  1. Yes, I-90 if because you did not receive GC is free. The timeframe is 6 months though.

That is correct, after 7 months and a half I finally received the 10 year greencards (mine and my son's). But i have to send back my card due to wrong alien number on it. I filed I=90 for replacement and it was free. My one year extension letter will expire on June 30th. i called uscis and said that I have to wait for 180 days before I call them again. So i need to go and drive to local uscis office in Michigan for infopass to get my passport stamped.

  3. Hi I thought this would be interesting, I was always used to using a stick until I lived in the USA, my husband has an Automatic. One day I went to work and parked in a parking space, I could not get the keys out of the car ignition, I started to panic, I sat there nearly in tears wondering if I should phone the AAA for assistance, well this fella parked next to me and I plucked up the courage to ask him if he know anything about cars, he looked in the car and said " mam it helps if you put the thing in park" I could of died, right there and then I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me, so I much prefer to use a stick.

i used to drive a stick in the Phils., was so scared to drive an automatic, i told my husband not to get me an automatic. So he got me a stick b4 I came to US. For me, a stick is so challenging for a lady driver.

The car doesnt work good on snow, (im scared to drive on snow either), first time! so I told him to get a better one for snow, then we got the automatic.

Same thing happened to me! I didnt want to be late for work, I stopped in the parking lot 5 minutes before the time, i couldnt get the keys out of the ignition. I pressed everything on the remote keys, it was still dark so the car got panicked and alarmed, beep! beep! beep!!..i caiught peoples' attention. I called my husband and explained to me what to do, he didnt know either what was the reason. ( the car was a new one) I was touching this and that, trying this and that in the car while talking to him. He was not a help to me!!..lol, til I figured out that it was not in park. "THAT'S WHY I DIDNT LIKE AUTOMATIC"

There was a time, my step son's car couldnt get out of the snow in the driveway, he was so late for work. He wanted me to drive his car so he could help it push, i said no, i said i havent driven an automatic, i tried but i was really scared so the snow got deeper and deeper til we couldnt make it anymore. He was so mad.

But now, getting used with automatic and I'm loving it. I didnt think that it is so "GRAVY!!"

  4. In my interview in Detroit, the officer told me that the good news is that my background check is done. I was approved, but he didnt get my I-94, I didnt have any evidence that I got approved, just wait for the GC within 4 weeks. But before I stepped out of the room, I asked him if I can apply for a job the next day, and he said that he would stamp my passport for an authorization. That's the time that he took the I-94 and stamped my passport, and even told me that I can go out of US, but only to Canada. I received the GC in 10 days.

If I were you, I would ask the officer about the background check and also going out of the country while waiting for the GC.

    Goodluck.

  5. Thanks for the input! I'm off to the doctor now to take care of this. My wife received some vaccinations during her physical, and had some check marks stating not age appropriate. Anyway, whatever it was/is, she passed her physical/vaccinations in Thailand, so I can't see her having problems here... I hope! Yhanks again all!

    Stan

Age not appropriate was also checked in my hepa b vaccination form in the Philippines but the USCIS civil surgeon wanted to give me the shot and the whole physical exams. So i was given TD shot and the hepa B shots, and use stethoscope on me to show that he checked me up. My son had the completed vaccination form but he still wanted to give him a physical exams, so he used again his stethoscope. I paid more than $200 for me and my son. If not, we will not get the I-693 Supplement form. After submitting all the supplemental forms, USCIS sent back my son's supplemental form still sealed, and it is still with me. We got approved and now have the GCs, I dont want to think anymore that the money I paid for my son's supplemental form was wasted, just to make me feel good. We got the green cards anyway!

  6. hello vjers! we had our interview today @ 11:05am and were called @ around 11:45 am. the officer asked some few questions about my petitioner and some no questions. then asked for copies of bills (give him cellphone and credit card bills), insurance, & joint bank account. he then went out to make copies of our IDs and my passport. when he came back, he stamped my I-485 application "APPROVED" and congratulates us. but the thing is he did not stamp my passport instead he gave me a letter stating "Congratulations! Your application to adjust status has been approved" and "Notice to Conditional Permament Resident Alien". he also told us that my green card will be mailed within 90 days but he said the usual GC arrival is within 2 weeks. Is it ok if my passport have no stamp on it? Thanks to all VJers

Don't worry about that, just wait for the GC.

That happened also after my interview, but before we left the room I asked him if I could work or apply for a job the next day. The officer told me that he could stamp my passport with the authorization, so he did. He said 4 weeks to receive the GCs (for me and my son). It didnt take that long coz I received our GCs today, after 10 days. So i wasnt able to use the passport with stamp. Our interview was in Detroit.

  7. Our appointment was 1230, and my son's was 1 pm. We arrived in Detroit immigration office at 1210, after almost an hour of waiting my name was called by a nice guy and I asked him if I will bring my son with me in the room, then he said yes.

We first took our oaths then he asked about my parents name, then he put checks on my application, then showed me the signature and asked if that was my signature.

