  2. hi everyone,

i sent my application for a tourist visa to visit my fiance in algeria for the first time. i submitted a copy of my airplane e-ticket and a confirmed hotel reservation for 4/11/2011 to 18/11/2011 (i had to specify my dates of entry and exit into algeria). i submitted everything well in advance and spoke to their visa department numerous times and was assured that i would receive my visa in time. however, the 4th of november has come and gone and i still have not received it. they called me the day of my departure to say that i needed a letter of invitation from my fiance in algeria but it needs to be notarized by the city hall of his area. so i had to cancel my flight (which cost me) and my hotel reservation. i was able to reschedule my vacation time at work but if i don't get my visa within the next week then i won't be able to push it back again. i need to go visit my fiance. everything is time sensitive at this point.

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME BY TELLING ME WHAT INFORMATION NEEDS TO BE IN THIS LETTER OF INVITATION? the algerian embassy website doesn't say what needs to be in there. i've tried looking up templates or suggestions online but to no avail.

i was planning on going for two weeks. i'm scared that they're going to ask me for a new plane ticket and hotel reservation since they've obviously thrown off the scheduling of my initial trip. this will tack on a couple of days for me to send it to them. and i'm also scared that we're going to write a letter of invitation that does not contain the required information. i'm guessing it has to include my passport # but should it list my new potential visit dates like 11/11/2011 to 25/11/2011? i'd appreciate any help, especially from people that have sent successful letters of invitation to algeria.

    many thanks!

  3. hi, y'all!

i'm trying to get my I-129F documents ready and i was wondering where i'm supposed to send it to. i'm in chicago and i've seen other posts that talk about sending stuff to chicago or somewhere on the east or west coast. i can't remember the context of the postings but i just want to confirm that i'm supposed to send the I-129F to the USCIS Dallas Lockbox and that there are no regional offices that i'm supposed to send it to (didn't think texas was very regional).

also, on the fiance(e) letter of intent, the template on visa journey has a section to list the address of the USCIS so would i be listing the USCIS Dallas Lockbox address here (USCIS, P.O. Box 660151, Dallas, TX 75266)?

any help would be appreciated as always.

    thanks!

  4. ok. so i have plans to go visit my fiance in october of this year. he is in algeria but we're going to meet up in tunisia. so i have a few questions about providing documentation of our relationship:

    1. i was hoping to send the pictures of us together to a family member through email or something, have him/her print them out and then submit my I-129 for me. would it be OK to have someone else submit for me while i am still with him overseas? i'm not sure if they would question it in any way.

    2. the next question is proof of my visit other than pictures. if i want to submit while i'm overseas, just to get things started ASAP, would they accept scanned images of my passport and plane ticket? i don't want to have to wait till i return to submit so i was wondering if scanned images of my flight and passport documents would be acceptable since i would already have the pictures as proof of our meeting. i could also send pictures of us with receipts or something??? i'm not sure what will serve as proof other than pics, passport and flight itinerary.

    3. just to confirm, regarding forms, i only have to submit the I-129, I-134 and G-325A (his and mine)? along with the documentation.

    4. now for the letter of intent and the G-325A, these have to be originals signed by him?? can his letter of intent be in english? he speaks and writes in english, though not fluently, but i'm not sure what they will accept and whether it has to be in arabic/french.

just out of curiosity, has any american been to tunisia recently? i've read that as an american, i don't need a visa to enter tunisia but i just want to make sure this is true. if so, how was it? do they allow non-married couples to stay in the same hotel room?

if there are any tunisians, hit me up as i have some questions i'd like to ask about the area.

    thanks for everyone's help!

  5. thanks for everyone's responses to my last topic. i know we have to meet in person. i was just hoping we could get the process started before officially doing it.

my question now, regarding the face-to-face meeting requirement, is whether we have to meet face-to-face once or twice within the last two years?

if we meet up in october, can i submit the I-129F upon my return to the states? i've found some conflicting information online that says once in the last two years and others that say twice.

    i appreciate your help!

  6. hello, all!

before i begin, thank you for everyone's help.

i'm a female american and i met my algerian fiance (who lives in algeria) four years ago online. i met him while i was separated from my husband and we fell in love.

we have talked almost every single day for the last four years. we usually talk by instant messenger (skype) but occasionally talk by phone (using phone cards) or we'll text each other.

we have not met in person. i was scared to travel to algeria especially after the bombing at the embassy and i thought i would stick out like a sore thumb as an american. i'm ready to go out there now but...

we want to submit for a k-1 visa BEFORE we've met each other. i would like to submit the I-129F some time this month (after receiving his letter of intent to marry and passport photo in the mail/post per the k-1 guides on VJ). so we have some questions:

    1. the BIGGEST QUESTION: will the I-129F be denied because we have not met in person? i've read about waivers or explaining the hardship for why we didn't meeting. we can prove that we've been in a relationship for the last 4 years because we have our IM conversations, emails, phone bills with calls or text messages received/sent. i was scared to travel there because of safety reasons. i read about all the travel warnings issued by the state department. i also read about a couple of different bombings there. since reading about the k-1, i've finally mustered up the courage to go see him but we had a few set backs so we probably won't meet up until october. is there any way that i can forward pictures of us together in algeria after i've submitted the I-129F, to further support the petition? i don't want to waste our time and hopes by submitting now if we're just going to get denied.

    2. has anyone had their k-1 approved without having met in person and for non-religious/cultural reasons?

we would appreciate any and all help on this. we've waited long enough and really just want to get started on this ASAP.

    Thanks!!
