  1. My fiancé's interview in Ghana was on 3/13/13. I attended it with him and they let me in with my passport. They may have increased security since the Boston bombings, because I can't imagine why they wouldn't let him in if he had his passport.

As far as evidence, in 2010 we were denied for the same reason. In addition to what you stated you had, we also had these:

40 pictures from 2 previous visits that included me with his family. I put captions and dates on all of them.

    Over 300 emails

    30 instant message chats

2011-Present phone records included text messages

Letters from our family members stating we were a bonafide relationship

    Copies of money transfers

I think this is it. We had so much stuff it couldn't fit through the window and the CO didn't even ask to speak to me. Like the member said above, they didn't even really examine the evidence. They just looked at the fact that it was A LOT of evidence, so bulk it up as much as you can.

I hope this helps and good luck!

  2. Hi everyone, thank you all for your help and support,

I went for my interview today, got to the embassy around 6.45 am, I use the time on my fon and since I had to check it in at security, I'll just have to guestimate the waiting periods. We were all called to que up around 7am. Once inside, the two ladies sitting close to the door to the right took my appointment letter and everyone was directed to sit down.

I got called to window 3 by a Ghanaian lady about 2 hours after waiting, she was very nice, took all my forms, medical a, birth cert, police cert, I-134 & letters from work, 401K & W2s, she returned his income tax report & bank statements to me. Collected all my evidence and gave me a sheet to go to the cashier and pay the visa fee. I did that, and returned the receipt to her. She then asked me to wait.

After waiting for about 20 mins, I called to window 1 by another Ghanaian lady, also very polite, she scanned my finger prints and asked me to wait, again.

After waiting for another 20 mins, I got called to window 5 by a caucatian lady. She had me take the oat, signed the form. Looked through my I-129 petition from NVC, then asked me the following questions:

    1. How did you meet ( with follow up questions)

    2. Where does your fiancé live?

    3. How long has he lived there?

    4. What does he do?

    5. What does he do in his spare time?

Then picked up her blue sheet and asked me to come back for my VISA on Fridayyyyy ✋

The interview itself lasted less than 5mins. I was out of the embassy by 10.15am. God is great!!!

All the best to those of you still waiting. Your time will come.

Congratulations Ambataa!!! The interviews are really quick! I am praying for a speedy response next week when my fiance' turns in his BC. God is good!

  3. Our interview was 3/13/13. We had so much evidence (including money transfers) that they didn't even need to speak with me (I came with him for extra proof). After going through our mountain of evidence, they only asked him 3 questions:

How did you met your fiancee'?

When did she come to Ghana?

    How long was each stay?

My fiance' told him I was sitting right there and leaving on the 17th. The CO said okay and to come back on 3/27 with the new birth certificate and we are done. Yayy!

  4. Interviews are usually done at "windows" They want what they ask for. Assembling a huge packet of paper with some sort of fastener will only insure you have to disassemble it to hand them what they want.

What I have used for all interviews is an accordion folder with labeled dividers and place the documents in each "pocket" loosely. When they ask for "Birth certificate" reach in that pocket and hand it over. Yada, yada. Put photos in one pocket, other evidence in other pockets. Works great.

Easy to assemble and disassemble, can be re-used for the next interview (AOS, ROC or Citizenship)just re-label the pockets and add the appropriate documents. Throughout the process I kept a file box of evidence and etc. Any time an interview came up I went to the big file box, took out what was needed, put in the folder and labeled it. After Alla got her citizenship most of that got re-cycled and I kept only the official notifications, now in a separate and much thinner, file.

Thanks! This is a great idea. Currently I have our evidence in an accordian style folder but the sections aren't divided, so I had to slip in plastic tab folders which I will label. So everything is loose and easy to pull right out. I am putting the cover letter/table of contents on the outside of the folder so I can have another point of reference too. Everything is coming together, just waiting on my visa to arrive.

  5. I ended up putting everything into a packed with a table of contents (see below). I did it primarily for my benefit and for my fiance to ensure that he kept everything in order after I mailed it to him. He said that they were very pleased at receiving such an organized packet. I don't know if it makes any difference, but a happy visa officer is a nice visa officer.

  6. Hi all,

Has anyone gotten out of AP in Ghana since the beginning of this year? Also, a status check at www.ceac.stata.gov says visa issued but a call to the DOS and an email to the Ghana embassy shows still in AP. I guess the latter check overrides the former but has anyone experience this?

    Thanks.

    What does AP mean?

  7. what evidence did you present the first time? What was denied the first time? the k-1 application or the visa? In the meantime, being there at the interview is a smart move

He was denied his visa at the interview for lack of evidence. We presented about 100 emails, phone records and about 30 pics of my first trip including the engagement ceremony. Now, we have pics from my second trip, 500 emails, phone records, im's, letters of support from our family, plus me in the flesh. I'm hoping this is enough, but I was wondering how to package it to present to them at the window.

