  1. Yeah, I agree with you. The majority of the responses in the thread were either sympathetic to the poster or agreed that USCIS basically sucks. While there were a few posters that had no sympathy for the OP, they were in the minority.

    I feel his pain!

Sorry, my bad. You guys are right. The majority of responses were great!! I guess when there is a bad element around, it tends to stick out to me more than it should.

Thanks for all of your support!! Good luck to you all!!!

  2. Feel free to read what I wrote again.

I understand why people enter the process. I do not understand why people whine about it after entering it. Good grief. Seriously?

I have never complaind about something I chose to do.

Ok, works for you. I on the other hand do not feel this process is effective. It is an insult to the American people and there is no acceptable alternative. As such, I "voluntarily" entered this process, and I am pissed about it. I also understand why others have entered this process and why they are upset. Perhaps there is something your trying to say I'm not getting, because really, I do not see or agree your view.

  3. As I told you, there is no secret, and no way to bypass it. Having knowledge means knowing that. Being mature means accepting it and planning for the future which goes far beyond the visa

So if there is no way to bypass it "as you already said", then why can't you understand why people voluntarily enter this process? As you stated bellow.

"What I never understand is a person voluntarily entering a process, paying a large fee to do so, and then complaining! If you do not like waiting for the ride at Disneyland, don't go to Disneyland and don;t pay a lot of money to get in! I mean at least at Disneyland one could argue "Why wait 3 hours for a 2 minute ride?" but in this case we are talking about a lifelong committment...unless it is a hassle."

Great, why don't you tell me the secret to bypassing this to bring her here to live legally. I am very open to not "voluntarily" entering this process if it can be avoided. I'm all ears.

  5. Vent and never forget. This process is an insult to the USA. Always remember the way the Government has treated you and when you get the idea about Government run health care, think about this process. When the Government wants to get a stronger grip on education remember the way they handle immigration. When the next great solution comes from Governemnt, remember what you have been through and what you are about to go through.

When they drop all the rules for illegals, don't forget how you were handled. Don't even think about voting for a politician that wants to grant amensty to illegals when you have done it the right way. All of the USCIS apologist in VJ must not have any experience dealing with an efficient Government or business. There is no excuse for USCIS. It can be done better. There is no excuse at all for this system and I don't understand anyone that thinks there is.

I am going on almost 18 months now that this Government has separated my wife of 27 years and former green card holder from me and our youngest children. The last status was they lost our final paperwork we submitted last month and had to resubmit it a few days ago. That is just one of the many failures of the USCIS we have experienced, not to mention their original fatal error they made that caused all of our trouble.

Now that is a rant, but you need to get a dose of reality, something the typical USCIS(INS)apologist sometimes seem to forget.

Wow!! Yes, that was a rant. I feel for you and hope you wife can come home real soon. I agree with you that our Government has lots of faults and mishandles lots of issues. I agree with you that this process is a slap in the face to good Americans. It’s funny that it seems the ones our laws are intended to keep out are able to get in quicker and easier than the ones we should invite. It’s sad that criminals often get more rights and benefits than good citizens that deserve it. But I also have to say, even as upset as I am with USCIS/INS, I still am glad to be American, and hope that you are too. Speak out when necessary to make our great nation even greater!!

  6. Vent all you want...that's what we're all here for!! We've all been through it, its just that some people went through the process so long ago and are now reunited with their loved ones that they don't remember how terribly frustrating it is to have some government entity deciding your fate...and seemingly taking their time doing it.

    It will happen....

Sorry, meant to reply to you earlier. I appreciate your support. Makes me happy to be here on VJ even amongst all the know-it-all's. Good luck to you!!!

I called 12 days ago. I got an email 6 days ago saying my case was being adjucated and we should get some kind of decision in the next 30 days. My noa1 date is June 16th. Hope my approval comes soon so they can do yours?

    Thanks!! Good Luck to you!!

  7. Yes, we are pretty good at getting right down to the heart of the matter. You'll be fine and stop worrying and act like the man your future wife will want you to be.

We all here can help you ensure that your case flies through pretty easily but there are some things that you just have to wait out.

Now, do you have all your documents ready (or at least have started compiling) that will be needed for the interview? Channel that energy into that.

Yes you’re awesome. Thanks for sharing your advice. I’ve taken too much of it so I won’t mind if you go and help someone else who may appreciate it. =)

  8. My goodness, I had no idea what how much interest my rant would generate. I admit, I’m here for one reason and yes I am frustrated. Good for any of you that have sooo much patience. I envy your wisdom and knowledge you share here. Your insight into other people’s business is just so wonderful and up lifting. You all should definitely become VJ spokespeople since you have so much wisdom and empathy. You can defiantly shed some light into the lives of total strangers.

Sorry that I forced so many of you to listen to me. I have to admit, I never paid attention to any of your cases. Just a few words of encouragement to some other random users. Perhaps I should learn from you and lay some knowledge on them as well.

As for the 5 month thing, I believe in accountability for your words and actions. Guess you have taught me a lesson there too. You are all so wonderful. I now know to let government agencies do as they please.

