  1. Recently I paid the fee for the visa application and it took me to a few pages to read. Within these pages it said I need copies of basically every document I have sent in thus far. Do I need to resend all these again or is it just going over documents previously sent in? I dont know why they would want me to resend them all over again. So before I go and spend all this time gathering certified copies again I would like to make sure.

If anyone has information about this they would like to share, I would appreciate the input.

  2. Hello, I hope someone might know the answer to this, I need the barcode for the agent form and I wanted to know if its the one they sent in a email to me in PDF format. DO I print that and paste it on the form? If not, please tell me how I get this because I have no luck finding it so far.

Thank you for the help. Stressed here......

  3. I recently paid my AOS fee and got an email stating that I can now send in the Agent document and the AOS. I noticed it said to place a bar code there at the top. I am not sure where to get that at. I noticed one on my first and second NOA. Is that the bar code I need there? I tell you this process drives me crazy. By the time a person goes through this process, its like going to college, we know everything there is to know about the visa process. Any help you can offer is appreciated. Thanks everyone and I wish you all the best of luck with your processing.

  4. Thank you for the links. Mainly I am concerned that I will be forced to go over there to file this in person and that is tough because I own my own construction business and it is very difficult to make the time to go on a trip like that. Things I have read are a little confusing because it refers to parent(s) and my question is does that mean either parent (american or not)can file these papers? I prefer her to deliver them to the consulate there.

  5. My wife resides in the Philippines and I have appplied for her Visa in August of 2011. We were married before I applied and our marriage took place in the Philippines. I have received my first AOS and still waiting for the process.

During my time there, my wife became preganant. She gave birth the 21st of Feb of this year. I wanted to know if I can file the Child born abroad form?

I am born and raised in the USA and my wife is not a citizen nor is her own visa approved yet. I read some articles on this and I wanted to find out from anyone who has went through this process any information they want to share. Can a father in the USA apply for this? We are waiting for his birth Certificate to be mailed to her right now. The baby was conceived after we were married and we have proof of the relationship, medical exams and and all that. This whole process is really tough. If anyone has information, i would love to hear it. Thank you

  6. Something else I am wondering is, the things they require to show legitimacy and the passport request, do I have to deliver documentation myself or can my wife deliver these things to the consulate? If I traveled over there, I have no idea how long it would take to process all these things and get my hands on the passport and all the required things. I have a business here and cant get away so easy. Does anyone have some input on that topic? Surely they consider issues like that?

Thank you all for the swift responses. You ease alot of stress from people by sharing what you know. Thank you again.

  7. so it means that you have to spend 5 years(at least) as a U.S. citizen to qualify to transmit U.S. citizenship to a child? even though you living 10 years in

    USA legally?

Barath, in my interpretation of what was wrote,I think you must be a citizen for 5 years before you are allowed to trasmit. It seemed to me that you also had to reside in the USA for the previous 5 years and not live aboard. It would be a good idea to research that question unless someone else knows more about it though.

  8. My husband is a USC and I am a Canadian. Our daughter was born here in Canada after we sent in our I-130. We filed for the Child born abroad and dealt with the US consulate here in Vancouver. He had to prove his citizenship and that he had lived in the US for the previous 5 years (school documents for him). We went in for our appointment, provided all the documentation, and she received her citizenship documents, passport, and SSN in the mail shortly afterwards.

Awesome to hear Lorus. I am glad to hear that not only for myself but for you. Wow this information makes me so happy to know.

  9. Just to clarify this point... what Anh means is you don't need a visa for the child unless you've ONLY recently obtained USC. There are requirements for passing on USC (time in the US and how long you've been a USC). So if you just naturalised the child may not be eligible for USC and therefore MAY require a visa.

If you were born a USC you have no issues. If you were naturalised you should look into the requirements for passing on USC via CRBA.

    .

I am born a raised in the USA. I will definately look into the born abroad information you speak of. I was worried that if the visa was accepted and then my wife decides to wait until after the baby is born, I would have to file a visa for him and her visa would expire because it takes forever to process this stuff.

  10. I have gotten mixed answers for this question so I will ask here. I have married a filipina in Manila. She is carrying my baby and is due in March. I filed for her visa and received a NOA in August the 28th. I am concerned she will be to far along for her to fly here with the baby still in the oven (if the visa is approved) My first ? is, will they say no because she is pregnant? Second, if she has the baby there, do I have to now file a visa for him too or do I file a baby born abroad?