  8. Our interview is on 3/13/13. I know my fiance' in Ghana has to complete his paperwork, medical exams, and police report. But how do I put together this packet of evidence? I have our NVC petition package, tax transcripts, w2's, paystubs, emails, im's, phone records, photos from my 2009 and 2011 trips, and cards. Is there any special way to put these together or just label them neatly. I'm so nervous because they denied us for lack of evidence so I may be over thinking things.

Ps. I will be attending the interview with my fiance' this time.

  9. I received the interview letter for my wife yesterday. Everything looked fine except when I was reading the information about the medical exam it said something about waiting until after your first interview to get the exams done so they don't expire before your second consular interview. How many interviews do you have to do? The Embassy she will be going to is in Accra, Ghana. I haven't read anything anywhere that says two interviews. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Our interview in Ghana is 3/13/13. You have one interview if you are approved. So my advice is to get the medical exam now, and if a second interview is needed and falls past the expiration date of the exam, just have her get another exam done. If you don't have that medical exam on the first interview they will deny you. (This is our second filing)

  10. my husband went to the interview hearrived 6:15 I made him go that early lol he had to wait til 7am they lined up he was the first one. He said he left his phone at the security desk he did his fingerprints he took a oath he said the lady took the 864 told him I didnt make enouhgh money he said he knew that. He said the lady took the chat records along with pictures they asked him how did we meet and where he said at the beach. She also asked him how do I come to gh with my income he stated that he supports me from there by sending money. She did not ask for proof. He said she received a call and hung up and gave him the approval and to pick up thevisa june... That was it

This is awesome. My fiance and I were denied because of the "how did we meet" question. I guess keeping it simple is best. I'm just happy for you guys.

SN- 6:15 was the time you told him to get there for the interview and I think you said 6/15 will be the day he arrives. (I noticed because that is my bday and my fav numbers! I told my mom those numbers were lucky LOL)

  11. Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of packaging my 129F packet this week and I just realized that AT&T does not show names on their detailed phone log. My phone calls to him do list GHANA as the country, however the incoming calls from him just list his number. Is my fiance's phone number sufficient proof of his phone calls to me? I am also including a few emails, IM chats, and photos.

    Thanks!

  12. Congradulations! I just want to clarify, that your ghanaian wife needed to provide a "new" birth certificate on interview day? And what "extra" stuff did you have in your packet? I really want to over do it so that there are a limited amount of questions like your interview. I plan on attending the interview with my fiance because he was denied on his first interview in 2009. I don't want to take any chances.

  13. In our case the CO wanted letters we had written to each other and pictures from our first meeting. The letters were not presented at the initial interview because there were only about 5-6 and we thought it was not much. We didn't have pictures from our initial meeting (long story).

The CO can ask for anything that they want spanning the length of the relationship.

I have a question. If I am providing IM chats, emails, and phone records, would they still ask me for letters? We don't write letters so I'm scared if they ask and I don't have it, they will make up that reason to say they need more evidence. Are they that picky?

  14. When Florence picked up packet 3 and 4 in June, the interview was scheduled for January 2012. We were disappointed by the long wait but at least we had a date. On July 28, Florence got a call from the embassy informing her that the interview was moved up to August 24. I received an e-mail from the embassy confirming this. Very nice. We had to scramble to gather the documents and get her medical exam but she was ready on time. The CO was polite and professional. Her documents included 10 photos, 10 months of phone bills showing lots of calls, three chat sessions, 2 years tax transcripts, bank letter, my divorce decree and all the required forms and other docs. The CO asked for more pictures from my first visit in Nov 2010. Fortunately, she had printed some on her own so she produced them. The CO said all our paperwork was in order and that he believed the relationship was genuine. Approved! He gave her a blue slip with a visa pickup date next month. Florence told me she was very worried because most people were denied that day. I can't wait to see her.

The Visa Journey community was a great help during this process. Thanks

This is such a blessing to hear. Congrats. I can only pray our petition goes this smoothly!

  15. Hello everyone! This is my first post. Last year my fiance was denied his visa and told they needed more evidence of our relationship. We sent them everything they asked for but they denied him after 10 minutes because they didn't like that we met through a mutual friend. Isn't that how most people meet each other? Anyway, I was told I should attend the next interview with him and things will go better. So no I'm in the process of re-filing since our first petition expired. I read here under Ghana Consulate Information that petitioner is NOT allowed in the interview, but several posts said they did attend.

Can anyone tell me which is true? I do plan on flying over and really want to attend to know that we did all we could possibly do.

    Thanks in advance!
