  1. Wow.. you are truly right.. things we do for love.. You're lucky you aren't in an abusive relationship. Im sure you will find things to do and eventually get a hobby or a job that will keep you occupied. I have a friend who went thru all the same things for her visa and met her loving husband got married. when she came she had to deal with an alcoholic husband who was cheating on her too. the horror. then on top of that she had to adjust to america too. if you only knew the whole story then you would be grateful you didn't have to deal with all that #######.

  2. Same thing happened to me. I kept checking the website for my case status and its only when I got approved for the fiancé visa that they added it to the system! I don't know whats next for you but me, next was I had to wait for my packet to come. They mail it to your house and yes thats when you can buy your ticket! Id like to commend on your fiancé in afaganistan! my husband was in the military too and God knows how much these men sacrifice for the country. Hoooah!

  3. My wife needed to get a PCC from Japan. We don't have a request letter from the US Embassy. I called the Japanese Consulate and told them we wanted to get a head start on this since their processing time states it can take up to 3 months to obtain the PCC.

My Wife took her passport thats it.

It probably didn't hurt that the guy she spoke with was the same guy I had called and made inquiries about it. He had originally stated we needed the letter from the embassy but I told him we didn't have it and we knew we would need the PCC so we were working to get it done ahead of time so as to not lose any more time waiting.

We picked it up a few weeks later.

wow.. that is really good if it worked for u that way. sadly, we had to go thru a more complicated version. did u also have to the the finger printing at camp crame?

Hallelujah, God Bless your kind heart. Thank you so much for this info, this is what I had been trying to find out if we actually needed to make an appointment first before going to the USEM and asking for the letter. Again thank you for post and good luck on the rest of your journey!

thank you. i had trouble getting information so as soon as i figured it out i wanted people to know~ its very hard to be thinking and worrying a lot.. very happy to have helped u and good luck to u as well..

  4. This is just information on what I did for my Japanese Police Clearance.

    What you will need...

    1. Copy of NOA2

    2. MNL case number ( your case number from NVC )

    3. Passport

    3. Be early!

Before you can get a Japanese Police Clearance from the embassy of Japan in the Philippines, you will have to ask the US Embassy to furnish you a REQUEST LETTER.

I have read old posts before that you have to wait for your appointment letter and you they will not let you in if you don't have it. It wasn't the case for me.

My fiancee got our NOA2 in the mail. I had him scan it and e-mailed to me. Then after 3 weeks of waiting I urged him to call the NVC.

NVC then tells us that the file has been forwarded to Manila Consulate and gave us our MNL case number.

    -------------

So today I went to the US embassy and just told the security guard that I need a request letter. He immediately let me in. First stop bag check, then you get a number from the ticket booth. Then I entered door 2 and waited for my number to be called under window 38.

    ------------

The lady at the booth was kind and straight forward. I asked her I needed the letter.

    things she asked me;

    1. Do you have an approved petition: Yes

    2. DO you have a case number : Yes

    3. Passport : Yes

So I handed her my passport and the scanned NOA2 where I just wrote the case number down on.

After about 30 minutes she called my name and I got it!

    -----

I proceeded to the Japanese Embassy. They asked for my ID and I went in. I gave the request letter to the person in the booth and he gave me 3 forms to fill out.

After which he gave me a finger print card and a small sketch of how to go to Camp Crame for finger prints.

Proceeded to Camp Crame where I had my finger prints and paid. Then back to the Jap Embassy. They told me it would take 1 and a half months and I can follow up thru calling them.

  5. thank you all for the replies and ideas.. apparently not everyone know the term "follow-up." of course if you paid and are waiting for something very very important you wouldn't just be sitting around on your #### (excuse my language)... its your choice if you want to "follow-up" or not. I believe that if I call, it wouldn't be a waste of anybody's time because the people answering the phone aren't the same people reviewing the cases. they are placed there for people who need information and that's why we wanted to call. for information.

Im not particularly sure about what I said the "4mos." I said thats what I noticed.

Im just the same as everyone else, praying hard for time to pass quickly and that nothing goes wrong with the papers.

It was a filipino officer who answered all our questions and he hails from the same city I live in now. He was very nice.

  6. Hi Jim and Faith,

I haven't been ringing USCIS,so I can't speak on the veracity of the information, I have just figured we all just gotta wait. Most folks wait till the 5 months mark, when the website advertises that they are processing within the 5 months goal time. Then they ask for a service request, as in, why is it over 5 months. :crying:

VSC is currently operating on target, within 5 months, according to the USCIS website. There are still people on here who are over 6 months and wondering...So it is not likely that the wait is 9 months, but it isn't impossible either. Read around on the forums for a bit and start to get a feel for how long others are waiting. then you can add a pinch of salt, and guess at when yours might come through...

Welcome and enjoy the wait - you will never be who you are, doing this, ever again! :star:

thank you.. I've been reading a lot from the forum and been checkin on the VJ timelines and I see that most people get their NOA2s on their 4th month of wait. I just think that 9 months is too much specially if you don't go thru any trouble at all.. I mean if the process goes smoothly without RFEs and stuff like that. =) u think?

  7. Hello, Its me first time to write a topic and I feel that this is worth discussing since a lot of us are anxious waiting and most probably are calling the USCIS hotline. =)

My fiancé and I made it a point to call the USCIS a least once a month. We are on our third month now since we got our NOA1 on August 11. First 2 calls were okay.. they said the total wait time was 5 months. And that the processing of our papers were going smooth, nothing to worry about.

But the third call...... man that was a shocker, the officer said the wait time bumped up to 9 months??? I felt like crying.. I can not believe it. what does this mean???????

Has anyone had this same issue or is this officer just exaggerating? Id like to think that he is. LOL

Feel free to put in your comments and experience about this. Thank you and I wish everyone well.. =)

  8. im curious abput this list of food not to eat. and why is it that a filipina would feel at home with fish and rice? ive been joking with my fiance about this because he's been telling me that as soon as I get there the house is gonna smell like fish. and he said he doesnt mind to smell like asian. i thought it was funny but seeing this, hmmmmm... feels like a bit of a discrimination. FYI filipinos like beef too. We have a lot of beef dishes that you would die for. Ask your wife about making some and you'll know. =)
