  1. Here's my story....

    Protocols

We had a 12pm appointment, arrived 30+ minutes earlier & went through checks & sat in the waiting lobby watching CNN.

I/O was a lady who had said aloud while walking in the hallway how she was running late despite being an hour earlier at work today and my wife opined that "it was monday" to which she "yeah that's true"

My Wife got called 12pm on the dot. Some 10 minutes later I got called. So After ID check and swearing of oath, she offered me a seat and and quickly asked to confirm the address where we live.

What could have been a factor in a spouse in first

Not sure what made her get called first, but a couple of things about us. We filed about a month after wedding. We had lease on only one name, we are of different races, Relative short length of stay in the US, Notoriety of spouse country, which may be true to an extent but I personally don't play up as a factor cos it's never acknowledged officially and it seems based on stereotypes which I abhor strongly. ( but then, what do i know?)

    Questions, Questions, Questions

Then she proceeded to ask the following questions which she had asked my wife

Cant remember the order they were asked....

    How did you meet?

    where in particular?

How many siblings do you have?

    what are their name?

How many does your your your spouse have ?

    what is her name?

    What's your major(school)?

where & what did you obtain your previous degree in?

    What's was your wife's major?

    Where does your wife work?

What are her work hours & position at work? **

Where did you go after the wedding? **

What are your(both of us) immediate plans... including for school?

what the color & name of the car?

    who does the laundry?

what did you have last for dinner?

Where do you put your dirty laundry?**

Where's your bedroom located in the house?

    The Rest & Verdict

What helped was the answers were mostly one word and I took less time than my wife cos she just ticked and nodded mostly,

She did help provide me with the proper answer for the 3 asterisked(**) questions above as I tried to describe rather say the word... to which I just nodded in the affirmative.

She reconfirmed my entry date on my passport and the fact that I had no prior entry, Then she asked for extra document/evidence and i handed it to her, and I suggested i had photocopies of all of it., So She just took all the copies and went out to make copies of the ID's,( wish I didn't, then maybe she may have taken time to look through all the docs we brought, not sure, it would have made any difference anyway). She also didn't take any of our few pics, cos we had sent some of them in the initial AOS file. Then she said to expect to hear from us in 2-3 weeks, thanked and show showed the way out. all in less than 30 mins.

But she did seem in a hurry to go for lunch or have another interview

    And now?

We really wish our story ended today on a high (you know nothing beats that on the spot approval feeling, right?) but our story continues and be sure I'll find time to give you updates. For now, we can only stay optimistic... and watch out for the text, emails, mails

BTW, I'll keep to my promise of name change similar to Cava's :P

Goodluck to those yet to go!!!

There seem to be a lull in posting activities for the group generally, but I think it's down to being busy with job/hunting for it & prep for interview among others, hopefully some cheering news bring atleast the "congrats" posts back in torrents soon.

Mine's just the blip in this groups success story, :crying: Let the on the spot approvals roll on!!! :D

Never the less, for those still to go, Just prepare as though you expect the worst and Hope for the best... You can never go wrong with that..

Congrats Captal, That's 7 approvals and still counting... Let the on the spot approvals roll on!!!

So much for an undecided interview experience! I'm out for now  !!!!

Keep checking on USCIS site. Hope you get the results ASAP. I know you're waiting for it. Congratulations in advance! yes.gif

  2. This is one reason I do not want to change my mailing address until everything's over.

Congrats! Waiting for the day I can say the same.

Thank You! I am very sure you would say the same...

The reason I changed the address (from Home address to PO Box is because, our mailbox has been broken many times. So to avoid losing the card, we rather received it through the safe place. yes.gif

  3. I think this is the wife that had the foot surgery and was a holy terror then. OP needs to watch "The taming of the shrew"

Yeah, I remember reading almost the same scenario/story b4.

OP: I respect you of keeping intact your family together, however, she is taking advantage of you being a good husband to her. I hope you both can resolve this. Talk to her, compromise each other, especially her being childish, now that she is becoming a mother soon...

    I wish you good luck!

  5. I see that everybody is moving good on their cases. Guess what? I just received my GC today too!! And guess what?? It's green :)))))...i was making fun of it with my friends cause i had no idea if it will be green or not :))))...Happy day!!

Ohh...and btw...i wanted to ask you guys if you have all three names on card. When i changed the name at the interview, the lady told me that i will have all the three names on it...but from the middle name it's just the initial... it's that normal? They did the same thing with my EAD and it took me 5 weeks to get the SSN...and i still don't have it...

Congratulations!!! I have my surname, mi, first name...

  6. I am happy to announce that I received NOA2 text and email last night despite my error of not sending the document at once as requested. The USCIS-CSC were still able to make correct decision when the second document was delivered to them. The whole RFE decision took 13 days from the delivery of the first document. I guess it is okay to send partial document when you don't have all document as requested. Although, I will not recommend doing it that way; however, if you made error for not sending requested document at once, you can send the other document later but ensure you are within the time allowable in your notice. Thanks to those who ease my fear when I was going through the RFE issue. Your response to my post is highly appreciated.

