  1. Hello Everyone,

I am having trouble finding a good fare to pick up my wife. I will be flying from Los Angeles and pick her up in Cebu. Online sites such as Cheapoair do not have the same flights for the one way (my wife) as they do for the round trip (me). The best they could do was to put me on an Asiana flight to Cebu for 1100 and place my wife on the return flight for 2100. I am trying to find a decent fare for both the round trip and the one way. Does anyone have any tips?

    Thank you in advance.

  2. Hi Fellow January 1-130-ers :)

How are things going for everyone? It been a realllllyyy tough time for me, I'm sure a lot of you feel the same way. Just really miss my husband a lot and I wish we could speed this all up but I know we can't.

How does everyone else pass the time or handle the distance? Does anyone have any fun little secrets to share of ideas to spend time with your loved one or games to play or fun little "dates" you can have via e-mail, text, phone calls, skype, video calls.. etc? I'd def love to hear some ideas. It's hard being this far apart and sometimes just adding something different to the mix might help with the boredom and frustration of waiting :(

My wife and I have been watching a lot of youtube videos together. Google+ Hangout allows you to watch them synced up.

  3. Hi, I hope someone can clear this up for me. I am a US citizen. I married my wife in the Philippines in a Civil wedding in January. My question is, will there be a problem that the consular agency that married us put my Mother's maiden name in my name on the marriage contract? It reads: First Name - Middle Name - Moms Maiden Name-Last Name. At the wedding I asked why they did that and the answer I got was "That is how it is done here"

I am just concerned about how my name reads on our marriage contract and will that be a conflict with other forms when I send in the I30 packet.

    Thanks

  5. My wife and just got married on January 5 in Cebu. Here are the steps we needed in order to get married

    1. obtain Affidavit in Lieu of legal capacity to marry from the US Consulate

    2. obtain CENOMAR for my wife as well as myself (USC)from NSO

    3. obtain barangay clearance for my wife from her local barangay hall

    4. obtain birth certificate for both my wife and myself

    5. file with Local Civil Registrar

    6. Wait 10 days

    7. Obtain marriage license from Civil Registrar

    8. get married

    9. obtain marriage certificate from person performing ceremony

These are requirements for the civil registrar in Mandaue City. They may be different depending on your spouses local civil registrar. My wife went to the civil registrar and asked all the requirements for her to marry a foreigner.

my wife will file with civil registrar to expedite the processing of our marriage certificate so that they can forward it to NSO. Once with NSO she will pick up the NSO authenticated marriage certificate with which she will change her name of on all her documents to her married name. I am currently filing I-130.

    Congratulations!

  6. So my fiance went to the Civil registrar to ask for the requirements to get married and they told her that I need a CENOMAR, CEDULA, and Barangay Clearance. Im a USC so I'm a little confused as to how I would go about getting those. This is the Cebu City Civil Registrar she went to. Is that information right?

  7. My wife did not have her visa when she did her CFO so just make sure she knows your mother madien name as well to bring wedding picture and the marriage certificate from NSO. The plus to this is that if she does her CFO then she no longer has do it again. Once she has her visa she shows the certificate from CFO and put the stick in her passport. One less thing to worry about.

    Thank you!

How long did it take to receive the new passport?

  8. You no longer can Amended a passport you have to get a new one and also you have to do the CFO before you can get the passport in the married last name as well as NSO orginal of marriage certificate so I suggest to get several of them because they will keep the NSO orginal marriag certificate at DFA and also you have to one once you get to the NVC stage.

I was reading requirements to do the CFO and it seems like they want you to bring your visa itself, but she will need to bring her passport to the interview. The passport cant be changed without the CFO and the CFO cant be done without the visa. Does it matter what name is on the passport at the time of interview?

  9. You can use the married name in all her document as long as u have the marriage certificate then.

Ammendment of Passport will only take minutes depending on where it is to be done. I had mine ammended at the US embassy in Manila..i had to go there personally and ijust waited for it for a couple of minutes.

you had a philippine passport amended at the US embassy?

  10. Hi everyone!

My fiance recently applied for her passport as a first time application. She should be getting it in the next month or so. We plan to get married in December then I will file paperwork for the CR-1 Visa in January. We would like to change her name to her married name. Do I fill out the I-130 and G-325A with her married name even if she does not yet have it changed on her passport? What other documents will she need to obtain with her new married name? I know the passport will need to be amended. Am I right? How long will it take to have her passport changed?

    Thank you
