    Total income, not total gross (sorry)If his schedule C shows loss from a business, but his total income is above what is needed you won't have a problem.

    I was only short 2k from meeting the poverty level guideline, and had to get a joint sponsor.

    Sorry it took so long to get back to you!

    They will look at his total income on line 22 on his 1040, NOT the adjusted gross, to determine his ability to meet the poverty guidline. The Schedule C is only needed to prove his income. (like how others need their 1099s or W2s) Unfortunately if he is showing a negative on his total gross income, he will need a joint sponsor.

    Same issue Simon had, I came out of the Army as an EMT-B had to take two years of school to become a paramedic, and none of it transferred into enough college credits for Nursing school to make a difference.

    After I was hurt is when I changed to pharm-tech. Enough transferred that I will have an associates degree instead of a 'certificate'