Good! Have a very smooth journey then! good.gif

  7. Hi...

I am in a very sad situation...

My husband (US citizen) got arrested recently and he will be in jail for a long time... i came here in the US last year via K1 visa and we haven't filed AOS yet... I don't know what I will do because I can't have a job yet or even have a drivers license... I don't know how I will support myself when my husband is in jail...I just wonder if i can file AOS so I could have the ability to work and somehow support myself...

    your help will be appreciated

    poods

OP, so sorry to hear your situation out there BUT please try hard to contact Philippine Consulate. I am very sure you still have that papers CFO was given to you prior your US travel, right? You may get help from them. Just like others said, you may have some stuff to sell in your house that could help your daily needs. I know its hard, but I pray you can get through this.

Although we have a different situation, me without EAD on hand, is scary. It is illegal when you have nothing to show when caught. You don't want to regret it later on.

You don't have timeline yet. Since when did you arrived to US? Were you not aware about AOS even right after you married?

I wish you Goodluck and God Bless you! PM me if you need someone to talk to.

  8. OP, in first place what I want to tell you, whether you are lying or not is, people CAN learn English or any other language from different sources, you can be just naturally gifted like someone else said. Good for whoever went to college, school, whatever to learn a language but some people just don't need it. I'm one of those, thanks to Backstreet Boys (lol), my old radio, TV, my old dictionary and my brain I learned English by myself. Perfect? Not at all but it could be! And I'm still learning!! Native speakers in EVERY country make mistakes, every language has slang and I really do not see how native americans here speak that good.

In fact, I don't know about everybody but where we live there are so many called "rednecks" and their grammar is terrible, way worse when speaking because of slang. The public schools here are also not that great and I see a lot of people here having a hard time spelling/reading. So basically, yes you can learn by yourself, great if you went to college but there are thousands of ways to learn a language.

Anyway, some people gave you good advice and in my opinion your husband will NOT love you more if you get your AOS done at all. There's some things that cannot be fixed, things will get worse. Just think, he will "lose" control over you and then things will get more serious. The fact that he is a military does not mean anything, their character is not tested when joining. You should follow the advice it was given to you and get yourself together, you need a plan to keep you and your son safe.

If your story is true or not, it does not matter. Too bad if it is not, at least you can see that people care. If it is real, good luck and I wish you the best.

P.S: And by the way, stop defending yourself though if you are really saying the truth. You do not owe anything to anyone in here, you got good advice already and this whole argument about your English skills is pointless. If you have any other question about the main topic, feel free to send me a message, I'll be happy to help.

  9. Had my AOS interview today - approved on spot and got GC stamp in passport so I can travel next week.

In a couple of recent posts I was worried about my wife not being able to find birth certificate and not receiving AP card, neither of these were a problem, neither were asked for. Background of me and my wife for others who may be interested.

My wife is 10 years older than me and of a different race, she was naturalized in her teens - None of this came up during interview.

Arrived at 9am for 9.30 interview at Newark. Was called for at about 10am.

Interviewed by woman who was pleasant but very professional i.e. no chit chat.

*Started of by wanting to see originals of things we submitted with original application. We had them all no problem.

*After this she asked us how we met, we both answered at the same time saying the same thing but in different ways and my wife getting the name of the place wrong! I thought this would be very bad but apparently not!

*Asked to see supporting evidence, I produced - joint bank, car insurance, medical and dental insurance, screen shot of our IMs, verizon bill - even though my name isn't on it my phone number is, 15 photos of us together around the world inc a couple with her family

*She asked for photos of the wedding and I told her I deleted them by mistake! This was news to my wife who obviously hadn't listened to me properly when I had told her! Anyway this again looked bad me and my wife saying we forgot to include them and me saying I had deleted them. In the end it passed with the IO saying she would of been so mad!!

    *Asked the yes/no questions

*Can't remember what she exactly said but said, I'm going to approve your app explained about lifiting restrictions

*I told her I was planning on leaving the country for a couple of days in 10 days time, IO said GC wouldn't come through in time and she volunterred to put GC stamp in my passport - this I feel was fortunate.

    *Said good bye

All in all the interview was less than 30 minutes and a pleasant experience. My gut feeling is that you need to bring lots of supporting docs.

    Any questions please ask

Now need to start all over and get my wife british residency!

Do I need to do anything with my SSN? I still have it from my J1 days

    Congratulations!!! kicking.gif

Why didn't I have my stamp on my passport after interview? Hmmm...huh.gif

  10. I am so concerned about my greencard... I'm schedule to travel to my home country on may 18th to pick up my k2 follow to join daughter. I have my AP already, but the fact that I am travelling without a green card still bothers me. I heard from some people that it is "risky" to travel overseas without the greencard.

If i call USCIS and ask for a service request? I've spoken to a USCIS rep just once in my life, and it wasn't helpful at all. She just basically read everything that I can see on my end everytime i check my case status online.

    :(

In your timeline says that your case was transferred to CSC. so I guess its gonna take time.

I am also waiting for my GC, USCIS updated that USPS picked it up already, I hope that post office will work on it blush.gif
