Does anyone know how the US Embassy in Singapore schedules interviews?
e.g. Do they schedule them as cases come in from the NVC? Do they hold all cases until a certain time of month and then schedule everyone?
It appears that most people get their interview date almost immediately after the case is closed. However, our case was closed 1 week ago (received email) but we still haven't received an interview date. I've called the NVC but all they can say is that the case is closed but they haven't scheduled an interview yet.
The Consular section at the Embassy is currently closed for renovations. I gave them a call but no answer. I wonder if that's causing the delay...
Is anybody else currently waiting for a Singapore interview date?
Thanks,
B

Hi,
We are trying to collect our civil documents ahead of time so that once our IV instructions arrive we can send the package back immediately.
We have to obtain police certs from Singapore and New Zealand. The policy for both of these countries is that the police certs will be sent directly to the "requesting office" and not to the applicant. (Note: Citizens of Singapore are actually allowed to collect their police certs themselves, but my wife isn't Singaporean...)
Does anybody know if the "requesting office" is the NVC?
Or is it the US Embassy where the interview will take place?
Or is it different for each country/case?
I have visited my Embassy (which is Singapore) and they have advised for me to just wait for the IV instructions. However, after some research here on the VJ forums, it appears that the IV instructions most often just refer to the "Visa Reciprocity Tables" web page <http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_3272.html>. It doesn't really help because I have access to this now and it doesn't tell me anything new.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Thanks, I also phoned and emailed the NVC and they confirmed the same thing.
As long as the Routing Number and Account Number are from a US bank then it's fine. The account can be owned by anyone.

Hello,
I'd like to resurrect this thread...
Can anyone confirm that the AOS and IV payments can be made online with ANY true US Routing Number + Account Number?
(i.e. the US Account does NOT need to be in the name of the sponsor, intending immigrant, or attorney/agent)
Thanks,
B

Just FYI to everyone. The Singaporean Police are now issuing to non singaporeans again but only after you file an appeal. this adds 1-2 weeks to the process. They started allowing this sometime in mid-february.
Hi Adam and Karen,
How exactly did you "file an appeal"?
Thanks,
B

The DCF theory is a good one...
I guess it's not totally unreasonable to imagine the USCIS going through the g-325a's to check if applicants meet the foreign residency requirements of DCF.
We were in the "just missed DCF" boat and were totally bummed about it. We just swallowed it and accepted it as c'est la vie. In the end though, I think going through the Chicago lockbox has ultimately taken a similar amount of time as a DCF would have (4 to 5 months).
Best of luck to everyone on their visa journeys and hope they're all quick ones.