I could really use some help with these questions. I am worried about all sorts of things and it would ease my mind to know what I should do. Please dont respond if you haven't had this situation unless you really know the answer. thanks everyone and I wish you all a merry christmas and hope your visa issues are quickly taken care of.

  11. He is worried about sending all that information because he lost money in a oil scam once and a law firm contacted him about money that a company owed him for work completed on a job and the law firm sued the company and took off with the money. So I can see where he doesnt trust people with his mutal fund numbers and access to all his retirement. Fraud is crazy these days. Even though it is the government that will recieve these docs, that doesnt mean some fella there could never get some crazy scheme going. Most of congress has been arrested for some reason or another.

Its not hard to steal from people. Its really easy even with that privacy act. That doesnt scare a real theif. Laws are made for good people, the bad people, laugh at them.

I noticed on the timeline part of this site that it says processing in CA takes 5 months. I am guessing there will be more months for the other paperwork and interview huh? Sigh. I dont know if I should file for the baby even though it isnt born yet or what?

Good luck to all of you out there doing this. I know your mind is likely a mess like mine.

Please feel free to comment on my topic if you know more about these things and want to share your experience.

  12. Another question I hope to get a reponse to is, my wife is pregnant. So I am concerned that maybe they will look at my income level for an addtional person now even though the baby isnt born yet. Should I worry about this?

Secondly, what if this process takes so long that she goes into labor in her country, do I need to start this process over again or can I add the baby into the processing?

Gosh this process is stressful, you always have questions and just dont know what the outcome will be. :(

  13. I have some questions that I hope maybe someone can answer for me. My joint sponsor is retired and has substantial assets, over 300k. Now he recieves SS and my question is, is he able to sponsor even though he is retired and does not work anymore? If yes, I know I am to send a copy of his Tax return and proof of these assets. Is it required that I send documents for all these things. (Houses he owns)He is somewhat paranoid about sending his mutal fund paper work due to the chance of it getting into the wrong hands and a person stealing his retirement, which I understand his concerns. To add more information to get better responses, he makes 2k a month on his SS and has to wait 3 more years before he begins getting his pention.

If anyone has some tips, I would appreciate the information. I tried looking through older posts but didnt see anything talking about my subject.

  14. I was reading the instruction sheet for the I-130 and it speaks of proof of relationship. On a sworn affidavit where people who attended the wedding vouce for the validity, do you have to have it notarized or is a simple signature with the address and birth place information sufficient? ( I am not sure exactly what they should say on this affidavit)

Does this sound like the proper way to word the affidavit? I here by swear and confirm the marriage of ???? and ??? on July 1st 2011. I attended the service and spent time with them after the wedding cerimony. They have 100's of facebook photos and speak to eachother everyday over the phone or other means of communication.

Thanks for the help, I have never done anything thing like this so want to do it right and I am nervous about mistakes so it makes me want to confirm things before I do them.

  15. I was hoping for some information about the process fees. My question is where do I mail these forms to? I read something about Lockbox, but I cant locate the address on the .gov site now. Hummmmm Spent a hour or more now trying to find it.

My next question is, to bring my wife here, I must file the I-130 form, then Afadavit of supportand then? Do I also need to file the DS 230?

I found the fee for the I130 is 420.00 and the Affidavit of support is 88.00 Are there any other fees I should know about?

  16. Thanks everyone for the information. If anyone else has more info, I am interested in hearing it. My plan was to keep her passport in her maiden name and file for her visa, then later we can change the name. Her passport in Ph can be renewed if we travel anywhere. Mainly, I was just concerned about the visa app and if it will cause a problem to leave her name as it is. I am hoping to have the baby here in the US so it is automatically a citizen or we will have to wait until she has it there and file papers for the child too. I am kind of on a deadline here. :) If I change her passport, that could take a month to get straightened out (all the legal documents that need a name change) If anyone else has more information, I am very interested in hearing it. I would like to hear it from more sources. Thanks again.

  17. Hi, I am trying to find out information about Passports. I live in the USA and my wife lives in the Philippines. Her name did not change after our marriage because we did not file the legal name change. She already has a passport in her maiden name. My question is, does she need to change her name and passport information to my last name before I file for her visa? I want to make sure I do this properly. The process is already complicated enough without adding more things to do. If anyone has went through this issue, I would love to hear your input. Im gonna be a DAD! :) So I want to do this as soon as possible. Thanks
