  1. I've got a question concerning the interview scheduling for the K1 (129F). I'll try to provide some info to hopefully explain the question clearly. Today- Dec. 19- we received our NOA2! We filed in early July, and have weddings planned for mid-May (in Korea) and June in the US in 2013. Timing shouldn't be an issue.

Now comes my question- my fiance is going to come to visit me in the US basically for the whole month of March. She lives at home now with her mom, so any mail which gets sent to her home can be conveyed to us VIA momma.

I'm expecting that she will probably be contacted by the embassy before she comes here in March. Obviously, she can't go in for her interview before she comes in March, because we are getting married in Korea on May.

So the question- I've seen others above who noted that interview dates can be arranged online. Is this the same for K1 filers? Ideally she would make an appointment for interview within the first week or so of returning back to Seoul.

BTW.. this is my first post in VJ. Any advice or tips pertaining to the US embassy there would be greatly appreciated. I lived in Korea for a few years as a student and worked in a company. Now I live in New York and I work in the Korean Consulate here. Just trying to get her here legally!

    Thanks again everyone!

Since your fiance is entering the US before the K-1 visa is issued, you should read this this: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/67796-yes-you-can-visit/

The appointment at the US Embassy in Seoul wasn't setup by us, but was given to us. You can request for it to be rescheduled after it is set.

  2. I received an email saying that I can't schedule my interview past March 9th until the new website for visa application procedures comes up.

Quoted from Seoul IV email: "The website will be activated on March 9, 2012 and will be posted on the US Seoul Embassy Website." It will be called GSS (Global Support Strategy)

    ---------

So the appointment requests online website will be outdated come the end of the second week of March. I just hope that the website runs smoothly and I can get a good interview date scheduled for my wife. I plan on taking a month of vaction to fly back to Korea to help her with everything.

    I got it worked out.

Even if you request an appointment on the first day the new layout is available, my best guess would be April at the earliest because they are filling late March spots last week.

  3. What if you worked 2 jobs over 8 months in the year of 2011 and had a total income barely over 125% for a 2 person household, but the second job is your current job you've had for almost 6 months and the yearly pay is almost 3x the 125% level. Would you still send your 2011 tax returns with all these other documents of proof? A letter of employment, pay stubs, bank statements, W2's, IRA statement, and stock statement?

  4. This was probably coincidental, but it never hurts to try. I signed, scanned, and emailed a Privacy Release Form, NOA1 letter, and official letter to my US Senator stating to look into my application. I made sure to find out which staff member to email at the local office in your State. Don't contact anyone in Washington D.C. The local state offices handle these requests. I sent it all in an email 5 days ago and got a NOA2 touch email today.

    Thanks Markieboy!

  5. Yesterday was 5 months since I mailed in the fiancé visa petition. Really was hoping to receive our approval. I called USCIS and they said our case is just waiting for the decision and as far as they could tell no other information is required from me. I was told to call back on January 17 and they will put in a service request as our petition is still under the 5 month processing, for the received date of August 15. I know that this is the standard reply, but maybe we will hear before then and we won't have to put in a service request ;)

Hey the 17th, that's something to look forward to. :)

  6. Okay then you can use www.blogger.com for free. I don't understand spruiking a paid site.

Most blogging websites are very restrictive in how you use them, along with long URLs, but Tumblr provides more flexibility and a custom domain is only ~$11/year. It's not for everybody, but those who like to be creative and make something their own can have fun with it. Just passing on years of web dev experience to anybody who wants it.

  7. Thanks for this post, I will try to do this at some point, soon. So much on here to learn and absorb, I want to do it right the first time...no stumbling blocks, if possible.

It can seem daunting at first, but it's really not that bad once you do it and I would suggest using GoDaddy if you are starting out fresh. We have an account with them too and can give you detailed screenshots if you need them.

  8. This is just a helpful guide for those who would like to share their new family life via the internet with their own custom website without knowing any web development skills and at a reasonable cost.

    1. Purchase and register your domain (ex. smithfamily.com) through a Registry like GoDaddy.com. *May take 24 hours to be active*
    2. Register an account with Tumblr.
    3. At your Registry's website, go to your domain manager and find the domains DNS settings. *This step varies depending on the Registry*
    4. Find the @ symbol under A (Host).
    5. Change the A Record to the right of @ to 72.32.231.8 and save.
    6. Go to your Tumblr Dashboard and click Preferences.
    7. Find URL section and check the "Use a custom domain name" box and type in the domain address that you purchased. Click save at the bottom.
    8. Test to see if your domain is resolving to Tumblr correctly here:
      http://www.tumblr.com/check_domain
    9. That's it! Start blogging away.

Feel free to ask any questions if you need help during this process.
