  1. Hello!! maybe someone could help me on this one... my husband came over on a K1 (through his uk citizenship) in October 2013 and we got married in January but decided due to a lot of circumstances that we are going to live in the UK. well he left the US on day 90 of the k1 visa. he plans on coming back here for a few weeks in September before i move there but his UK passport expires at the end of this month. His irish passport is current and he wants to just come over here with the irish passport. I told him that it would appear shady but he disagrees......anybody got any thoughts??...any input would be much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Hello,

Our I-797 expires on May 30 and we have not been given an interview date yet. Everything else has been done, paperwork sent, medical etc. Should i send a letter requesting an extension or is it something automatically done? Even if i did send one im not sure it would even get to London by next Thursday anyways!!..Thanks for any help..:)..

Also does these seem ok for an approval extension?? (i edited it from the original example on here)

    To Whom It May Concern,

It is my understanding that the consulate can extend the approval notice if my fiancé and I remain legally free to marry and continue to plan to marry after my fiancé enters the United States.

    Therefore, please be aware:

    • My fiancé and I continue to be legally single and free to marry.
    • My fiancé and I plan to marry within 90 days of his entrance in to the United States.
    • Our 1-797 approval will expire on May 30, 2013 and as of May 20, 2013 no interview has yet been scheduled.

I sincerely request that you extend the approval notice so that my fiancé, xxxxxxxxxxxx, may receive the K-1 visa.

  3. hello!! im filling out the 1-134 form for my dad who is gonna be a co-sponsor with me.

    1) question number 2: my dad was in the military and stationed overseas many different times. Do i need to elaborate on that in a separate sheet?

    2) im only using his income and not his combined income with my stepmother. So for question 7 do i just put his annual income? (he makes more than enough)

    3) question 10: Does he answer this with my fiances information or just put N/A?

Thanks for anything help anyone can give!!!

    :P

(also should these forms be notarized?)

  4. Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the I-134 affidavit of support question 1.

My future mother in law will be cosponsoring me. She was born on a military base in Japan and has a US birth certificate. How would she answer the citizenship question? Would she say that she is a US citizen through parents? I don't think she has a Certificate of Citizenship though, because she has a US birth certificate. Or would she attach a letter of explanation? I will be getting a copy of her birth certificate, so would she just fill in when and where she was born and attach her BC with the APO#?

I'm hoping someone else has been through this situation.

hello, Im in a similar situation..Im going through the K1 process now and i was born on a military base in japan too.....On the 1-129f form i put citizenship acquired through parents and i checked NO for certificate number and wrote " see birth certificate" right above it)....I plan on picking the option B for question 1 on form 1-134 and giving a copy of my BC..What kind of BC does she have???..DS-1350??...CRBA FS-240??....The birth certificates issued to citizens born abroad state on them that is a birth of a citizen abroad so it basically states your a US citizen... I didnt give an explanation letter which my original paperwork and it was accepted and i dont think i will with the 1-134 since the Birth certificate states their a citizen......i hope this helps some!!!...... ( It was hard to find any info on this myself so i kinda had to figure it out myself even after calling the USCIS)

  5. One of the most common things people tell me when i explain my long distance relationship situation is "you have never spent large amounts of time with him, how do you know things are gonna work out when you finally get to live together"......does anybody else hear this from people too??....i get the whole soulmate/true love/meant to be together stuff but does anybody have the conversation of "what happens if this doesn't work out"...now before anybody starts with the "if your saying that already then somethings wrong" comments, these kinda questions are legitimate stuff to consider.....thanks for reading..please no a**holey comments..thanks..:)

  6. They changed the form numbers but your documents are still valid proof of citizenship. Google the forms and you'll find lots of references. Example http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_825.html

On January 3, 2011, the Department of State began issuing a new Consular Report of Birth Abroad (FS-240). You may request multiple copies of this document at any time. As of December 31, 2010 the Certificate of Report of Birth (DS-1350) is no longer issued.
All previously issued FS-240 and DS-1350 documents are still valid for proof of identity, citizenship and other legal purposes.

    Thank you!!!!

  7. hi everyone, Im filling out the i-129f forms and i have a question about #10. I was born abroad to military parents. I have the Form DS-1350 Certification of Report Of Birth of a US citizen and i have the Form FS-545 Certification of Birth Abroad of a citizen of the USA...I do not have the FS-240 or a recent passport (I haven't had a passport since i was 6 and i'm 28 now)..Would what i have work or would i need to get the FS-240 or a passport??..thanks for any help...........:)

  8. To repeat what ive heard from everybody since i got into a long distance relationship, you never really know how a person is until you live with them..It seems like you guys have not been together very long at all...I understand what your going through i grew up in a house like that all my life...When you live with someone else you become beholden to them....Its not your fault because you had no idea what you were getting into!!!..i would try to get a job asap and not have to rely on his family whatsoever...This probably wont be the last dealing you have with his family so try to stay out of there way....Make sure you have all your important legal documents with and not left at the grandmas house!!!!!!....I agree with some of the other people there is a possibility he could be like them as well so keep numbers to the police etc with you at all times...try to make some friends of your own in case you need somewhere else to stay if something happens...i really hope things get better for you!!

  9. Ok here's my situation.. I haven't applied for a K-1 Visa but i plan to next summer. I graduated in May with a BS but haven't had much luck finding a better job so i'm stuck at my retail job for the moment(ive been working there since June 2010 but only about 20-30 a week average so im technically part-time). At my work you have the option of becoming a dog groomer (full-time). Which is good pay and over the 125% poverty level. My issue is when i start the training (October, 2011) i'm locked into a 2 year job contract (if i don't stay 2 years they will make me pay 4,000 which is the cost of the training). The reason i was even considering staying was when i need to fill out the 1-134 im assuming stating your in a job contract would be good for proving you have a stable job and can support that person. My other option is turning down the offer to go and just looking for something better but i wont have been at the job very long when i need to fill out the 1-134....as far as the past three years tax returns i was not working in 2009 and i only made 7,000 in 2010. This is year will be probably around 13...but next year is will be way over the 125%. ( yes i'm aware of getting a co-sponsor ( i have some in mind) and to be honest i'm surprised how easily people can get someone to do that for them..lol)...thank you for anyone who has some kind of advice or opinion. Most of my friends and family have never had to deal with this kind of process and have no insight at all on what i should).....:)

  10. Another question I hope to get a reponse to is, my wife is pregnant. So I am concerned that maybe they will look at my income level for an addtional person now even though the baby isnt born yet. Should I worry about this?

Secondly, what if this process takes so long that she goes into labor in her country, do I need to start this process over again or can I add the baby into the processing?

Gosh this process is stressful, you always have questions and just dont know what the outcome will be. :(

I agree about the stress..... i havent even started the process yet and my stomach is in knots over all the things that could happen

  11. Hello Everyone!!! Im new to this website..my question: I plan on asking my dad if he will be a co-sponsor. (I'm working full time now but wont quite make the 125% level this year) I was wondering if he agreed once me and my fiance were married does my father have to claim him as a dependent on future tax returns? I haven't started the K-1 process yet and i'm just trying to cover all my bases before i ask him. I'm also curious to know other people's experience's with finding someone to co-sponsor their fiance. I would appreciate any help or advice. Thank You!!! :)...
