  1. just curious if a petitioner has traveled to Juarez as support to her fiance this year?

the stories i hear are terrorizing. im thinking of telling my fiance to go solo on this one. she is a really nervous person. so im just curious to hear someones feedback that has traveled there from usa to suppport her fiance.

ED, Thank you for the great info. you have calmed my nerves. i can't seem to find the cost for dna tests. my fiance has 2 kids as well and im thinking they may ask for dna tests. do you remember how much those costs?

    thanks again.

  2. I129 $340 dlls

    Visa $350 dlls

    medical $180 dlls

    flight/hotel, etc. 1000 dlls

    total: about 2 grand.

that's the approx I spent and it was only for myself. Have to mention that I stayed in Juarez waiting for the visa and paid like 10 days of hotel, if you guys don't plan to stay that would be a hell lot less, the hotels are fairly cheap but obviously every day adds up.

Have no idea about medical/visa cost for children but I guess is not as expensive as the adults.

thanks for the great info. if kids also arrive on k2 visa. does aos cost 1,040 for each kid? basically 3 grand for mom, and 2 kids to file aos?

  3. Yes, we did both a K-2 and a K-2 to follow. The Kiev consulate requires only children over age 14 to attend, Moscow requires ALL applicants. Check with the consulate.

Also depends. If they have separate passports, they come in separate envelopes, if the children are listed in the parents passport, as is required in Ukraine for children under 16, then they come in one envelope but with two separate visas in the same passport.

Thanks for the great info. fiance will be going to juarez. per juarez forum. it says A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the U.S. (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions)

so im assuming that both kids will have separate passports. unless they are all listed under mothers passport.

  4. has anyone applied for a k1 with children? do the children need to be present at interview?

my fiance has 2 kids. we are planning on filing k1. and hopefully they will get k2 visas.

she will come to us first. then once we settle down get all furniture and place ready. we plan on bringing the kids.

just curious. if k1 is approved. do all visas come in 1 packet that is sealed? or do they come in separate packets via dhl.

  5. people will always respond negative to someone marrying someone from a different country. family, friends and specially coworkers may not understand what one goes through trying to maintain a long distance relationship. the truth is. its really hard, but its the path that one chooses. for me its simple i love my fiance. we chat every day via skype. my family was at first unresponsive to my future wife, but ive explained it to them that she is the one that i fell in love with. for coworkers i stand my ground on my decision. i tell them that would not like it if i talked negative about their spouse.

  6. You're difinitely the person that know's best and is capable of making the right decision for you, your children and your relationship.

    Good luck.

sounds like your fiance is stressed out about transitioning to his new role. He is transitionig from living alone and single. To having kids and a new wife at home to support. All the expenses that have incurred up to this point may also have an impact.

Again, the moment that he submitted the application this was the ultimate goal to get approved. So the way he is acting up now. is strange.

SO you should really sit down and talk. The topic at hand is a very serious one. That decision will impact your kids and you for the rest or your life. If he was approved based on his income. then he should have no problem with him carrying the bills and supporting you.

leaving the kids behind is also not a good choice. nobody will take care of them like you do. best of luck on your journey.

  7. you can take the grayhound to the border then catch a mexican bus from there but plan on a very long and slow trip. you can fly aeromexico for around 750 to 800 and be much much much more comfortable and safer!

check out cheaptickets.com, continental.com,orbitz.com. Your time spent on bus and safety is more important. You dont know what routes the bus takes and acapulco is a dangerous city right now.

  8. The children can immigrate separately from mom after she enters the US.

The children can apply for K-2 visas. A K-2 can only be issued within one year of the K-1 issuance. One year after issuance of the K-1, this route is closed to the children. You will need to apply to adjust their status after they enter the US. Until they successfully adjust from the non-immigrant K-2 visa to a green card, they may not be able to enroll in school for several months (Non-immigrants can have an awful time trying to enroll in school). Keep this in mind if you pursue this route.

As a US citizen, you can file separate I-130 for the children as your stepchildren after you marry mom. It will take 6-12 months for them to get visas. The nice part is that they will automatically get green cards when they arrive. You don't have to go through the trouble of adjusting status and they will be able to enroll in school right away.

In addition, you will need the non-immigrating parent's permission for the children to immigrate to the US. You will need a notarized statement from the non-immigrating parent before the US Embassy will issue any type of visa.

thanks for the great info. im thinking k2 route. just need to find out if once approved they would receive the sealed k2 visa in same envelope as k1 visa. i have read that those envelopes cant be opened by anyone else except customs at port of entry.

  9. after reading visajourny guides. here is my checklist of documents that i can bring back when i return from my 2nd visit to my fiance.

    1. passport photos of her

    2. civil certificate of mexico to show her single status and never been married.

3.police report-translated showing she has no record.

    4. she will need a mexico passport were planning on getting one.

    5. proof of residency in mexico

    6. letter signed by father of her 2 kids stating kids can move to usa with us. we have a lawyer that will assist us on this one in mexico. this one is probably the most important.

    7. translated birth certificates, hers, son and daughters.

anything else that i may have missed?

    please advise

  10. almost all of us.

I have had NO Rfes through the Removal of Conditions and now we are filing for citizenship. No questions asked at the visa interview, none asked at the AOS and no interview at all for the RoC...for my wife and two sons!

Never ever felt a need for an attorney. Cannot even imagine what one would do.

    VJ rocks!

thanks for all your advice. i never received a call back from my attorney who quoted me. so im going on this one solo. ill start my timeline once i submit my k1 application to keep all posted.

  11. has anyone been to juarez for the k1 interview? was it dangerous? i read its one of the worlds dangerous cities?

thanks, my fiancee has 2 kids. 10 and 8 years old. im guessing i should ask for 2 weeks off work just to make sure

we have atleast 9 days to get the tests done. thanks for the info you have been great help.
