  1. As you can tell from my timeline mine took much longer than 5 months. Hopefully they have cleared the backlog. If it goes past 5 months be sure to give them a call. After 5 months, they told me to call in another month. I called back after a month and was told to call in another month. I contacted my congressman and two days after he sent them an inquiry my I-130 was approved. I am not sure if the inqiury helped or not???

    I called the USCIS Customer help number today since it has been over 5 months since they had recieved my I-130 (I am a USC applying for an unmarried step-son under the age of 21). The operator said that this service center was processing this type of application with a priority date of June 16, 2011. So it appears it is taking an average of 6 months to have an I-130 processed from the CA service center. I am expect that this service center will become further backlogged with the coming Holidays.
