this is a normal thing in Mideast countries and i was in ap either and they said will gonna call you and they did and the visa was issued like 2 or 3 weeks after they got my passport but i would call the embassy in cairo and try to know if the AP was sent back to the stats or the case still in cairo mine was in cairo so thats why didnt take that much time good luck