He asked me the questions about felonies, conviction, arrests, etc and all answers were NO, While he was asking me those question, he made a joke to my son and asked him if he will be a terrorist?

He asked my husband if he is still working? He said that he has my husband's ITR for 2005 so he wants to see some recent pay stubs.

He asked us what documents i had with me to show our relationship, I said marriage certificate. Then he said, what else? So i handed him the following: (xerox and original copies)

    Bank statement with our names

    Water bill with our names

    Health Insurance

    Car insurance

He just sorted out the xeroxed copies and gave me the originals.

He also asked for IDs, mine and husband's driver's license, and state ID for my son, Then he made copies.

He explained to us that the GC is only conditional within 2 yrs, that I and husband should file Form I-751, a joint petition to have the conditional basis of the status removed. So after one yr and 90 days, and before it expires , the petition should be filed. If after two yrs and it is not filed yet, the spouse alien will be subject to removal from the US.

We signed two documents with the offircer's signature also, then gave me my copy.

My son didnt have the finger print coz we didnt receive any appointment for him, and the officer told us that he couldnt make his GC yet until he had his fingerprint. We were advised to have his biometrics in the same area in Detroit, only 3 streets away from the office. He phoned the biometrics office and make a special request for my son's fingerprint. (It was nice of him coz he learned that our house is a 4 hour drive to detroit to have our interview, and my biometrics appontment before was in Grand Rapids 3 hour drive, thats why he made that request.)

He also told me that my background check is finished and made a comment "and thats the good news!" I said yehey!!

He then said that GC will arrive within 4 weeks, but my son's will be little late coz of his finger print. He asked me if I have plans of trvelling outside America? (probably, he would speed up my GC..lol), but i said No.

Before we went out of the room i asked him if i can work the next day after that interview, or can i apply for a job, then he told me that he can stamp my passport with the authorization. He took my passport and stamped it that i can work and will expire in one year, then took the I-94 form. He said that I can go to Canada, but i should not bring my son, coz he has no authorization yet. Then he said something again about my son's green card will arrive probably the same as mine.

i checked the USCIS website awhile ago, and my son's application was touched. Probably its his fingerprint.

Thats all, good luck to all who will have their interview soon.

    Marissa

  8. Hi all,

I think I've already submitted my original copies with my application? Do i need new and up to date original copies? My interview is on Thursday.

    Thanks everyone.

    Marissa

It depends what documents you are referring too. Weave my interview in a couple weeks you can view the attached list of the items We bringing. If you are referring to the origianl tax forms that use to have to be nortarized (I did this for my application) I beleive jsut a copy is sufficient for the interview. We are bringing copies of all forms previously sent to USCIS and origianl documents of support. Our interview package has been bound and coded and a second copy has been made for USCIS in case they would like to keep anything.

Good Luck on your interview!!

    Hi Cali,

I was referring to Affidavit of Support (as what I've stated in the title of my post)

thanks and Good luck to you too!

  9. New form (I'm pretty sure that's the same one you have)

Check page 3, part 1. If you can answer yes to all 3 of those questions (or the ones on page 8) you can use it.

    Thank you for the link.

I downloaded the I-864 and not the EZ, and I saw the diffrence. So my husband (petitioner) is not qualified to use this form because its "no" on letter C of page 8. I came here together with my minor son on a K1/K2 visas.

I will try to make the affidavit of support anyway, and have this notarized.

    Thank you sooo much!

  10. I wanted to, but I dont know if I would have enough time to prepare and have it notarized. But i do have photocopies.

    Hey, thanks!

    Galwayman,

    Thank you!

    Marissa

If you qualify for the new I-864EZ (it came into effect sometime in July 2006), it doesn't need to be notarized.

    Canuck,

How would I know if I am qualified? Do you have the link that I could check? I have just downloaded the revised affidavit of support form 1/05/06

  11. Well my AOS was touched 3 days ago, finally and after 3 months from last time..........

today i pick up my mail and there it interview letter for august 28th

now i just hope i get my son´s interview letter too, he is 10 now (his bday was a week ago), and i dont know how it works really, i thought we both would get appt letter together but i only got mine...........

    anyway still very happyyyyy :dance::dance:

    Hi,

I applied for my AOS together with my son's application. His application was returned back to me for some missing signatures. We resubmitted it, then I had my biometrics and he hadnt any (he is 12 yrs. old), but his sealed vaccination supplement was also returned to me, we ignored it, then I and my son received our appointment letters separately on same date.

    Good luck..

  12. Well we are about two weeks away from the interview :dancing: . I am getting ready to take off to the Philippines pretty soon and be there every step of the way for her.

I was wondering if anybody here has had any experience with going to the interview in Manila. I have heard from one person that it makes things almost automatic approval because the husband of the spouse is showing that he cared enough to be there with her in the interview  . Then someone else advised not to go because they will drag me into some trick questions.

If anyone can detail me on what it would be like for me I would appreciate it!!

Anywayz....yahaaeee!!!! We are going to be back together sooooon!!!!!
