  1. 85 views and no reply? is there no one out there who has been thu abu dhabi?

    Hey Amy,

I am from Dubai and was interviewed at the Abu Dhabi Embassy. What is it that you are trying to figure out here?

My interview experience was pretty short and sweet. My wife is a Legal Permanent Resident and we waited a long time before the interview. It barely lasted 5 minutes though. I was NOT put in to Administrative Processing. They did, however, take my passport to run some checks but the issued the visa fairly quickly.

Let me know what you'd like to know.

    Good Luck!

  2. InshaAllah!!!!! THANK YOU so much for the advice and help. im so glad i found this website

    Mel,

I recently went through the process and received my visa and passport in under 3 months. Abu Dhabi is fairly good with this stuff and most AP's here, from my research online, don't seem to go past 6 months. As long as your case is legit, you should not have any issues and your husband will get his visa inshAllah.

My case had complications and even then all went well by the grace of Allah.

    Stay Strong,

    :)

  3. Can you please fill in your timeline so that it shows your information as well as where the beneficiary is coming from and what your filing for? All that would help with your answers.

Thanks Abbas But its been 4 years since our process started (Mine is an F2A visa) and I just don't have all the dates outlined to update the timeline section of this site!

Been away from wifey for 4.5 years now!

The same thing happened to my fiancee at the South African consulate. When I called, they said not to worry because they had it in their system that it was on file. That if he needed if for travel before the visa was issued he could come and get it.We have also been waiting for about 2 weeks, also.

    Thanks Ochili

Were you guys given an idea/timeline of how long this might take? I hope they come back quickly! What kind of visa were you guys being interviewed for?

  4. Post Interview - The consular took my passport and said she needed to do some immigration checks.

She took my email address and phone number and said the Embassy would be calling soon.

I asked if i needed a receipt, token or paper in return for my passport and she asked me not to worry.

    Its been 2 weeks now!

Im just a bit too confused now! Has this happened to any of you?

  5. If the IO did not question you in the interview, move on, or hopefully you corrected the answer at the interview. It will take about a 2 months. If you get an RFE respond quickly, have some one review your forms and read and reread everything.

I was not questioned about the particular clause that I had checked off as YES. I was asked about my previous Visa Status violation which I eventually found has nothing to do with this and I may have delayed my own process unknowingly!

  6. Going off what you said above, to me it seems like you would answer that question with 'no' since you were ordered to remove more than 5 years ago.

If you want, you can always write 'see supplemental sheet' on that question, and on a separate sheet, write out the circumstances you had with leaving the US and mention that although it was more than 5 years ago, you still wanted to explain, just in case.

Actually , I answered it as a YES. I have been interviewed already and they are doing additional checks. I was forth coming about everything. Just worried if I answered it accurately or not! And if the YES should actually have been a NO!

  7. Ok So I am SUPER Confused about this one. I am really bad with understanding clauses since I tend to over analyze them

I was in the US on a student visa and took up unauthorized employment. Towards the end of 2003 i was reported and put out-of-status. I continued on with my education at my university but the following year around sept/oct I was apprehended by the USCIS and put into removal proceedings. nearly an year later, I was granted voluntary departure and left the country as instructed in 2005.

I've never returned to the US since and was rejected visit visas on 2 occasions since.

Fast forward 6 years - I have an Immigrant visa interview coming up with a certain question in the DS230 leaving my stressed.

Questions 40 h. "An alien who was previously ordered removed within the last 5 years or ordered removed a second time within the last 20 years; who was previously unlawfully present and ordered removed within the last 10 years or ordered removed a second time within the last 20 years; who was convicted of an aggravated felony and ordered removed; who was previously unlawfully present in the United States for more than 180 days but less than one year who voluntarily departed within the last 3 years; or who was unlawfully present for more than one year or an aggregate of one year within the last 10 years."

To date we have been told by the Immigration Judge, USCIS Interviewing Officer and NVC that I will not be looking at any ban/bar since I have been out of the country for more than 6 years now. I am however wondering if the answer tot the above question is a YES or a NO?

    Opinions appreciated!

  8. hey Guys.

My interview went well on 8Dec 2011 and they put me in Administrator process.I am from Pakistan and working in Dubai(UAE), the prob is i am losing my Residence visa of Dubai.UAE and also Job, i can change my UAE residence visa while AP , or i can travel back or other country while this process? Is there any effect on AP if i do these things?

    thank you.

    Asad

Can you share your visa experience?

Why did they put you into AP? What reason was given?

  9. From what I understand and have heard from other Green card holders is that you can file an application stating that you will be staying outside the country for the most part of the year and not returning frequently. Once this is approved, your wife should not have any issues traveling as she pleases during this period (I believe its more like a 2-3 year approval). This should protect your wife from losing her GC!

  10. one month advancement so i would say March 15, 2009

    Hey Everyone!

I am a novice to this blog and am wondering if I could have anyone share their experience with me. I am the beneficiary (Spouse) waiting for my F2A visa. My PD is Feb 08 and my interview is scheduled for this Dec 2011.

