  1. I am applying for my husband in Kabul, Afghanistan and i recently got my approval from USCIS and they also emailed me about filling out the DS-261/260. They also told me about the visa application fee and the AOS fee. I have a lot of issues, and need lots of help.

    FIRST,

1.)I paid the AOS $88 and it says paid now, but i cannot pay the $230 it's grayed out and does not allow me to. i would like to know why it is like that?

2.) I cannot find the DS-260 anhywhere! I know it is a form online but i cannot find it at all, do i have to wait till i pay the $230 and then it will should up when i log in with my case number and invoice number. And when will it allow me to pay it, it has been about 5 days since i paid the $88 AOS fee.

3.) I also understand i have to fill out the DS-230 and maill it in with some supporting documents, it says to submit original marrigae certificate, I already sent that to the USCIS a couple months ago. I sent the original in English and my native language. So, they will sent it to the NVC right? so i do not have to worry about that? they already have it, i hope? :/ I'm so lost i hope this goes well

4.) It also asks for police certificates, my husband lives in Afghanistan and they do not have police certificates so what do i do? how do i address that to the NVC?

5.) I have a sponsor for my case, so if i have a sponsor do i only have to fill out the AOS form for my sponsor with his 3 years tax forms or do i have to also fill it out the same AOS form myself too with my income,...i think i just have to sent the sponsors financial info but im not sure. if not do i have to fill out one AOS form for him and one for me? or just the sponsor? please answer meeeeee this is like my most important question.

Someone please answer my question i am sooo worried!!!! Thanks so much

Also, i am using my sisters account so i know it says K1 but i am actually cr-1 and in Afghanistan. sorry for any confusion

  2. Dear VJ members,

I originally made this account when I was in the process of bringing my fiancé to the US.

I just had a question about an f4 visa (brother of US citizen).

My mom’s brother had an interview in Islamabad Pakistan 2 years ago (but he lives in Kabul Afghanistan with his family). At the time my mom applied for her brother there was no embassy in Kabul, but now there is.

So currently all my mom’s brothers information is in Islamabad Pakistan.

When he had the interview 2 years ago they took his afghan passport and we check his case status on the visa website and it still says AP. However, there are two others beneath that case (same case

number but one is 01 and the other two are 02 and 03). This is how it looks like (I did not put the case number for privacy reasons):

    Case number Status

    ISL********** 01 ISL Administrative Processing

    ISL********** 02 ISL Ready

    ISL**********03 ISL Ready

The last time it was updated was on January 23, 2013. And my mom applied for her brother in 2000.

My mom’s brother also has a wife and one child. But my mom never applied for them. I was thinking the ready was maybe for them but idk.. please give me your ideas. What do you guys think?

    My questions are:

    1. Why does it say AP for one and ready for the other 2?

    2. He has been in AP for such a long time….2 years now. What should we do? We have been checking status online and calling DOS. My mom even asked our state senator to look into the case too.

  3. Hello VJ members,

I recently checked the status of my husband's I-485 and this is what it says:

On February 20, 2013, your I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was approved. You will be notified of the decision by mail. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case, including when the approval notice is mailed. If you do not receive the approval notice within 30 days, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision.

How long did it take for you guys to receive the decision for those of you who have gone through this process? Also, if we get approved then will we get a letter about when my husband's interview will be?

    Thanks!

  4. I received an RFE on 8/16/12 for the Form I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

I sent back what they needed and they received it on 8/31/12. When I check my status on the USCIS website it says:

On August 31, 2012, we received your response to our request for evidence. This case is being processed at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed, in which case you can use the processing time information on our website to estimate when this case will be done. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Once a timely response to the request for evidence is received by USCIS, we review the evidence or information you submitted. If you submitted the requested evidence, we continue with the adjudication of your application or petition in light of the new evidence.

Can anyone tell me how long it will take to hear a response from them and when my husband will get his work permit and travel care?

Also, how long will it take to get his green card?

    Thanks!

  5. Today I got an RFE from USCIS. This is exactly what is states:

"Form I-184 Affidavit of Support was submitted; however. it was not from the petitioner/sponsor.

Please submit a completed and signed form I-864 for the petitioner/sponsor listed on Form I-130 or Form I-129F. Even if a joint sponsor will be used, the petitioner/sponsor must submit Form I-864."

The person that signed the I-864 was a close family friend of mine and he made enough to sponsor just my husband. Do I have to send a I-864 on behalf of myself and call myself the the joint sponsor?

I don't understand why I got this because when I sent the I-129F and the I-134 Affidavit of Support for the fiance visa I didn't get an RFE saying that the person on the Affidavit of Support was not the same person on the I-129F.

Please someone help me. I am thinking of making an info pass appointment or calling USCIS? HELP!

  6. My mom applied for her brother through an F4 visa in 2001 and he had his interview on January 1, 2011.

He has been waiting for 1 year and 5 months now. I called Department of State and they told me to email the embassy in Islamabad so they can send his case to Kabul Afghanistan since that is where he resides with his family now.

I was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them?

When my mom first applied for her brother their as no US embassy in Afghanistan so that is why we had to send it to Islamabad.

  7. The same thing happened to my husband. He came on a k-1 visa then we got married here in NY. Now we are filing out the AOS package and we are trying to complete the Vaccinations section.

We went to the civil surgeon and he got his blood taken to check for immunity. So the only tests he is required to do are the TB skin tests ($35), tetnus (free), and Meningitis ($142).

Also, the price for the blood work was $185 and the price for the CS to fill out and sign the I-693 form is $140. We are going to do the tests at our county health department office because apparently its less expensive than doing it at the CS's office.

After he gets these tests/shots we have to go back to the CS's office and schedule an appointment so the CS can sign the form.

We are going in tomorrow to do the shots.

  8. I am trying to figure out if I am doing all this correctly can anyone tell me if they went through the same process:

My husband arrived from Pakistan and when he went through Port of entry in New York City (JFK airport) he gave them his medical exam in a sealed envelope(they did not take the CD with his chest x-ray).

We are currently trying to complete the AOS package and he needs to fill out the I-693 just the vaccination section since he did not do his vaccinations in Pakistan. We went to the civil surgeon and they took his blood first to check for immunity. When I called the office a couple days later they told me that he only needs to do these tests since he was immune to the others:

    1.PPD/TB skin test

    2.Tetnus (Tdap) and

    3.Meningitis test

We paid $185 for the blood work and now we must pay $35 for the TB test, and $142 for the meningitis test, the Tdap is free. Oh and we have to pay $140 for the Civil Surgeon to fill out and sign the I-693 form . We are going to our county health department office since my hubby doesn't have insurance. These fees seem way to high, did anyone else pay the same or similar amount for these tests/immunizations??

  9. Hey all!

My fiance will be coming to the US soon and I am trying to book his flight.

He will be leaving from Kabul Afghanistan and has an Afghan passport with a K1 non immigrant fiance visa.

He has a connecting flight to Turkey, I am wondering will he need a transit visa to enter and to leave Turkey? Has anyone heard about this?

I just don't want him to be stuck in Turkey and for them to send him back to Kabul.

    Thanks!
