  1. Might be a little too late to answer your question, But she can keep her name. I don't think it's a problem at all. My wife kept her name intact and it was never put in question. We'll only at the Social Security office, a clerk told me that if she's my wife then she must bear my last name. I had to school that lady saying that it's state law that a woman may opt for keeping her name, but obviously this was a lady that couldn't do her job right. But at USCIS we never encountered a problem.

  2. I posted a similar question earlier this week. I wanted to find out how most people are dealing with medical exams. I filed for a K-1 Fiancé visa and my fiancé at that time had a medical exam performed, they also look at her vaccinations. The problem I am having is that medical office in Ciudad Juarez left the vaccination worksheet empty. The rest was given to us in sealed envelope that we gave to the consulate.

When we got to the consulate they took the sealed envelope and kept it, we never saw it again. So…When I am looking at form i-693 it states that you need to show proof that you took the physical. So I called USCIS and the operator told me that I have to called Ciudad Juarez Consulate to request a copy of the medical exams.

Then I went to civil surgeon and they said you don’t need to request the exams, because if you’re applying for AOS within one year of the exam, then It is not required to do another ( but like I said, I don’t have proof because the consulate kept the sealed envelope) physical exam. What I do have is an EMPTY vaccination worksheet given to us by Ciudad Juarez Clinic, that the civil surgeon says that’s all that is needed to complete the requirements, BUT WHAT DO I DO WITH THE REST OF THE I693, DO I LEAVE IT BLANK? And only do the vaccination worksheet? Who is giving me the correct information? How are you guys doing it?

I called Kaiser and they said they can administer the vaccines Tdap/MMR/Flu shot.

  3. My fiance did a medical exam in cd juarez for a k1 visa. Now, in the application for I-485 its asking for a civil surgeon worksheet. When we went to juarez they gaves us one, and the doctor fill out the form with her name address and doctor signature. She showed her official mexican vaccination card and they told her she didnt need shots. However the worksheet is all blank in areas of vaccination record...are yours the same way? Can i submit the worksheet so we dont have to pay a civil surgeon again?

  4. Thanks for your guidance. Have a good weekend.

Now that the AOS is submitted, your wife entered a NEW period of authorized stay. Any other scraps of paper she has with dates matter not. You did it right.

Edit; Oh, you wrote 8/3 but you mean 9/3. So, when you submit, what I said will be true (once it is accepted for initial review). The post office is closed on Monday, so I don't think you'll be getting your package out until Tuesday :)

Youre right thanks for the correction.

  5. I am not exactly sure of your question, is it enough time to process her application. From what you have written you have met the terms of a 129-F by getting married in the 90 days from her arrival--there is no more "processing" done with it by USCIS. The AOS can be filed and it will be processed. Just make sure you have all of the required documents. It took me a week after getting married to get a certified copy of the marriage certificate to send with the AOS packet.

Creating a time line on your profile helps others

Dont we have a 90 day window to marry and apply for aos?

  6. There's no deadline for AOS, so I'm not sure what you mean about enough time for USCIS to process her application.

You had to get married within the 90 days period, and you complied; after that, you can file for AOS at your earliest convenience. good.gif

Really there isnt a deadline? Dont i have file within 90 days or when the visa expires? There is also a little paper they gave her when she entered the us and it has the date 9/29/2012...are you sure?

  7. Hi, I dont think you need letter from friends it sounds like what you currently have is sufficient. In my experience we only had a two page chat log from skype.

And another word of advice I can give is don't leave her alone, be with her in every step of the process. When I was in Juarez my fiance got a bit nervous during the interview and the officer ask her to go outside of the building to get me ( I am the USC). Luckily I stood outside of the building the whole time looking towards the door waiting for her to come out. Finally when I saw her I noticed a worried looked on her face. I was expecting her to tell me we were approved, but it turns out i was called in the building to interview. Well, everything turned out well, it was just a matter of language barrier and the visa was approved. But don't leave her alone.

Do you think it would help though ... and should it be notorized. I haven't seen much info on this so just wondering?

I filed a K1 and i was approved, in my documentation i did not have any notarized letters. I dont think you need such a thing in this leg of the process.

  8. Well it depends... if no one asks dont offer to give more information than what is needed. If someone asks you and its part of the application process, you know the answer to that. You have to be honest on all immigration applications, especially if it appears in a background check or police report.
