  1. Hello everyone,

I just entered the US on a K-1 Visa at the end of October, and just got married on 11-11-11. (woohoo!!)

Just a quick question about how to go about changing to my married name. I have already applied for SSN in my married name, and I plan on getting my driver's license in my married name as well. So I got a few questions.

    1) For the I-94 and my passport, do I need to change these, or can they remain in my maiden name for now?

    2) I plan on filing for my AOS/EAD/AP in the next week or two, and I will be filling out the forms in my married name. Is this okay, or do I need to file a formal name change with USCIS?

I'm just nervous about having my passport and I-94 in my maiden name, and all my US identification is being completed in my married name....not sure if this is going to give me problems. As soon as I have AP, I am planning on going back into Canada to have my passport re-issued with the new name, but I want to make sure there will be no problems between then and now. (I also don't know if they expect you to get a new I-94 issued also....)

Any advice from anyone that knows or has gone through this already would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks!

  2. Have you called DOS to see if the VISA was printed? They printed mine 2 days after the interview, but didn't send it out until a week after the interview.

Also.....I emailed the embassy asking for an update on when I would receive it, and the very next day they replied letting me know they had just sent it out. Not sure if it was coincidence or if my email pushed them to send it out faster.

I'm getting antsy, they better have a waybill number available for me tomorrow at least, it's been 6 business days since my approval, and not even a waybill number to track with yet! We're moving next weekend!

  3. I just had my interview on October 19th. After about a week of waiting and not seeing anything on the CSC website regarding a waybill number, I emailed Montreal for an update on when I can expect to receive the passport back.

The very next day, I got a reply from Montreal saying the passport was being sent out with DHL that afternoon. A few hours later I got an email from CSC and Loomis Express letting me know that the package had been sent and they provided me with a waybill number.

The CSC website didn't update the waybill number and status of documents until hours after I got the emails. I found that tracking the package on DHL was much more effective than waiting for CSC to update.

Also, DHL tracking told me that the package was ready for pickup before I got an email or phone call from them. I was there at 9 am to pick it up the next day.

  4. Hey,

I had my interview on October 19th, and got my passport back on October 27th. 8 days exactly.

DOS told me my VISA was printed on October 21st, but the consulate didn't ship it out until the 26th, not sure why the delay.

Once you get your waybill number on CSC, start tracking it with DHL...it will arrive before CSC website will tell you it is ready for pickup.

  5. Hi,

I also had my interview last wednesday on the 19th, and I'm still waiting for the passport and visa.

I was able to call DOS and got confirmation that it was issued/printed last Friday. So it's just a matter of time until Montreal decides to finally send it out.

From what I've read in past posts, it seems Montreal sends them out at random and in bunches, no real order to the process. Calling CSC for an update isn't helpful, and I tried emailing Montreal for an update but haven't heard anything back yet.

Really all we can do is wait....and your right, it completely sucks!

I hope your documents arrive soon!

  6. Thanks for the link, it was helpful.

I called DOS and they said my VISA was issued on Friday October 21, 2011. They couldn't give me any information on whether or not it has been sent out yet.

Is it normal for it take a few days between Visa issue and DHL pickup?

Anyone else who had their interview last week in the same boat??

  7. US_SL -- not sure what you mean to have my fiance pay at the embassy...I am the Canadian citizen, and from what I have been told, the payment must be paid to CSC either through telephone or online. Do you mean my US fiance can actually pay the fee for me in the US? Please explain...thanks!

Shirley Ann -- I too called CSC call centre and spoke with a lady. I was also told you won't be given an option to pay the MRV fee until appointments are available. Which didn't make sense to me since you can pay in advance on the telephone system if it was actually working :s The call centre lady also told me that with the new electronic way of booking interviews, payment does have to be received first, and that payment at the consulate on the day of the interview isn't an option anymore.....(even though pkt 4 says it is) I feel like CSC and the consulate just don't communicate with each other.

Anyways, I guess we just have to wait for appointments to open up. Good luck to you as well :)

  8. Hello,

I seem to be having the worst of luck with CSC. Anyone else find this website service completely non-user friendly?

I am trying to make my MRV fee payment for my K-1 Visa. When I called in to book an appointment, they said I need to make the payment of $350US before an appointment can be made.

    1) I have tried making the payment over the telephone. I have attempted about 5 times now, using 2 different credit cards, and I am continued to be told my cards are invalid. I have contacted my credit card company, and they said the cards are fine, and no transactions were even attempted.

I emailed CSC for assistance, and they basically told me to try again, and to try making the payment online or through Scotiabank.

I attemped to make the payment over the phone again....same issue, I'm told my credit card is not valid. (I emailed CSC again to see what the problem is)

    2) I tried to make the payment online through the website instead. Except, I can't seem to find the option to make the MRV fee payment. I have followed all instructions as outlined.

-Trip purpose selected (K1 Fiance) Permanently immigrate to the US

    - Selected Montreal as my choice consulate

    - Was sent to Visa information page - clicked on continue

    - Taken to my applicant summary page, advises me that "no appointments are available at this time" ---- and no continue button to press to make an MRV payment, no option for payment at all.

I have emailed CSC again trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. But the help on this forum is always much better! If anyone is having similar problems let me know, or if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong....PLEASE HELP!!!

PS. I thought I could pay the fee at the consulate on the day of the interview (my packet 4 letter says I can) So I'm so confused about why CSC says they need payment before appointment can be booked.

    Thanks!!

  10. I too am at that stage of trying to book an interview....very frustrating! I do have a question for you though.....

I noticed that you payed your MRV fee earlier this month. How did you get it done? I have not had any success over the phone or on the CSC website.

When I attempt to pay over the phone, I am told my credit card is invalid (and I tried 2 different cards)...mind you my credit card company has told me my cards are just fine.

When I try to pay on the website, I can't even find the MRV fee payment option....I'm not sure I'm looking in the wrong place or what.

I have been having bad luck with this CSC website service...completely frustrating me. If you could let me know how you got that payment done, it would be a huge help!

    Thanks,

    - T.

  11. Figured out the problem I was having!

Once you reach the information page, keep on clicking "continue". It will take you to an "add family members" page, and afterwards it will be a page where you can select your DHL courier location. My own fault for not investigating more thoroughly.

Thank you for the helpful hints everyone!

  12. No absolutely no DHL location at all.

I am able to select my consular location (Montreal). After clicking submit, I am taken to a Visa Information page. No option to select DHL location.

I have my forms ready to send back to the consulate, but stuck now on how to get it there.

I have emailed the CSC twice now, all I get are automatic responses that are have not worked. I can't even find a number for the CSC call centre to try and talk to a real life person.

  13. Hello,

I am applying for my K-1 Visa and I just received Packet 3 from the Montreal Consulate. I am trying to follow the instructions to sign up for a DHL courier location but I'm having problems.

I have followed the instructions exactly from my Pkt 3 letter and instructions given on CSC website. After selecting Montreal as the consular location, I am not given the option to choose a DHL location. Instead I am directed to a Visa information page.

Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions or help would be great!!

    Thanks!