Haha, anyway… hope no one is offended by my sarcasm. Don’t really want to hurt or single out anyone. I find satisfaction in better things. I have a blessed life and yes, INS is my only big issue so I made a big deal of it. If my dissatisfaction with INS bothers you, perhaps you should just ignore me. =P

  9. maybe they changed the goal just to piss YOU off... or maybe they are just really busy right now. even if you managed to put in a service request you would still only be told that they are working through all the petitions and you will be approved when they get to yours.

its really not worth getting worked up about :)

Yes, can only vent. It's just wise asses who make comments like "YOU are not special" that pisses me off. I have a right to voice my opinion here just as everyone else dose. If I want to complain about a gov agency lacking then I can. I know all about it because I also work for a gov agency.

This process is about security. Stopping the wrong people from sneaking into country for wrong reasons. Is it working? I see our Americans being punished by a process that is not effective with its purpose. For that, I have no problem criticizing INS.

If you (you means no one specific) have an opinion, say so. If you want to make it personal by saying "YOU are not special", it's a good thing were not all in the same room.

BTW: the service inq is just to make them work and know that Im not just going to sit around. It's a waist of time but can be effective to get people moving. I have experience on both sides of that sort of thing. They keep pushing back my right to do so and that is plain wrong.

  10. They are not processing your petition because they have not yet reached it. They are currently processing other petitions that were filed before yours. Their goal is 5 months, and sometimes they are better sometimes worse. You have the right to call and enquire. They answered you and told you that, given the current pile of petitions in front of them, their best estimate is 6-14 days. The only way they could give you a better estimate is by looking at each and every petition and analysing how much time each one will take to process. Ie they will have to process every petition in order to tell you how much time it will take exactly ;)

They do not let you do a service inquiry before 5 months because they know that the answer will simply be "you are waiting in line, we have not reached you yet". After 5 months you can call...and the answer will either be "we have not reached you yet, here is an estimate of how much longer" OR "we should've reached you, hmm, we are working on your petition but there is some issue/we must have lost your petition". I don't see how you can expect anything more.

I expect a formal service inquiry in writing upon my request. My right and what they are required to do when they fall out of guideline. Wouldn't it be nice to tell the bank you do not owe a penalty because I don't have my payment yet and I am changing the due date. That is what they are doing. Do you see what I am getting at? They are not living up to their obligation and giving the runaround as to why.

  11. The reason they can't give you a straight answer is because there is no straight answer. They don't know if any of the petitions in the box ahead of yours will be easy to adjucate or take more of their time....so they have to give ranges of time.

Did you realize that for a normal, no RFE adjucation, it takes them about 15 minutes....Think about it, you wait 5 plus months and it only takes them 15 minutes to give the approval and move your petition along to the next step.

Think about it, only 15 minutes......think of the number of boxes of petitions ahead of yours to make up a 5 month backlog!!!!

Now you can see why YOU are not that special.......you're a mere speck in the mudfield.

You are missing the point. They have a "goal" in which I can not make them do a "service inquiry". My RIGHT to find out why they are not processing my application as a TAX PAYING AMERICAN CITIZEN. Now when their time is up, they change the date so they do not have to do what is REQUIRED of then upon my request. Time I can not do anything about, but the process is what is pissing me off. They are doing what they want. I am not special as their are many who should have the right to do their "service inquiry". INS needs to do what they are required and stop dodging the bullet.

  12. I understand 5 months is an average that they set. The point is that they set that goal and that is the time frame given before I can do anything about it. Now when they did not meet that goal and I want to take action, they change the "goal" on me. That is not right. As for the number of days incrementing like days on calender, I know it may not be exact, but INS on phone told me "they are currently processing June 16th and because of the Thanksgiving holiday, it may take more than 6 days to get to yours. It should be no longer than two weeks." The issue is not only the amount of time they are taking, but the fact they are not giving straight answers. They seem to make up what they want to tell me every time.

On a side note, I know I need to just be patient. Its just so hard to see so many get theirs so quickly, and mine take so long when: We have no significant age gap, I provided tons of proof or relationship, Neither of us have priv marriages or kids, no cirm records, and I even have a DoD TS so I know my background check should have been a cake walk. uggh... just venting again.

  13. As of Nov 22, my i29f app was 5 months in processing. The Goal set by INS and the day I could initiate a service inquiry (finally have someone check what the hold up is). I call on that day, they give me the run around and finally inform me that they can not initiate a service inquiry because target is no longer 5 months. They now have a target date of June 16th apps and they will only do service requests for apps received prior to June 16th. It has been 7 days since I was told this and that should make target date now June 23rd. I called this morning to start my service inquiry and was told target date is still June 16th. WTH?! Do they make this up as they go along. Is this how they make sure there is no recourse for tax paying American Citizens when they don't do there job? What good is are these targets if they keep changing them?

  14. Today marks 5 months since my i29f was received by CSC. I tried calling on a few occasions and all they would tell me is that it is "under initial review" and that they have 5 months. They told me to call back if it is beyond 5 months and they will be able to answer questions as to where I am in the process. I called as soon as they opened this morning and instead of more detailed answers, they tell me the same damn thing with the exception that "5 months is only an estimate". They did tell me that the latest application they are working on was received June 16 but that really tells me nothing. From this website we can see that they do not process in order and the next application they work on could be one they received yesterday. I am so damn frustrated with CSC and its so f-ed up they can get away with putting us off like this. UGGGGHHH!!!!!!!!! ok, sorry folks, just had to vent.
