not send enough for his relationship evidence to USCIS. I was like, oh man, it can't be happened to me just because my fiance refuses to send additional proofs. That's why I'm started thinking I'm going to get an RFE after the I-129F sent out later this month. Finally, we made some compromise of it. Especially that many VJers gave me many inputs. good.gif

Well don't worry about an RFE yet, if he hasn't even sent it... If you're not together in person at the moment you can help him prepare and arrange the I-129F on Skype together. That way you both have piece of mind knowing it's all there, correct and present, to the best of both your abilities.

You seem to comment on posts on here alot, I would have thought you and your fiance already had your petition underway.

The sooner it's sent the sooner you can be together. I wouldn't stall now, because you'll have months of waiting ahead.

    Good luck.

  6. We don't even have started yet. But, I'm going to think we will get an RFE for I-129F. The reason why, because my fiance only wants to follow official website USCIS. I have sent him K1 guide, I have done my research for a few months on this forum. I already have prepared everything all the papers we need, but he just wanted to send what USCIS writes on guide. Oh boy, at least if he's right we are on the right track, but if USCIS sends us an RFE, he will see that Visa Journey is correct one. whistling.gif, I just wanted he knows that I'm doing my best to avoid an RFEyes.gif.

Has your fiance actually sent the I-129F petition?

  7. I TOTALLY AGREE. even though we don't get to talk on skype a lot (since i'm busy with work) i still am able to contact my fiance through text. International Unlimited texting is expensive for me, but it's totally worth it. :)

Get instant messengers on your phones then you can text for free, instantly! :) My fiance has an htc phone and I have a Blackberry so we use Google Talk and message all day, all you have to do is both pay for a data plan. Which will work out cheaper than international texting.

  8. R and L your advice helps a lot, and it's good to hear from someone experienced in the matter too, thank you! :) Thank you Lainie B too!

It will be a lot cheaper to get them done here in England, most likely they will be free on the NHS. I will print out the list of vaccinations and take it with me to my appointment. I understand that there are some age appropriate vaccines and that it is down to the doctor at the medical to determine what ones are needed. But I think having the appointment with the Travel Nurse and getting most, if not all of them done sooner would be great and put my mind at rest, for a less stressful and less costly medical.

I really want to be prepared for the later stages.

Thanks again for your help! Much appreciated!

  9. I had an MMR vaccine - Measles, Mumps & Rubella - when I was little, and a BCG when I was about 15, which if I remember rightly is a Tuberculosis vaccine. This will be on record at my doctors, so they will know.

I've read that 2 injections are required, an Influenza jab and a DTaP vaccine, for the prevention of Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis. Is that correct? What about Polio and Hepatitis B?

It says that they are required on the USCIS - Vaccination Requirement page

  10. I have an appointment with the Travel Nurse at my local doctors on the 23rd November 2011. I have filled out the form for medical and vaccination history for the appointment.

I'm getting the ball rolling with this now so I'm ready when the time comes for my medical. Starting early in case I need follow ups etc, and to avoid costs of vaccinations at the medical. I know the cost for the medical in London is £210, and signifcantly more if you get the vaccinations there.

I've read conflicting information regarding what jabs are required for the K1.

Could someone who has had their medical in London and required vaccinations recently, please give me some info on what vaccinations they had done? I want to go to my doctors appointment with the knowledge in case the Travel Nurse doesn't know the specifics for a K1.

Thanks in advance for responses, and taking the time to read. Good luck on your visa journeys.

  11. I want to see it now! Looks more complicated than my/our situation, but I can relate to missing him, and the stopping and starting. Will keep an eye out for this film, it'll be sure to have me in tears. Thanks for posting!

  12. Did anyone else here have to wait for their NOA1? I sent in the form for a text or email, but nothing..

I haven't gotten the return receipt either. Now I'm worried, even though I checked the address several times.

Everyone seems to have gotten some kind of notification within 3 days, is there anyone else whose notification took longer?

    Thanks.

When did you send it in, and did you get a USPS or courier tracking number? My fiance sent our I-129F on Friday (Oct 21st), checked USPS tracker, it got to the Dallas Lockbox Sunday night(Oct 23rd) and he got the email NOA1 last night (Oct 26th).

I wouldn't worry, I've been looking at peoples timelines and some people have waited 9+ days for their NOA1. I know you want to know it's safe, it should turn up soon.
