I am an LPR who got his immigrant visa in F-4 category through my sibling. The visa was issued in March 2016 and i eneterd USA in August 2016. Received my Green card in September. At the time of processing of the case at NVC, we had to put my wife and minor daughter, who were listed as derivatives on the original petition, as "follow to join", since they were not ready to immigrate at that time due to some family commitments. Immigrant visa fees however had been paid for them but DS-260 was not filled as online access to DS260 was blocked by NVC as soon as they were listed as follow to join.
Wife and daughter are now ready to immigrate.
My question is do i need to file an I-824 for them or they would be scheduled for interview directly by the New Delhi US Embassy which handled my case. I spoke to NVC yesterday and they said that the case had been transferred to New Delhi embassy in February and that they have no role to play now.
Please guide my how to proceed forward from this point onwards

You got me wrong. I do intend to move permanently to the US. It is just my next entry that I have a doubt about. Do I need to return there within 6 months or would 10 months or so be ok since I need to complete my engineering degree. If I go within 6 months and then again come back to India within a few days then it might create a doubt in the mind of the immigration official at the airport when i go next that I do not intend staying permanently and am just making very brief visits

But reentry permit is required only if tha absence is greater than one year....

I entered the US on a family based immigrant visa (F-4 derivative) in August this year. Left for India after just 5 days stay since i am a final year engineering student and could not have missed college for long. My college ends in May next year.
I am told that one can stay outside US for up to one year as per law. I initially thought of making a visit in January 2017 (i.e, before expiry of 6 months from the last exit) but then that visit would have to be for a maximum period of one week only as i cannot skip college for longer than that. I am now planning to move after my course ends in May. Would there be any problem at the port of entry since i would have been away for almost 10 months?

Arrived on immigrant visa last week. It seems one cannot make any progress on getting health insurance, driving license and opening a bank account without social security number. How do I get around the situation? How much time is taken for delivery of SS card?

What if there is a problem?

Any idea how many days are taken by the Max hospital at Delhi to handover the medical report after the medical is done?

Does anyone have one or more "follow to join" beneficiaries in their family. What also documents are needed for them at interview stage?

What all does one need to carry for the Biometrics appointment at VAC?
What exactly is done there?

What if value of property held is used to reach the required income level? Are the original property papers required. That will be a tough one. Also, as I asked earlier, is marriage certificate of I864A submitting household member required in original?
-
Can someone provide a comprehensive list of financial documents required to be carried for visa interview? Which all documents are required in original considering that, apart fron I-864, an I-864A has also been submitted (by household member)? Do we need to carry original marriage certificate of the sponsor and the household member (wife) to prove their relationship?

Does the NVC go on issuing checklists till all required documents are received by them or do they ask you to get one odd remaining document (not submitted even after say 2 checklists) to the embassy at the time of interview? Someone please enlighten

44 days and still waiting...
-
Tokki call them up on Monday and directly check about your interview date. I think the holiday season has slowed down things at NVC end as they are now taking 45 days to review documents, up from 30 days earlier.
-
Tokki have you received case complete mail and interview date?
-
Have you received CC email? Any change in your status / details on ceac website after or just before completion of case?
-
Congratulations Tokki

Chill. It doesn't create any problem. If you have already sent financial and civil documents, there is no need to send them again. Wait for 30 days and then call up NVC to get status of review of your documents

Oct 29. However it is not as if you would get either a case complete or a checklist email immediately on expiry of 30 days. For that add another few weeks. I am in the same situation currently and have experienced this. Can't do anything
Hello, we submitted 2 packages separately due to some reasons and got 2 scan dates: Oct 16th and 29th. They tell us to wait for 30 days, I want to ask if that 30 days is counted from the 16th or 29th?
I don't know if sending the second package reset our waiting time or not
