After my experience yeaterday and today. I would say contact the embassy. Mt fiance got answers I was told I couldn't get when I called DOS. He called the embassy this morning and got an update on our AP status.
yes, you are right. the embassy is much better to contact for non-generic answers. it's good to email them and call them, sometimes you get lucky and talk to somebody that gives you a lot of information!
