  1. I was just looking at the June 2014 filers page and it looks like everyone from the CSC got approval within months of their biometrics. Is that true? I looked up a couple of the peoples' timelines and their timeline also says they got their approval and new green card within months of their biometrics... I though it takes a year (maybe 6-8 months at best).

We did our biometrics as can be seen in the list. Is their anything I can do to check status? What is the next step, do I just wait for an interview notice or approval in the mail?

    Thank you in advance!

  2. I commend your ability to use, "penultimate" and "gargantuan" within the same sentence but it is unnecessary to belittle me with pedantries. I am aware that most of the paragraph is a bit excessive and, quite frankly, is written poorly however many other examples on this forum have a very similar tone. I was simply asking for a bit more elaboration so that I could delete the paragraph in its entirety and then consider replacing it with content relevant to any suggestion you may have.

Obviously I would be an idiot to let this stop me from taking your advice as you clearly have more experience than I. I don't appreciate a mod belittling a person asking for help on a forum specifically designed to help inexperienced people.

That being said; Thank you for your advice. (and yes that is sincere)

  3. Hello everyone,

I do not have to file I-751 until May but I would like to be extremely proactive. I know it is a lot to read but I am already freaking out and would greatly appreciate anyone being able to review my cover letter and evidence list. We are both honest and hard working but I am a worry-wart and all the horror stories are making me feel sick. It seems too wordy to me but I just want to make sure I am thorough and do not get a RFE. Please suggest any evidence that has been proven to work, or suggest to remove items that have shown to hurt.

Thank you so very much in advance.

    1) Hopefully the cover letter is clear that we live at my parents house; so I don't have any utility bills, mortgage, etc to provide. Also I was under my parents car insurance before my wife got her driver's license. Once she did, I put the cars in my name and got an insurance policy covering us both.

    2) Also, will it hurt if we don't have joint ownership of our vehicles. We have two and they are both in my name (it seemed ridiculous to have their titles in both our names but I see a lot of people doing it on here--there is no loan, they are just cheap beaters that I payed for with cash.)

    3) I also have several credit cards under my name but they are not joint. I had no idea you could have joint credit cards. Should I change them so they are joint...If so, will it hurt my case given the fact that I changed them to joint accounts just a few months before submission of I-751? **would it look suspicious?

Nature of Submission: I-751 JOINT PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF STATUS ON:

    (K-1 VISA) <LAST NAME>, <First name>. A# ###-###-###

    Dear USCIS examiner:

Enclosed please find a JOINT I-751 petition for removal of conditions of permanent resident status regarding my wife, <NAME>. Please also find a check for $590, the fee for this form including the additional biometrics fee. My wife entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa and received her conditional residence upon our marriage. We are happily living together and request that this petition be accepted for removal of conditions for her residency so that we can continue to grow together both personally and financially.

Enclosed also please find the following documents to verify the status of our marriage and ongoing relationship:

