  1. Well we got the dreaded RFE on Saturday the 25th. They just aren't sure that we married in good faith. Seems as though I didn't submit enough financial information, like a utility bill. I guess the title to our car with both names on it and the title to our boat with both names on it and our joint tax returns and our joint bank account statements and our joint insurance policies didn't do the trick. HELP!!

  2. Okay I knew this was going to happen. My husbands biometric letter came in the mail and he is scheduled for Friday August 15th at 1pm in Detroit. We are going to be out of town on vacation that weekend and about 250 miles from Detroit. Should he just stay home from our family vacation or should we try to re-schedule. Is this a situation where he can just go early? HELP!!

  3. No problem ;)

And yeah, definitely good news for those in Toronto. Hopefully more panel physicians will be added, both in central Canada as well as the eastern provinces, so those people living in those areas don't have to travel so far to get a medical done.

Amen! Traveling to Toronto one weekend and two weeks later traveling to Montreal stinks! Of course gas prices just went up too. Oh well, he's worth it. :hehe:

  4. Hi Guys!

Has anybody here got their Case Completed this Month of Aug??and Did you guys get your Interview Date yet??

I am just wondering as those who got their case completed on Aug 2 have their interviews scheduled on the 2nd week of Sept so I am trying to find out if they will be able to fill us in for Sept as well. Know also that USEM Manila had to re-schedule interviews due to the flood one week ago.

    Thanks in advance! =)

My case was complete in August and got my interview date last Wednesday. Quicker than I expected, and that is the first time I've been able to say that this whole process. Now if September 24th could hurry up I'd appreciate it.

  5. Hi everyone!

I've been reading through everyone's stories and all of the tips and guides on this website and they have been extremely helpful. I'm still at a bit of a loss at how my fiance and I should proceed though.

I am a Canadian citizen and my fiance is American. We plan on marrying and moving to the US. I'm wondering what option will be best for us. We particularly want things to go as quick as possible (of course!)

I'm thinking the K1 way is best. It seems they are being processed relatively quickly and I would be able to go to the US, marry, and then stay there.

I am just wondering if we should just go ahead and get married, and then file for the CR-1 instead. It seems to be a better and more straightforward visa, and I wouldn't have to worry about the Employment Authorization application. This looks like it would take longer though.

Essentially, I am mostly curious how long each method takes, and how much each method costs. Also, if there is a way that is recommended and more likely to be approved.

Thank you! Look forward to hearing from you all. Let me know if you need more information on our case!

    Jennifer

We researched long and hard before deciding and we went the CR1 route as well. My husband needed to be able to travel back and forth so Fiance was out the window. Our expenses aren't as much because we life only 60 miles apart and see each other each weekend to get signature/documents/copies etc. We can also drive to Toronto, and Montreal for medical and interview and only spend 1 night in each place.

    Good Luck to you.

  6. Thanks for the reply moomin. I've been trying to find posts about it on VJ but so far all I can find are people asking the same question but using NEXUS instead and I don't have NEXUS - and from my understanding at Nexus you don't always have to talk to a guard so it is probably a bit different. I agree honesty is the best policy - but is it wrong to do use my license? If I say I am using my license so I don't have to use my passport will they be okay with that?

P.S. If you can find the posts about the EDL please link because I have am having 0 luck!

I have a Nexus pass and I have to talk to a guard every time I come back to the US (and I'm the USC). They just usually waive me through on the Canadian side though.

  7. My case was completed at NVC on July 2nd. Still no interview date. I am so disappointed and depressed right now.

I've been in touch with the embassy in Stockholm and my wife called the NVC last week. If I don't hear anything by Friday I'm going to email the NVC and ask what's going on. This is so frustrating. :(

Wow I can't believe your still waiting for a date. I remember being in the NVC thread and thinking you were almost done. I have no idea how long it will take Montreal but I hope it's quicker than Stockholm. Good Luck to you bud. This is a long haul huh?

  8. Update: My wife is pregnant, with a due date of October 5th. Our CR-1 interview date was scheduled for September 11th. She went in for an OB check up and the doctor told her it's quite likely that she will give birth 2-3 weeks early...around September 15th. We really want to give birth here in the states so I called the U.S. Embassy twice, trying to get her interview moved to an earlier date, but no luck. Both times I was told that since NVC scheduled her interview, they couldn't change it to an earlier time. We figured that was it, and we'll see what happens. Last week my wife made a new friend at her St. Luke's exam and just last night she got a text from her new friend, telling her that she rescheduled her K1 interview, to about 3 weeks earlier. My wife asked me to call the embassy again. I figured it was a waste of time but being a good hubby, I said fine, I'll try. This time, the woman I spoke with was very helpful, and got us a new interview date...this Friday, August 17th! I didn't even ask for an expedite or claim any emergency, she just gave us the new appointment. With all the flooding, and closing of the embassy last week, I was really shocked that they had available slots so soon!

To anyone that can't (or doesn't want to) wait, you might try to call them and ask if they have an earlier dates available.

Wonderful! Good luck on the new baby
