  1. I don't know what you're taking. Each person may have slightly different things. A letter from employer is 1 page. A tax transcript is 1-2 pieces of paper. That would get someone by with 3 pieces of paper plus the form I-134.

What do you have soooooo much of? Describe.

Had interview on tuesday and was approved!! It really wasn't that bad at all. My visa arrived this morning too YAY. Hoping to leave in the next couple of weeks. Thankyou for your help guys :)

  2. Morning VJer's

I have seen conflicting requirements for the number of passport photo's to be provided at interview stage. I wonder if anyone can clarify and do they need to be countersigned by anyone?

    Thanks

I am at the same stage too,I have my interview on Tuesday. I have 2 American sized passport photos, that is the information that I got off the embassy website link that was sent to me with me interview date. It says nothing about them being notarised either, however I have read lots of conflicting information which is confusing!! I think different embassys require different things.... Goodluck :)

  3. Thankyou for both of your replys, you were both so helpful!!

I have my MRV receipt for paying the visa, passport and birth certificate meet the requirements luckily....I think I have all the supporting stuff for the affadavit but will double check it all.

Maybe I will take the packet 3 documents, just to be on the safe side :)

Looking forward to it but its so scary!!

  4. Hey guys I have my interview in a nearly weeks time and I really am getting worried now and its stressing me out, which is bugging ny fiance like crazy :)

I think I have everything prepared for my interview paperwork wise. Birth certificate and copy, Passport and copy, police certificate and copy, 2x American sized passport photos, affadavit of support and co-sponsor too.

I have read that you may also need to take copies of the forms that have already been submitted with packet 3 like DS-156 DS 230 etc (I don't remember them all off the top of my head.) Is this true because it doesn't say on the list iv-19 ??

I'm finding this all very confusing and overwhelming at the moment and I just want to be prepared. I'd appreciate any help or input please :)

    Sincerly Sophie

  5. Hey my fiance and I are on our last stage of our K1 visa and I have my interview in nearly 2wks. My fiance is a student and only just makes the the minimum financial requirements so his parents have kindly said they would be my co-sponsor. They have nearly finished filling it it all in and are ready to send it to me. I'm just wondering what are all the supporting documents they also need to send?? On some websites I have seen that they need to send a copy of there birth certificate and have all the paperwork notarised. I don't think it says that on the actual forms??

Also at the interview will they think any less of our relationship if we have to use a co-sponsor and would it affect our chances??

Can someone please let me know what they need?? I am worrying about everything at the moment. Much appreciated xx

  6. For London you can have a co-sponsor. If it makes you feel better then by all means get his parents to complete an I-134 and provide their tax returns. But you may not need to submit that paperwork at the interview: you need only hand it over if they question the sufficiency of your fiance's income. Even if it just gives you peace of mind it's worth it :-)

    Thankyou..... I just hope it'll all be ok,fingerscrossed :)

  7. Hey everyone a little enquiry about co-sponsors

My fiance is a student at the moment and only has a part time job. On the affidavit of support he still earns over the minimum requirements but this still worries me. His parents have offered to be a co-sponsor for us. I have my interview 13th September in London,I know in some countrys you can't have a co-sponsor?? Do you think we should,so at least we have a back up. I just hope everything will go ok,it just worries me. Any ideas or info appreciated :)

  8. Received an email from the US Embassy in London today, notifying me that my visa interview has been scheduled for September 13. That's reasonably quick after my medical exam on July 26, the results of which were delayed a week because I had not received my police certificate at the time of the examination. A little apprehensive, but mainly excited!

I had my medical on the 25th July and also have my interview 13th September!!!! I am also excited but very worried.......GOODLUCK :)

  9. If his income is over the minimum requirement then he is fine :-) Plus he has savings so it becomes even more obvious that he meets the requirement :-) There are no extra requirements beyond the basic ones. That is, if you meet the requirement then it really does not matter about anything else! They don't go, "oh he earns enough but he's a student and hmm I don't know..."

