Thank you KASH2011. Can you also update the field office to Baltimore, MD?

  2. If you got the interview letter, you'd be knowing the exact interview date? Have you received the interview letter?

I wasn't clear in my previous post. I checked the case status online and it said "On November 10, 2015, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number NBC*XXXXXXXXXX. We will mail you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice."

I have not yet received the letter in USPS mail. I am hoping that it would arrive in the next few days.

Now my question is, IF the interview date happens to be on or before 12/16, can my wife travel on her non-US passport (12/16/15-1/6/16) after her N400 interview but before her Oath ceremony?

    Thank you once again!

  3. Hello friends, Can someone please update our status with the following information:

    In Line : 10/15/2015
    Int ltr : 11/10/2015
We had to move from Virginia to Maryland in October '15, so our field office now is Baltimore, MD.

I also had a question - My wife is travelling abroad from 12/16/15-1/6/16. If her interview takes place on or before 12/16/15 (her travel date), will she be able to travel abroad with her current non-US passport?

    Thank you in advance!

  4. Does anyone know: if we move while my N-400 is pending , will the procesisng of app halt for the next 90 days (until I meet the residency requirement), or 90 day rule applies only to the time immediately preceding submisison of the N-400 to USCIS?

I know changing of the address alone will delay processing, as they will be transfering the case to a different district. But is it in addition to placing a hold on the case for 90 days from the time you notify of your new address?

I would like to know the answer to this myself. I have recently filed for a change of address application since we moved over the labor day weekend.

  5. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up.

I wasn't sure I would be able to make my fingerprint (biometrics) appointment, so I called USCIS to see what other options would be other than rescheduling. The representative told me that I could just do a walk-in and they could take me earlier. I went in the day before (my day off), and they told me the complete opposite: They were only taking people with appointments. If I couldn't make an appointment, I had to reschedule.

This was a location in Los Angeles. I'm not sure if other locations are implementing the same, but it's just something to be aware of.

Did you go to this very office for your "Removal of Conditions" fingerprinting? Did they allow you to do a walk-in fingerprinting then?

    Just curious...

  6. Hello Friends,

My wife is currently a green card holder, who will be applying for citizenship in the next 3-6 months. Once she obtains her US citizenship, she would like to apply for her mother (her only family) to come to the US with a Green Card. My wife's mother already has a 10 year multiple entry US visitor's visa, which she's used to come visit us thrice already without any issues.

We are exploring the option to apply for a I130 & I485 during one of her future trips, once my wife obtains her US citizenship. I have the following concerns:

    1) Will USCIS frown upon our application given that she had expressed no immigration intent when she had initially applied for her visitor's visa a couple of years ago?

    2) Should I choose the more conventional option of I-130 followed by NVC processing then interview at the US Consulate abroad?

    3) Is this process simple enough for me to do it by myself? or is a attorney recommended for such a process?

    4) If we choose to go down the I130 + I485 option, would I need to prove that a life situation change lead us to apply for her green card while she was here in the US. A situation that we could not foresee when we were planning her travel to the US x days or months ago?

    Please advice!

    Thank you in advance...

  7. I agree. I don't think the case worker will check your Facebook posts and pictures if your supporting documents are sufficient and does not raise any red flag.

On posting messages and pictures on Facebook or other social media, use your best judgement. Search for "big data + social media analytics" in a search engine. It's real, not science fiction and banks/insurance industry has already started paying special attention to this technology. I have no reason to believe why the federal government wouldn't be interested in the next few years (or decade).

  8. From all the reading that I've done, for now you need to resubmit all these documents again specified in the 221(g) note (I know it's a pain in the a$$) to the US consulate office. If they approve your petition, then good otherwise, they'll have to give you a written reason for denial. Of course, they can give you another 221(g) if they need more documents from you...

Unlike your tourist visa application from before, IF they are attempting to reject your CR1 application, the case will be sent back to USCIS office in the US. Your spouse will then have the opportunity to appeal the decision and would potentially want to get a lawyer involved.

Best of luck and sorry that you've had to spend so much time away from your spouse. I know how that felt!

  9. Also, from reading some other posts,it sounds like your refusal was for lack of documentation and not for administrative processing. So, I'd suggest that you try to find out EXACTLY what documents will satisfy the 5 missing criteria by contacting the consulate and try to send them the documents. Your case will remain open for one year from the date of 221(g) date by when you need to supply them the documents.

    Good luck again!

  10. It could be that, but my wife's uncle, who was a career Indian Navy person was granted a 10 year multiple entry visa. The difference is he was in his 60s and was honorably discharged (retired) before he applied for his visa.

Now, I get the funding (as in how will your spouse support you once you reach US soil), travel dates (dates when you and your spouse travelled, met each other etc.) and reference (get a few relatives and friends to attest that they were present at the wedding) part, but not sure what research and position means and what sort of documents they require to satisfy these requirements.

  11. Hi there, from your posting, it appears that this time around, you're applying to migrate to the U.S. On a CR1 category green card and during the interview, you were given a 221(g) slip.

Was your passport returned back to you? What was the color of your 221(g) slip? What documents are they requesting from you (the reason they're not issuing you a CR1 visa)?

I know that when my wife went in for the interview at the Mumbai consulate, the CO asked her to provide documents that we'd already provided when we filed for I130. It's not unusual for them to ask for the documents again at the interview.

If you have the documents already, then take them with you to the interview, if not, ask your spouse to send them to you (the latest copies) asap. Also, some members have noted that if spouse accompanies CR1 application to the interview, it helps with the case. But I'm not sure if US citizen spouses are allowed for the interview at Mumbai consulate.

Finally, I had gotten a 221(g)when I migrated to the U.S. Several decades ago. The 221(g) was issued because my birth certificate was missing. In my follow up interview, they only asked for the birth certificate and issued me the visa.

My 2 cents.... Good luck friend!

  12. Yes, I believe so. I was in the same situation a couple of years ago. For a visitor's visa, I supplied the following information:

    1. Letter from my employer stating that I am gainfully employed with them (suggest that it have a date that is relatively close to her interview date at the US consulate)

    2. 3-4 pay stubs

    3. Bank account statements (showing a few thousand dollars) for the past 2-3 months.

    4. An invitation letter in which you are inviting your in-law to come visit you to the US. Mention that you will bear the financial responsibility for her airfare, stay, food, clothing and any medical expenses (if needed) while in the USA.

That was it. My MIL had a 5 minute interview and the embassy issued her a 10 year multiple entry visa.

    Good luck!
