  1. CFO sticker can only be obtained/ stamped after you received the visa NOT during the seminar.

I know. I went through all that. Right after I received my visa I went to seminar and obtain my sticker in one day.

Will explain her situation they got married APRIL of this year, submit I-30 package around MAY and waited for their NSO marriage certificate and went to DFA with all the requirements needed and had her passport around third week of JUNE and never asked for CFO seminar or sticker. I don't know why she was able to do it without the CFO seminar.

  2. My wife wants to change her maiden name to her married name on her Philippines passport. Does anyone know anything about how to do it? One of her friends said she has to go to some kind of seminar before she can get it changed.

    where did you get married?

if its here in the U.S you need to report your marriage and change her Philippine Passport to her married name to Philippine Consulate near you. If it was in the Philippines you need to go to DFA and provide documents of your marriage. I don't know about seminar.

  3. Sounds like to me from what all of you are saying is that we need to bring to the CFO everything that was required for our interview at the embassy. One would think that if she was approved for a visa at the embassy that the people at the CFO would already know that she has submitted all the required info such as centomars and divorced decrees and photos of us together and so on. I heard someone say that that she needs my mothers maiden name. Really? That info to me is kind of sensitive and for sure could be used as a way of identity theft. Don't ya think? Oh well, I will be with her at the CFO so if they insist on that info I'm going to ask why they need it. Let you all know how it turns out.

she have forms to fill out about her fiancee, it is like a test if she really does know everything about him without looking on papers with her fiancee's detail. In our seminar back in Cebu, the NUNS were really pointed that out the some girls here still need to call their fiancee for details. They were really observant on how you confidently fill out those forms. But every seminar is different though.

And Yeah NO CFO you can't fly to U.S.

  4. Just got an RFE for marriage certificate (i sent the decorative copy DOH!).

So the court house just issued me a certified one- and photocopied it for me.

But the photocopy- you really cant see the seal. Theres no way any other photocopy I do- will show the seal- because its light not dark.

So should I send the certified copy or the photocopy that you cant see the seal?

I can easily go to the court house and get another certified (sealed copy) for $5.

    What do you think?

just send the certified copy to be sure

  5. Good day to all!

I am under a K1 visa and have entered the US almost 3 weeks ago. I am torn between other posts regarding the application of a Social Security Number.

Our wedding is planned to be in two weeks. And we're looking forward to applying for my SSN thereafter. However, I am not sure what surname should I use on my SS application after marriage, would it be my maiden name still or my new married surname? It's a bit confusing since some posts say that several SS offices do not accept K1 applicants after marriage, that married K1 applicants should wait for their Green Card to get an SSN. I am in great need of my SSN since my Nurses Licensure Exam will expire and be nulled in a month if I won't be able to supply them my SSN.

What's the best thing to be done? Should I apply for an SSN BEFORE or AFTER marriage?

How long does it usually take for the card to be delivered?

I am based in Florida right now, any comments regarding the offices here?

I would apply before getting married if you plan on taking your husband's last name.

If you apply after marriage and you want your card on your married name you won't be able to do that cause your immigration records is still on your maiden name.

Get SSN first usually take 1-2 weeks. I had mine within one week.

Just change your SSN last name after you get married and before your I-94 expired.

  6. So they say for the CFO we need the following.......

Requirements for Attendance to Guidance and Counseling Program

    1.Two (2) valid identification cards (IDs) with photograph;

    2.Duly completed guidance and counseling form;

3.If married, certified true copy and photocopy of marriage contract on security paper from the National Statistics Office, or Local Civil Registry Offices; or original and photocopy of marriage contract duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/ Consulate (if married abroad)

4.Other documents as may be required by the counselors; and

    5.Payment of P250.00 counseling fee.

What if any is the "Other documents as may be required by the counselors" ? Is there somthing else we will need? Number 3 doesn't apply in our case.

if your not married just bring copies of birth certificate and your cenomar.

  7. The space provided on the forms - i-130, g-325a, ds-230 are not enough!!! They say you can attach a sheet of paper and continue your answers there... WHAT ARE THE SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS ? NAME AND DATE on the RIGHT TOP CORNER OR RIGHT DOWN CORNER??? i also read somewhere that you have to write your social security number or alien number...-what if you dont have one? (we are overseas). Are all the instructions on how to attach a continuation sheet the same? or do they differ from form to form'???

Any input wou;d be highly appreciated!

attach a sheet of paper next to the form and write the number question you are answering. we placed the name, date, signature right down corner. But I don't think it doesn't matter how you want it.

  8. Just always let her know how you work hard and it is important for her to know that you too is struggling paying bills and stuff yourself. That there is no easy money in the U.S. You need to make a picture that you don't always have the money if she needed something. In short keep her informed that you guys will be living together pay check to pay check or something like that. Just like Philippines.

  9. My husband is in a military too and went RESERVE 3 months before my interview and went to school using army's benefit like GI Bill and stuff, so he doesnt have income really but on my interview I submitted latest form 1040, reserve army pay stub, and army employment status showing his contract date in the RESERVE unit, his bank statements and W-2. And had a back up form 1040 and W-2's for the past 2 years just in case they'll ask which they didnt. Include assets too like cars or house on I-134.

And explaining your situation on a letter or like a cover letter. Like a promise he is doing his best to go get a job or to better himself so he can provide you. But I know every situation is unique and it works for us and now we are happily together and married and expecting a baby soon.

    Good Luck!
