  1. If I'm in the US and the fiance is in South Africa, is it beneficial or necessary to fly to South Africa for the interview? Just wondering how understanding the consulate is since it is far and expensive. I'm hoping to not go so that I can use that money toward other fees.

Only the person who needs to be interviewed will be allowed in the building, it wont matter to them if the other half is standing outside or not..my advice use the money for something more beneficial.

  2. I am the USC so I have been here my entire life. My wife has been here two years next week. We get to file for ROC end of February 2013 and begin the waiting again. I have not heard of any denials, but there have been some people who have had bumps during this process and had to appeal a denial, but it was over turned in the end. My fear is that we have another interview and some youngish person whose own marriage could not stand up to this scrunity tells me that my marriage is not legit. I really hate Leavenworth especially in the summer  .

    Good luck,

    Dave

    I understand....where is leavenworth??

Here is the calculator; Filing Date Calculator

Denials are rare, put your proof and get it over-with. It another major hassle in the cog of USCIS.

    HI there,

What do you mean by "It another major hassle in the cog of USCIS"

  3. You have from 90 days before your GC expires up to the date it expires for USCIS to receive and issue your NOA1 for ROC. There is a good source here on the forum. Look for Removing Conditions on conditional green card. Your evidence should span the entire length of your marriage. Joint items like bank accounts, credit card statements, financial investment statement, deed or lease on primary residence with both names, joint tax returns, beneficiary on employer's benefits with other spouse listed, wills and power of attorney are considered primary evidence. Utility bills, trips together, and photos are secondary evidence. You just want to show them that you are co-mingling your lives like any normal couple and the marriage was not for immigration purposes to circumvent the immigration laws of the US. This is usually one of the easier steps to complete.

    Good luck,

    Dave

    HI Dave,

    Thank you for your reply.

Same here! My husband thinks I'm nuts for even worrying about this now (we can't file till 2013 :P)! Can't help it, I'm a worrier. :hehe: We have a very solid marriage, but just thinking about the paperwork and another long wait for them to decide our fate is stressful.

    Start here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/751guide

Tel me about it, i had to wait a whole year to get the visa in the start, but it was worth it in the end. How long have you been here?

    Dave & Caly,

Has anyone ever been denied ?

  4. My fiance had his interview on Nov. 22, 2011. On that day he was given a 221G requesting more documents. He turned those documents in today along with his passport. They never told him if he was approved or denied just said they would call him. However, they didn't give him any paperwork for when he's supposed to return and pick his passport up. How is he supposed to get into the embassy to collect the passport? :help: Should we be worried? At this point we're tired of waiting and nerves are frazzled so our minds may be working overtime. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hi there,

You guys can call the embassy or even email them, thats what the lady did that was sitting next to me, make sure you give your JHN..... number....

he wont be able to get inside the embassy without them confirming its ready, and if it was denied, they would have said that, so dont worry and good luck

  5. How can anyone answer a question like this without pertinent facts. An AOS or a ROC greencard? Was it approved? If not, talking a year or longer. Social Security doesn't have anything to do with a green card, except you have to have one in your hands before you can apply for your number. Or a work visa or a EAD card, that can take about a month.

    HI,I

If you looked at my profile you would see i am a IR immigrant , as i said i am home back in the US.

I know social security has nothing to do with a greecnard, however they both come in the mail, for family based immigrants.(As i only have experience with those visa ect. i can talk about my experiance )

but for the two cents worth thank you for replying.!!

  6. It could not have been easier entering through Newark POE. Emma was all the way through customs and out the door to me in under 40 minutes from the time the plane reached the gate.

She went through the visitors line because it looked to be shorter than the USC line, was taken immediately to the secondary processing for new immigrants, and waited less than ten minutes to get her passport stamped. She was asked no questions whatsoever by the first CBP agent--she just handed him the package and her passport, and no questions from the agent in secondary processing, and no questions going through customs, even though she had two GIANT suitcases plus a carry on plus a computer bag.