In addition to the tax returns and proof of assets, make sure you have proof of his current wage from his employer and proof of his monthly veteran benefits.

I know I will include as much as I can. My fiance thinks it'll all be fine because he makes over the requirement but after reading someone else's experience it made me worry. I just hope it'll be ok.......Thankyou for your input you've helped to my mind at ease :)

  10. If anything, him being a student should make it better because then they know that he is trying to further his education so he can get a better pay.

I totally understand. I'm the petitioner, and I just barely make the requirements and his country doesn't allow co-sponsors. :( It's tough

Thankyou....its good to know other people are in the same boat

  11. Hey everyone

I have my interview scheduled for 13th September. I sent off my affidavit of support because one of the forms said it was required. I am also going to take a copy of it to my interview it says it is needed. I am worried that we will have problems!! My fiance earns just over the minimum requirement because he is now a student and only works a few hours a week for now....he was in the military and receives veteran benefits,he has his own house and also has a large amount of savings. He is planning on returning to the military when he finishes his degree next year. I am planning to apply for a work permit as soon as I'm over there too so I can work. We have his past 3yrs tax returns and a list of his assets.

I am just worried that they will be funny because he is student and not working a great deal. Do you think this will be a problem, I'm kind of worried because we are so close :)

  12. Hey I had my medication the 25th July and I'm pretty sure I sent off my packet 3 2wks prior to that!?!?! I would call the number and see if its still being processed,I called to check they had my stuff,I have heard of peoples letters being misplaced?? I hope you hear off them soon, try not to worry....fingerscrossed

    I meant medical :)

  13. Got my letter this morning for my interview 13th September.....I. just hope it goes ok,fingerscrossed

  14. Here's what it says goes with the DS2001 readiness form:

When you have obtained all of the required documents and are prepared for the visa interview, you are required to complete the Notification of Applicant(s) Readiness, Form 2001 and mail it to the Immigrant Visa Unit together
with a covering letter containing your email address, if applicable, date of your wedding and date of the medical examination
    .

Anyway if you said October, they may figure you dont need an interview until a month before. If you had said next January was the date, I was going to say they will put you off for sooner wedding dates and that could be a reason they may not schedule right away. But with an October date...well that's soon. I think it will be scheduled shortly. Call DOS in the US and ask if it's scheduled. A few people never got the letters and found out the appt date from DOS.

Good luck. Hard to wait when you get sooooo close.

The information on that women's experience at the interview was so helpful, I'm so surprised they don't check everything like crazy!! I've been trying to do the same like gather so much, emails, cards, dating photos.... I might get a few things just in case but not panic myself like I was!!

I called the embassy on the stupidly expensive line and spoke to a nice Scottish man who said that it had been received and not to worry it was still processing and would probably take a couple of wks administration. I'm going to try and be patient (which is easier said than done, haha.)

A last minute question when did you call and pay the MRV interview fee of $350.....should I do it now or wait till I have a date and do it?? I really appreciate your help :)

  15. Are you talking about the DS-forms you sent to London...that packet?? If you read their instructions, they only want the forms with no documents, passport photos, proofs, etc. That's London's way of doing business. If you sent other stuff beside the forms, then don't panic.

Re conflicting information on the internet...Yes it is difficult at some consulates and they mistrust people because of many many many fraudulent visa scam cases. I'm just telling you that London is not a high fraud consulate. You don't have to prove your love or engagement to them. Heck we've sailed through (next stop citizenship) with no engagement ring or parties, no formal wedding or wedding rings, and I didn't even change my last name. Just saying those things are not required to be successful.

You didn't answer my earlier question and I had a reason for asking to offer more help.

Did you send DS-2001 readiness form. When?

Did you include the requested cover letter?

What date did you give them as your intended wedding date?

