Medical exam expired after 1 year

Me and my wife have a similar situation. She arrived in December of 2013 and we sent our AOS packet the beginning of February. Around June we received a letter from the USCIS about interview waiver selection and notified us our case would be delayed 6 months to 1 year. On December 23rd we received a intent to deny letter asking for our medical examination record which we did indeed send but expired on 8/31/13. She originally had it done in the Philippines. So that brings me to my question. Since they were so slow with our case do we now have to have the examination done again by a civil surgeon here and send it with the I-693? To give us a notice of denial and a 33 day deadline to submit the I-693 seems absolutely ridiculous. We're gonna schedule it Monday and hope we have enough time. Me and my wife are both kind of freaking out about it. Not sure what happens if they decide to take their time on this as well