The only disappointment if you want to call it that is that the I-551 stamp is so tiny--we had both imagined some big, fancy stamp taking up the whole page, but no--tiny is fine !!!

She is home, we are doing all the little things that need to be done to get ready for winter, and life is REALLY, REALLY good !!!

    Congradulations :star:

  7. Hi Ladies and Gentlemen

I thought to start this thread to assist us all in understand the APs given at the Tirana ( Albania)consulate for missing documents.

Any of you who went through the interview or is preparing for one please list documents that you took or planning on taking to the consulate on your interview day. In case you were given AP please tell us what document and in what format were you missing?

In hopes to helping one another please do not hesitate to share your experience and/or your best practices .

I am planing on sending my spouse to the consulate to get a list of the docs needed for the interview . Not sure we will be able to get it without an appointment letter ( no interview date assigned)

One more question. Beside the $ 404 fee that is paid to NVC is there another visa fee payable at the Consulate. Please give instructions how to pay.

Hope we can all contribute a little to have some info in the Albanian portal like every other country in here

This is my list of docs that i personally think is needed for the interview

Please feel free to add to it or make suggestions

    1. A fresh copy of the DS-230 signed closed to the interview date

    2. A fresh copy of the I-864 signed close to the interview date

    3. Last 3 years of tax transcripts

    4. 2010 W-2 ( all of them if more than 1)

    5. Letter of employment issued close to the interview date stating date the employment started ,job title, status ( full time/part time)and salary

    6. Pay stabs ( NVC got all of them from 01/01/2011 up to the day i had to send the I-8640) so i am planing on just adding the missing ones to that pile up to the date of the interview

    7. Police certificates ( all three of them) issued close to the interview date. No need for translation and notarizing

    8. Original Birth Certificates for petitioner and beneficiary

    9. Original Marriage Certificate

    10. Copies of bio page of both spouses passports

    11. Divorce decree ( if any ) for both

    12. Pictures of the beneficiaries as instructed on the package IV

    13. Medical results

    14. PC Skype chat logs ( screen shots)

    16. Cel phone log showing skype calls, text messages, phone calls before and during marriage

    17.E-mails before and during marriage

    18. Phone cards tied to the cel phone log showing the 1 800 number dialed

    19. Home phone call log

    20. Pictures before and after wedding. Pictures from the wedding showing the couple with family and friends

    21. Greeting Cards

    22. Gift receipts

    23. Airline Tickets accompanied by the photocopy of the passport page showing the entry stamp ( I am planing on being in Albania when we have our interview so I will just give them my passport and wait outside at the coffee place)

    HI there Cipollina,

This is a great list I can add one thing, If you have FB, there is a download option, and it actually downloads EVERYTHING, some people use it for chat, others photo's.. ect.

    All the best Good Luck

  9. HI,

I just read this, and it makes me sick to my stomach! just wanted to tell you that you mustphone ICE, if you dont do it and report it immediatly, they will hold it against you, im sorry to hear this, and know that you have the support on VJ aswell as family, Remember writes dates and times down. I wish you the best and don't worry, Do your side, report him and then Justice will be served!

  10. Thanks for your input! Just to be sure, every certificate can be older than 6 months but not exceed 12 months, correct? Just making sure because one of them will have been issued for 8 months by the time we have our interview. Again, thank you very much for the help!

    Hi there,

Yes but make sure they wont be older than 1 year, cause then you will have to get new one's, if you see they are coming close to the one year mark, then i would get new ones for just in case..good luck

  11. That is what I thought, but strangely enough both my German police records show no entry. Now obviously, those police certificates are from a different city than the city in which I had my accident, but they still show up as "clear". I think I will call the USCIS unit next week and see what I can do about that. Maybe I can send them a new, updated DS-230 form?

    Hi there

I am not familiar with germany Police certificate, but if the Germany certificate should cover the whole country, and it still says "clear" then dont worry and leave it, but you must have a certificate for every country you have lived in, and you should add the 3 entries that you missed, but like i said if that certificate is less than one year old and saus "clear" for the whole country then leave it and their is nothing to worry about... thats my opinion...
