  1. Yeah the accordian file will be fine, and money/credit for the fee. Also make sure you have registered for DHL and have your appointment confirmation printed off the visa info website... it lets them know you are registered. However if your appointment was scheduled for you, there is apparently a number you need from DHL confirming you are registered... alot of people were being sent away for that.

  2. I had mine yesterday, I got there at 6:45 and was second in line, most people don't show up until after 7, go grab yourself a coffee or something, cause its bloody cold waiting out there!! And dress for the cold, gloves, hat etc... cause they don't open the doors till 8. Make sure you carry your papers in a folder or something, but not in any sort of bag/briefcase... alot of people got sent away (including me)for having a bag with their paperwork in it, even if thats all thats in it... I was the 2nd person in but 1st interviewed and out... when you get into the elevator go to the back, as it opens at the back, go around the corner ( to the left) and get in line 14B for your number. It was easy once your in there!! Just make sure you have your paperwork in order, they will ask you for each thing individually. Oh by the way, you don't need your X-rays, thats apparently for your medical records once you get to the states.. good luck!!

  3. Oh thats fantastic about the health insurance!!! If you don't mind me asking, what company were you able to go through?? I think we spoke about me having a preexisting... I can get it through my hubby's work but its expensive!! That is so great to hear everything is going well, and how nice they are at the embassy!! No worries about emailing me, I understand!!

  4. Thanks so much Soulmates :) :) I can't wait to be done!!! I booked my plane ticket down on Dec 3rd so I'm there for my birthday/holidays so I sure hope my passport comes back quickly!!! I booked it 14 days after so hopefully that is enough!

I have everything organized in an expandable file, and all of the copies separate in order of the checklist, so hopefully I'm good :)

  5. I can't believe the day is almost here, my interview is tomorrow at 8:30, I am so nervous!! Anyone have any tips??

PS: we are staying at the travelodge, we had to park 2 blocks away and its going to cost $20!!! The room is super small (me and a friend) so its 2 twin beds, the bathroom only has a stand up shower... its clean, and the service seems good, but overall I should have spent $20 more to stay at a better hotel!

    POE

    Congrats, that is so awesome!!!

Thank you all doe your kind words and support!!! VJers are THE BEST!!! :-)

The mover arrives Sat. I'll be applying for my SSN in 10 days and will post if any any issues arise in case there are others who will be coming to Indiana. The wedding is Dec. 3rd and we'll be applying for the AOS the following week.

  6. He doesn't have to, just as long as you and your daughter have your visas, you won't need him at the border! Having said that, I'm assuming if you guys are moving your stuff, it'd probably be a lot easier if he showed up, just my two cents :)

Yeah we are thinking of coming back in a couple months and getting our stuff...he wants to come up, but we can't afford for him to take the time off. We want to be down there for the holidays though, so we are basically going down to visit for a month or 2...

  7. Our interview is on Nov 18th, so excited!!! We are trying to decide our travel arrangements and I was wondering does my husband (sponsor) have to come up here to Canada and accompany us(our daughter and I) across the border?? Or can we just go down there and meet him in Colorado??

  8. Hello all :) Super excited to finally know so many of us have secured our appointments :) I have a question about the I-864... because my husband has been a Canadian permanent resident for the last 3 years all of his income was here in Canada. Because of this the amount stated as our 'adjusted' gross income on our U.S. tax returns is significantly less (I guess because there are deductions when stating "worldwide income") then our actual gross income. One year is even stated as $0... anyways, what I'm wondering is this going to be a problem when it comes to the I-864?? His current job pays him more then the 125% above poverty guideline...and his actual gross income in Canada for the past years is also above the guideline, will the amount stated as the adjusted gross income effect this?

  9. Yeah I have spent the day on the phone trying to find out some information about this, but ofcoarse I have just been sent on a wild goose chase, total waste of time, I really don't understand why it would be so different for me, both are sent to Montreal, I went over all of my paperword that I have received from them and it definately instructs me to book online. Hoping to see some interviews soon! Thank you.

  10. I'm so confused, I was told to schedule my appointment online by Montreal but my visa class is IR1/CR1... Is this because it was a direct consular filing instead of through NVC?? I wish mine would be scheduled, I have been checking online since August 1st!

  11. EXACTLY!!!!! Well said soulmates, I personally know someone in England who had there interview within a month... I completely agree if they would just open up the calender so we KNEW would be so great!!! Thats exactly what I said to the lady I spoke with, I wouldn't mind it being in February as long as I knew!! Anyways I am done posting on the thread today, other then if there are appointments :)

  12. I have also done unlimited amounts of research on this topic, also dating back past 2004. That's great that you have received responses from Montreal, good for you. I'm pretty sure we all know that this is not the first thread to think of starting a "letter writing campaign" I don't really care...this is us, now. We just want to feel like we are doing something to help us be close to our relatives. I'm not hoping for anyone to have a bad day, just hoping they will do their job. Everything is computer generated now, not only does it take away jobs from people, it also moves away from any form of personal communication, it is very frustrating for everyone involved.

I wonder if you have realized that you are not the only one with a brain on this site?

By the way, why are you so defensive, if you don't agree with the thread (which by the way began as a way to notify others of appointments) then don't subscribe to it!

  13. Dualhammers, I do agree with you, absolutely I do not expect "special treatment" I understand how many others are also trying to get appointments. But 2 months of refreshing this page and wondering if there is something you are missing is very upsetting, and I think each of us is hoping that although it will not "fix" the system, maybe it will get them to release a few appointments, maybe not, but hopefully it will get them to take notice that there is an issue here. I have sent many emails today but I will not continue for weeks on end to do this, because as you say it will just increase there workload. As for the weeding people out, that is also true however they should do more weeding out during the application process if that is the case, instead of sending pkt 4 well before there are in fact interview appointments available.

Also in terms of the blame not being put on the embassy.. Montreal has noted problems with response times, and appointment times. I recently emailed Vancouver and had a response the next day (actually written) and when I replied I received another written response. I have also done this with Ottawa which replied within a few minutes...I understand Montreal has more on their plates in terms of immigration but the staffing should account for that and real responses could be sent within the 2 week time frame given. There email outlines that they basically do not reply for anything, and calling gets you no where as it is all automated... something has to give!!?

Our "inconvenience" of being away from our family members is far greater then that of the embassy, sorry! :/