    • Check for $590, the total fee for form I-751 and additional biometrics fee.
    • Form I-751
    • Copy (front and back) of permanent residency card for conditional resident (<her name>)
    • Copy of our marriage certificate showing <her name> last name changed from maiden name.
    • Photographs of both of our families together at various events/occasions. (Back sides are labeled with personal information)
    • Various photographs of us throughout our relationship. (labeled on back side with relevant information)
    • Three sworn affidavits by U.S. citizen relatives, attesting to our relationship and marriage.
      • Including affidavit from my parents that also explains their home has remained our place of residence and that we do not have any utility expenses, mortgage, etc.
    • IRS tax return transcripts for 2012 and 2013.
    • A partial copy of our 2014 joint US tax return.
    • Letter from my company of the designation of my life insurance showing beneficiary as <her name>
    • Copies of car insurance information showing joint coverage. (Please note that prior to this insurance policy’s issued date, my wife did not have a driver’s license nor a vehicle and therefore I was solely under my parents coverage policy)
      • Included copy of previous coverage under parents’ policy for confirmation.
    • Copy of current vehicle registration showing both our physical address on document.
    • Copy of our joint checking account information held with TCF Bank.
      • Various statements from this account addressed to both of our names at current address
    • Copy of our joint saving account held with TCF Bank.
      • Various statements from this account addressed to both of our names at current address.
    • Copy of our health insurance cards, including dental insurance, showing a joint policy and coverage.
    • Copies of medical records showing <her name> recent surgeries and our payment to health provider. Statements are also addressed to current residence.
    • Several of my paychecks showing payments of health insurance, life insurance, and 401K plans.
    • Copy of our T-Mobile Cell phone bills and payments for our joint coverage.
    • A copy of both our Minnesota state-issued licenses with current home address.
    • A copy of <her name> manicurist license received from state of Minnesota; addressed to <her name> at current (same) residence.
    • Various letters and documents mailed to <her name> and I (<my name>) at current residence.

Please note that <her name> and I have been saving our finances while I attend college. As such, we have not yet purchased our own home or taken any loans including those for new vehicles and therefore cannot indicate such shared assets as supporting evidence above. We have been living at my parent’s residence throughout the entirety of her residence in the U.S; as reported in the previous and current immigration documentations. This has been a wonderful opportunity for both of us to live comfortably while we can grow together personally and financially. We have been attempting to grow our assets and family together as best we can. Please feel free to inquire at any of the sources of enclosed documentation for validity of their statements, and any USCIS person(s) are always welcome to visit our home should you ever desire to do so. The evidence listed above are exact photocopies of unaltered documents; the original documents are freely available upon request. Please also feel free to advise me if you have any further questions or concerns related to this petition.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Sincerely,

    <my full name>

  4. Hello everyone,

    Background:

My wife received her work authorization card through the I-765 documentation back on May 13th of this year and will expire in May, 2014.

My wife has just received her green card (Sept. 10, 2013) through the K1-fiance process and therefore has conditional status. This will need to be renewed as well (a long ways away).

    Question:

    1) Does the green card count as work authorization? Basically, I am wondering if I even need to renew her EAD (I-765) in may if she has a green card?

    2) I am a bit confused on my green card renewal. Since there is conditional status on it I must do a Lift of conditions through the I-751. When must I do this? Is it after two years of marriage or is it when I renew the green card.

2B) If she is going to become a citizen do I even need to renew the green card (I-90)? Or do I just lift the conditions? Does the green card expiration date mean that I have to lift the condition or renew or both?

Sorry If I am confused, and yes I have read the guides multiple time so I am genuinely confused here and need a more thorough explanation.

Thank you for your time and patience.

    -Ryan

  5. The system is often not up to date.

    No

I have been trying to view the status since february. Is that typical? From what I've seen (checking other similar timelines to mine) The receipts typically show up together, while they can take a while to show, they do typically show up together; it also seems that most people have received their cards within weeks of acceptance of AOS.

  6. Hello all,

Hopefully this is not a repeat post. So I turned in the paper work for a I-485 in conjunction with the work authorization (I-765) document. I receieved two different receipts in the mail (with two different receptih numbers). I am able to see status on uscis website for one of the numbers (the I-765 one) and it shows that the card has been sent in the mail. Hoewever, while trying to see the status for the other receipt number (I-485 one) nothing shows up and it says nothing can be found for that number.

My questions are, is the work authorization card the "greencard"/ permanent residency card? and also, if I receive the approval for this wrk authorization card, does that mean that the AOS was accepted as well?

    Thank you in advance.

