  1. I've been emailing the consulate every week since we were approved -- I emailed them (for the third time) on Monday with an attached copy of our I797 and said "look, it's been 4 days short of a month since we've been approved. Please send the instruction letter so we can move on with our lives." The next day they emailed me and said they mailed (to me) the instruction letter but also told me we need 2nd medical, solvencia and for him to submit his passport and we'll be all good.

I'm HOPEFUL the issuance will be quick after the meds are submitted.

  2. Husband had interview 3/15 -- we were put in administrative processing because they wanted to review his criminal background but "Didn't have time" due to "the ridiculous amount of people waiting for an interview and the little number of officers" ............... so we were in AP for 3 days. Status on CEAC changed to "refused" on the 19th of March and our waiver was sent out on the 21st. Reached lockbox on the 22nd. We were refused because he was here without papers for over a year -- which, I knew was going to happen.

Now we wait for the waiver...

  3. El Salvador's US embassy seems to have the SLOWEST visa issuance time of them all. I am petitioning that the Ombudsman and the Inspector General investigate this matter and come up with a solution to get them on normal processing time. Also, I've heard horror stories of people being mistreated, wrong case files being pulled, etc etc. Thankfully, we got through kind of unscathed but we were in AP for 3 days time so they could "Review the paperwork."

Anyway, all personal stories GREATLY increase chances of the investigation happening. I have over 100 signatures but need up to 500 before I send it. Any story shared will be cleaned up and submitted as having an "anonymous" author, so your name will not be attached.

    Thank you in advance!!!!!!

  4. No I don't have tattoos or any criminal or crime records, nothing.I guess is because is a stepson petition, or something like that, who knows

Did they say how long it would be? Were you missing documents? I don't understand why our embassy has to be so screwed up. I have known maybe ONE person who has gotten out of there without any problems. EVERYONE ELSE (this is like 10+ people) has had missing documents, been accused of being someone else [ie; wrong folder in interviewers hands], accused of having a drinking problem and issued a subsequent 1 year ban, etc etc...... IDGI.

  5. Sorry to heard that ullnvrkno, I hope everything goes quick and easy on your case, I had my interview also in El Salvador on Tuesday, we had almost the same timeline, I was not approved neither because I was told that my case is going to be under administrative process.

So I guess we have to wait a little more, best of the luck.

WTS why did they put you on AP??? Do you have tattoos or a drinking problem? I know they are STRICT about alcohol...

  6. I got my tax info from Sallie Mae (for undergrad loans) so now I'm just waiting on my work tax returns which should be here any day. In the meantime though we're waiting on the medical/psych results. My husband met with the psych yesterday, explained everything behind the a&b charge. I'm positive my husband's name will be cleared and hopefully this only will strengthen our waiver to show that he ISN'T a bad person and the "crime" he was charged with was a mountain out of a mole hill. Unfortunately the psych has a ####### ton of cases but he said he'd work on getting ours out quick. It could take up to 10 days... we'll see. I'm hopeful for another mid-Feb interview and now I know what we're "missing" we're more prepared than ever and should get the go-ahead to file the i-601 based on accrued illegal presence and nothing more.

And thank you all for your well wishes and support!

  7. He has to reschedule. He booked his medical appointment 3 weeks out as per Embassy rules and the doctor referred him to the psych due to a past crime. The first available psych appt. is today (same day as his interview, obviously). The embassy wants him to reschedule his visa interview once they have the results. Plus, they asked for my 2012 taxes although I haven't filed yet, I sent a recent (As of 10/31) paystub to him to bring AND my employer wrote and signed a letter stating my wages and my hours worked. But they still want my taxes. #######.

Anyway, I had prepared myself as best I could to accept that we wouldn't be able to file the 601 waiver until February. We are 10 days short of having been apart for 19 months now, and yet we still have another 3-7 months to go. This never gets easier.

  8. Congratulations !

Now that you have an interview date, you can EMAIL the IV unit and ask for an earlier date.

If they can accomodate you, they will.

No need to say the reason, just ask for earlier date.

Nah. We'll just go on and wait patiently for it to come. We've been apart 17 months and 6 days now... what's another 4-5 months of waiting?

The Interview Threads were started around the time my group was waiting on interviews. At that time (around September) the NVC seemed to be on an indefinite HOLD and there were a lot of people waiting. I put up the first spread sheet...and a fire seemed to break out. Once the interviews started being issued, the forum exploded and it was so exciting seeing so many getting their dates at one time, that we have just continued to do it. But if you'll notice.....when the questions come up about NVC, I refer them back to Saylin's instruction page....I, keep up with you after the case complete! (Well, that is unless I'm out for my own interview. :D) Point is...none of us could have got through NVC without her thread!

Well shoot -- thanks for starting them!!! They've been both a blessing a curse.

    And poutine!

    And pupusas!!

  9. I don't understand why you said not to try at all.

It may work for others. Did it work AGAINST you?

Because if it didn't, there's no harm in trying.

Just sharing my experience. Based on it, it seems only truly life/death emergencies are important enough to warrant an interview expedite. But by all means, try away!

AHHHHH! Omg, I'm so happy you finally got your date!!!! GRATS!!!   Less than 2 months till your interview! You're getting closer and closer every day!

I'm surprised you didn't see my post in the NVC January Interview thread!!! I guess you don't hang out there much, huh? :) I was shocked to see it, too!!!!

  10. We got case complete on Monday and our interview date was emailed to us yesterday. Wow! Did not expect that so quick. The interview is scheduled for January 14th. There is another VJer from Norway who got their case complete a week and a half before ours and has the same interview date. Seems like they were waiting to schedule interviews until they had enough people. Is that something they would do?

    Oh my gosh! Congrats!!!!!
