  1. I also received a 1-797 notice.... Called USCIS and they asked me to pay the fee and mail the copy of the notice with the receipt of the payment. Called back in 8-10 days, USCIS said to resend the letters because there was glitch in their system. It has been over 20 days and still have not heard anything

can i ask?... before you came to the US are you paid for the $165 immigrant fee?... Try to speak the tier 2 officer.

  2. Hi VJers,

I just arrived in San Francisco exactly a week ago(POE on April 10th, How true when Mark Twain once commented "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco"!!!! Such chilly winds...) and now me and hubby are waiting anxiously for my SSN and greencard to arrive since we are planning on relocating to somewhere else soon.

I read the instructions and plenty of posts on this forum to know where to apply for my SSN if it doesn't arrive in due time. How about the green card? I understand it has something to with the USCIS. Is there anyway to track the status of my green card? Or is there somewhere I can enquiry if it doesn't come within one month? What if we want to change our address? Is it a way to do it? Thanks a lot for any reply!

hi we were the same POE san francisco and same date of arriving...what time did you arrive? me 8 pm .. i didn't receive my SSN and green card ...

  4. Hello everyone, my mother-in-law is a Permanent Resident and have filed for her sons and daughters. Her first I-130 petition was filed in June 2012 and within two weeks she had a priority date of 12 June 2012. Since then she has filed for her son and daughter since July 2012 and we have not received any notices from USCIS......is it normal to be this long without any respond?? all I-130 petitions went to the Chicago Lockbox and we live in Virginia. Thank you in advance on any info provided.

If you have any concerns about the filed petitions just call the USCIS here is the number 1-800-375-5283...

  5. The immigration officer called my home early in the morning but i wasnt there, my mother picked up this is how it went: Good morning this is Officer Smith,is Mrs. M home? Mom:No she stepped out, IO: May i please have a number to contact her ? Mom:yes its #######,Offcee what is going on with my daughters case? IO: well i need to speak to her asap because she needs to get her fingerpeints done, for her green card. Mom:ok call her . then i receive a call but i didnt hear my phone, she left a voicemail it went like this : Hi this message is for K.J.M this is officer Smith i need you to give me a call back at this number i need you to get your fingerprints done asap thank you. I was still half asleep and i deleted the voicemail!!! Now i have no number to call her back and th natonal number is closed. Do the RFE letters have the officers phone number? my attorney has it,i spoke to him and he said that she needs to send me an official biometrics letter and she shouldnt be calling me she should be calling him. He said just let it go and be calm to wait for another call or a biometrics appointment. Im so confused i dont know what to do with my self right now! Why would she call me on saturday and why call me to get my fingeprints done if i just did them June? What do i do now? Does the RFE letter have her number?

they have a work every saturday because they also called my husband last saturday to informed that they working my petition and after 3 days i got my approval....

  6. Did anyone get any good info from their phone calls???

Last friday my husband called and he spoke the tier 2 officer. The next day they called back to my husband to informed that they working my petition and it's been 4 days now, I got my approval... :)

  7. It is extremely rare that they contact someone by phone, most communication is by letter. What did they say when he was contacted?

People have gotten approved notifications on Saturdays so yes, they seem to be working then.

thank you for replying..... they said that they working now on my petition and they corrected the wrong info. that they gave to my husband when he called.

  8. Hi, I'm new to this so thought I would try my luck....

I just entered the USA a couple months ago. Married to a US citizen for the past three years. I recieved my green card.

My husband told me I can apply for my citizenship 90 days prior to being here for 3 years.

My question to you guys is...

How long before I can petition for my mom, residing in India?

Should I wait for for my citizenship or apply now?

And how long would the wait be?

  9. My service center is Vermont. I have filed petitions on May 6 and called to updated on October 18.

The way how i updated my i-130 cases(spouse and 2 kids) to status IR-1, was calling USCIS and providing my details through phone.

Then i received a REF#, after a week i called back and have been told that my petition status is updated to IR-1

I did not receive the "notice of receipt" in mail so far.

@pinay28, how did your husband update the i-130 petition to be an IR-1 ?

after his oath he called the USCIS to upgrade my petition and then he mailed an upgrade letter, copy of his naturalization certificate and notice of a receipt to CSC... If you called the USCIS and they said that you are already approved, it's a true...

  10. Just an update.

I have called USCIS today, and provide them EACXXXXXX numbers to check the status.

They told me that my case has been updated to IR-1 on Oct 22, 2012.

Hope this will help, someone in the middle of the road.

my petition also has been updated on Oct. 26, 2012..... and my husband received a notice of receipt for my upgrading petition...are you already received that? when did you file a petition to your spouse and 2kids?...