Actually I think I put the that we would schedule it in october

I really think I've over complicated things!! I sent my DS-2001 about 3wks ago now along with the other requested forms etc. I included a cover letter too but wasn't a 100% sure of what to write.....I hope it won't take too long to process!! You've really helped out and I wished I'd asked for a little input before I'd sent off the documents, haha. I was getting so paranoid that I needed like a million photos of us doing everything etc. The only thing I didn't put was the date of the wedding because on one of the forms (not sure which one??)it said not to plan anything/or make travel arrangements until you were actually issued a visa???? We are planning on arranging it all within the 2-3mths of me getting over there, its going to be a bit of a crazy rush but I've done what I can this end and brought my wedding dress here....

    Hope Dublin is similar

    Fingers crossed for us all!!

  17. Hi Sophie and Nate

I am also in the same position as you, well maybe 2 weeks behind. My medical is done and packet 3 sent and I called the embassy in London today to see if they received my packet 3. The nice man on the phone said it takes them 2-4 weeks to process the DS-230 Part 1 etc etc and I should call back then and he would be able to TELL ME THE INTERVIEW DATE OVER THE PHONE!!! Therefore, seems like you should be calling them round about now! beats waiting for the postman :-)

    Find their number here,

    http://london.usembassy.gov/visa_contact_information.html

have have you case number handy.

With Regards to your interview and photos, no harm in taking some. I sent photos of me with my finaces family and him with mine etc as proof of our continual relationship. I have also read alot on line that you should take copies of everything you have ever submitted to them to the interview, like all you I-129f forms etc etc, as there has been reports that certain forms have been "mislayed" and if your able to produce them there and then, then it can only go in your favour. Therefore, whilst you wait for your interview date, wont hurt to get you finace to resign (if you didnt take photocopies of the original) forms which required his signatures and post them over to you.

Good Luck!!!!! I know how you feel, this final hurdle is the worst :-(

    hey Jim and Nay

Thankyou for helping to put me at ease. Any information and help during this process is much appreciated, its so nice to know that other people are going through the same thing and having the same worries as me.....sometimes I think I'm going visa crazy!! Luckily this is the last stage and lets hope it all goes ok.....GOODLUCK!!!!!!!!

  18. Thank you so much for your information, you've been very helpful!! I see so much conflicting evidence on the internet that I never no what the right info is. Its also so easy to over complicate things too.....My fiance Nathaniel tells me I need to be patient and not to panic, haha. I know that I read on the embassy website that it takes up to 5 days for them to get your medical results??

Also thank you for putting my mind a little at rest because I have seen that lots of people have sent pictures with there packet as proof of engagement?? I was real worried because I hadn't and just assumed I needed them for the interview....I had loads I was going to take with me!!

I did send proof of engaement....engagement ring receipt, recent letters of intent and engagement cards?? I hope that was ok..

  19. Just saw the other post that came while I was replying my first time. You do NOT need any of the I-129 packet, or NOA2, or extra signed originals from your fiance, or his birth certificate. Just take photocopies of any of your originals that you want back like your birth certificate, divorce decree, military records--anything that applies to you that you are required to bring.

Spare copies of your forms that you sent DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157, DS-230, part 1 would be the only "just in case" thing you would need in case they mislaid them. The I-129F petition to USCIS is done and dusted and this is now the Dept of State and the visa application stage.

PS to anybody else reading---This is London. Other consulates may be different.

  20. Hey everyone.....I had my medical last Monday and everything was signed off ok on the Thursday and couried to the embassy in London. All of my paperwork was sent off 3wks ago. I have not heard from the embassy yet and just wondered on average how long it took for your interview to be scheduled?? Do I have to do anything like call the embassy or do I just sit tight and hope to hear off them soon....

I have also been reviewing interview questions and information. If anyone has any advice for my interview it would be much appreciated, the more prepared I am the better!!!! Should I take lots of photos with me or just some meaningful ones to us and would it look good if I took the ones of us all together with my parents and his??

Thankyou, hope everyone is having a good day xx