Everything got submitted to the NVC by my wife and I am curious to know what to expect at the interview. Have been in a relationship for over 10 years and been married more than 4 years now! Don't think there is any thing to worry about in terms of proving my relationship. However, I have a blemish on my Immigration records in the USA with a prior voluntary departure due to Unauthorized employment while on a Student visa 6+ years ago.

    Opinions?

    Thanks!

  11. Thank you and all the best to you too!

  12. Finally after a long wait of 4 months 11 days, the administrative processing on my case completed on Oct 11.

I got notification from the embassy to drop off my passport for visa issuance. I dropped it off on Oct 16 and collected it today.

As it was DCF in our case, the entire process was very fast. We had our first interview on March 22 & I received the visa on Oct 23 so exactly 7 months in total. The only thing that tested our patience was AP. Believe me guys if your case is in AP as well for a long time, all you need to show is patience, keep yourself busy in work, sports etc and some day your wait would be over.

A big thank you to all VJ members. Indeed, I got a lot of help from this wonderful forum.

Congrats! What was the reason for putting you into AP?

  13. yes she is working here.

Were you able to figure out if it if your visa situation will be ok with the embassy? I have just realized that I might end up being on a visit visa as well by the time my interview rolls around since I got laid off recently and my employment visa will expire soon. Dont know if its any of the Enbassy's concern if we are on a resident visa or visit visa when interviewed! Views?

  14. Congrats!

Question - Why did you get put into AP anyways? Did they give any specific reason? I have an upcoming interview as well and worried about the same! Also, do you know if being on a visit visa in the UAE at the time of the interview would raise questions? I got laid off a while back and have not landed a job yet. Might have to be in the country on a Visit visa instead of nothing clicks till the interview!

  15. Looking for experienced views.

I have an interview coming up and the DS 230 that was submitted to NVC did not include information about my Unauthorized Employer in the USA. (I had received voluntary departure over 6+ years ago)

However, I did include all Voluntary Departure documentation with the Originals submitted. I have no intentions of concealing any information - I simply did not recall dates of my employment when filling out the form.

I wanted to know if I should bring this up at the interview before going under Oath and signing the DS-230 or should the fact that my voluntary departures are in their possession and will be available for them to review, during the interview, suffice?

Also, what really happens in Administrative Processing?

  16. You do not need the originals at the interview, the NVC sends the originals back to the embassy so make sure you ask for them after the interview. Congrats on your interview. My case is complete at NVC effective yesterday. They said Jordan had no capacity for a November interview, I am hoping in a few weeks they tell us the interview is in December.

I have an interview coming up as well and had submitted all originals as requested to the NVC. They said they would forward everything to the Embassy. The letter sent to me states that I need to carry all originals (I will be taking all the copies of everything I sent to NVC) and the I-864 needs to NOTARIZED. I read in a few places that Notarization is not a requirement! Did you have to face this?

  17. Hi

I have an Interview coming up and had received voluntary departure due to unauthorized unemployment (was going to University in the USA on an F-1 visa) and returned to my home country 6 years ago. Got married nearly 4 years ago with my girlfriend after being in a relationship for nearly 8 years.

Im wondering if anyone knows or has been through similar stuff.

My wife is an LPR and our case is now at the local Embassy.

I have submitted all originals including voluntary departure documents at the NVC that was eventually forwarded to the Embassy. Nothing to hide and my wife was told at the time she got interviewed by the USCIS officer that no ban exists and I should not have any problems getting it!

    Still stressed though!

  18. Hello Everyone,

I’m looking for real experience-based feedback on my case since I am looking at an interview at the US Embassy in the next couple of weeks.

A brief on my current situation –

    • I am currently looking at returning to the US after marriage (my spouse is a Green-card holder/LPR)

    • I departed the US, 6 years ago after receiving Voluntary Departure due to Unauthorized Employment and not attending University for a semester.

The history on my stay in the USA and voluntary departure –

    1. Moved to the US on an F-1 student visa in Jan of 2001. I was attending university all through my stay except for 1 semester (the one that I was caught in)

    2. 2003 end – I was reported to be working off-campus and put out of status by the International Student office.

    3. Sept/Oct. 2004 – I dropped out of University for a semester and was planning to head back home to possibly get re-instated and re-enter with a new I-20. It was here when I got arrested by Immigration officers and put through removal proceedings.

    4. The process lasted almost another year and I left the US and reported at the local US Embassy in Sept 2005, complying with the ruling of the voluntary departure.

    5. The Immigration Judge told me that no ban would be applicable to my case and I could return as long as the Embassy granted me a new visa.

    I-130 and Return process –

    A. I have been with my spouse for 10+ years (we dated for nearly 7 years before getting married 4 years ago)

    B. My I-130 was filed early 2008 in the US by my spouse.

    C. My wife was interviewed by the USCIS officer last year and file moved to NVC for further processing. At the interview, the immigration officer clarified as well that no ban is applicable in my case and we need not worry.

    D. All necessary original documents (including Voluntary departure documents) were forwarded to NVC upon request.

    E. Finally, NVC has moved my file to the local US Embassy and I am awaiting my interview.

    Questions –

    1. What should I expect at the interview?

    2. What kind of questions could be posed?

    3. Is there any real threat of being rejected entry? (I returned in Sept 2005 and 6 years have lapsed since)

    4. Any bans that may still pop-up?