  7. Seeing that I sent my package after the OP, I just wanted to give the OP a response of my current status.

This morning I received my notification via G-1145. They signed for the package on the 24th of February and today is March 5th, for a total waiting time of 9-10 days. I send my package to the Chicago lockbox address. Since you have already contacted them and they suggested waiting 10-15 days, I would wait that period of time but after 10 days I would keep calling them until they can help. Hang in there, I'm sure they will notify you when they open your package. Even though they told you they open them in 'order' they are usually in a big mail bag and can be shuffled around. Keeping my fingers crossed for your notification to come soon!!!

  8. Hello everyone,

I am getting ready to turn in the AOS/EAD paperwork for my (now wife) who is here on the K1 Visa. We were married within the 90 days and have had no issues this far. As I am filling out the I-765 I am concered with my answer to item 16. "Go to the Who may file form I-765? section of the instructions. In the space below, place the letter and number of the eligibility category you selected from the instructions. (for exaple (a)(8), © (17) (iii), etc.).

I currently have (a) (6) as my answer which is for K1 fiance of U.S citizen. But I see © (9) in the tips and exmple forms on VJ. Reading the definition of © (9) it seems as if this for people who file the EAD after AOS is in progress. Since I am filing together which one should I select. Normally I do well on these forms and do not get confused but these categories are confusing. Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.

    Thank you!

  9. Hello all,

I just have two quick questions as I am currently filling out the necessary paperwork for the AOS process. I am the petitioner for the K1 visa and I am now filling out the paperwork for my non-ctizen fiance'. Now that we are married (within the 90 days) do I write her new (my) last name on the forms or do I use her maiden name?

Also, one of the forms I am looking at here says I will need to provide a copy of her I-94 front and back... The I-94 from port of entry was given to the immigration officer, so how can I obtain this? Or do they mean the stub that was stapled to the page in her passport?

    Thanks!

  10. Hello all,

Very excited today, me and my fiancee just got into the USA and everything is well! Upon our arrival at the port of entry (chicago) we handed over our K1 visa package to the officer. He stamped some things and took the package and we moved along. My question now is, what happens to this package and where do I begin now, I am in Minnesota and the officer said he will send the package to Minneapolis but I didn't know there was a USCIS office here.... What do I do from here.

    Thanks!!!!!

  11. My fiance has her interview in Cambodia at the end of September. We did the whole engagement ceremony out there with the police and all and received no such paper. This is just a ploy to get more money. I paid 300 for the right to throw the party. If you are really worried email the embassy yourself and they will get back to you within 24 hours. Just have all the forms on packet 4 and you'll be fine. The US Embassy knows about the corruption there and will tell you that the form is not needed.

Interesting, you said that you had the police at your engagement, or was it just approval before your ceremony? For my engagement we just told some people at a government building within the sangkat that we were going to have a party. I do not know the specifics of this since I am not a fluent speaker and it was handled by my to-be sister in law.

  12. *** Moved back to K1 by OP request. We find that regional questions usually get more and better qualified answers in the regional forum- because engagement certs really do not exist in other countries and you may get "wrong" answers from members from other countries- but it is up to you. *****

If you honestly feel that I may receive a better answer in regional then it is fine with me to leave it there. You know better than I. I appreciate your help greatly. Sorry if I came off a bit strong, it was not my intention. :)

  13. There is no such thing as "Engagement approval" and "engagement certificate".

The reason you hear this is that, if you get engaged the local authority wants you to ask them for permission = equal to bribery $$$.

So now getting married in Cambodia is very difficult due to BS requirements from Cambodia, many people tend to do K-1, that raise a question of this issue.

    You will be fine.

Please report back after the interview, I would like to hear your experience. Hope this will relax you a bit.

My fiance has many friends who failed the interview and did not have this "form". She also has several co-workers who ALL have this form. For some reason those people are telling her it is manditory. The problem is, we were engaged last year and if we get this "form" now it will be verified after the fact. I tend to agree with you ont he fact that this is a type of BS bribery, the government center that told us they can make the form wants 300$ US for this. I almost wonder if paying this 300$ bribe is worth it just to be safe. I would hate to fail the interview over something stupid.
