  1. I'm really curious how this turned out for you! My husband and I also came across the same problem: household of 2 (i filled out the forms correctly) but I didn't make enough in money (or so the RFE said)... I was a student, just graduated last December. I had a part-time job where I was making around $14k/yr for the past 4 years while in school. I had letters stating that I'd make ~ $28,800 this year & was under a contract, gave bank information, months worth of check stubs, all sorts of evidence! I got so frustrated and called the hotline and was told "Well, you either need a cosponsor, or a lawyer." I ended up begging my dad to cosponsor my husband so we could just get this all over with! I got lucky that he made enough money & was willing to help!

I hope everything works out! Good luck!

  2. waiting waiting waiting....

unfortunately hubby and I havent really paid attention to dates to be able to fill out our timeline. we had ~3 RFE's? For stupid #######! He's going to go sifting through paperwork today so we can update everything on here though :)

We'd really like to go ahead and get his GC though!! So we could stop having this constantly on our minds! :P

This was the last update we got, for sure: On October 12, 2012, we received your response to our request for evidence. This case is being processed at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location

  3. Had biometrics... got an RFE to send in more forms (for me.. more tax info from previous year) and to have a joint sponsor, even though I make enough NOW and had proof... anyways. Got all the info for my dad, sent it in.. we just got another text about ANOTHER rfe. I checked over everything multiple times... we weren't missing anything so I have no idea what this is about now. Hubby is going stir crazy stuck at home not being able to work.

  4. Hi guys,

We were recently impacted by Hurricane Isaac and lost a lot of our food due to power outages for 5 days. We just applied for Marco to adjust status and got an RFE a few weeks ago- I was curious if we could apply for emergency disaster food stamps like everyone else and be OK? I dont want to have to pay anything back, or have this become a problem, but the extra food money is definitely needed right now... I've been out of work for 6 days and we are going to be hurting financially for a while.

I've read some other topics but I'm sorry guys, we are just pretty tired from everything and trying to translate what the government site says is hurting my brain right now. If anyone knows for sure could you please let us know?

    Thanks!

  5. Sorry you are experiencing all of this, did you go to the appointment anyway? It maybe could have worked still. Maybe you need to get a co-sponsor just to make sure things go smoothly. Anyways, Good Luck with everything.

Well, we didn't get our mail until after the appointment had already passed. We called the USCIS and they said that this is really typical, so we just need to mail the form back asking that we get scheduled a new date since we got our letter too late. Pretty easy i think :)

Yeah i'm thinking we'll get a cosponsor, sucks that I have to bother my mom to do this ####### though, when I should be able to do it myself. :( When we called USCIS they asked if we wanted to ask about our RFE and we did, all they did was read a dang script to us about what an RFE is and finally after about 10 minutes, told me that they can't help us. Why is the government so frustrating?

  6. just lovely.... got the biometrics letter in the mail at 4pm on August 23rd. Guess when the appointment was? August 23rd at 1pm!! This sucks.

Also found out we have an RFE because I do not meet 125% of the poverty line- well duh, i was a full time student last year. That's why I included letters from my two jobs to prove that this year I'll make well above 125% (and i know this has worked numerous times for friends of mine)

    gahhhhhh bad day!

  7. okay! wanted to give you guys an update:

hubby called the USCIS Friday. We moved before we filed AOS, but after the whole K-1 deal. Our current address is extremely temporary, which is why I didn't want to reroute or do a change of address to this address. My husband had a different idea however, and submitted a change of address request. Evidently they only got it for one of the forms, not for the other two. The lady on the phone with USCIS submitted another change of address and put in a support request or whatever on our case. He forgot to ask about the one that came to our apartment which the USCIS says didnt- so, we called back on Saturday. The guy put in another 'request' and said he changed the address for us. We're supposed to wait 15 days to see if we receive the letters now. It's all so confusing since no one at USCIS can see what anyone else does!!

Anyways, late Saturday night we got an email saying we have an RFE. Curious what it is

Thank you for the responses :) I'm not sure how we're supposed to put any bills in his name right now, but we will look into it. The lease is cosigned by him though, I'm the main party.

  8. Hey guys,

We received our NOA1's in the mail Tuesday (for EAD and AP). I have been waiting on the biometrics letter, but after seeing other timelines, I noticed it can take a little bit of time for that letter to come in. Today, I was just curious to see what our status was now- I was a bit shocked to see this:

On August 15, 2012, the post office returned the notice we last sent you on this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS as undeliverable. This may have serious effects on processing this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your mailing address for this notice to be re-sent.

On August 15, 2012, the post office returned the notice we last sent you on this case I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION as undeliverable. This may have serious effects on processing this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your mailing address for this notice to be re-sent.

On July 30, 2012, we received this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case.

I am pretty confused? We've already received NOA's in the mail.. which is what I assume they were sending us? Should we try calling that number above to see what's going on?

I've never had any real issues before, and I've combed through other threads quickly without spotting any real solutions. We would appreciate any help yall can offer!!

  9. Most people will tell you on here "OMG DO NOT SET YOUR WEDDING DATE YET!!" and hey, i do understand why they say it... but i personally set my wedding date when i found out we were engaged... like most 'ordinary' couples do. We got engaged in mid-July, set our date almost instantly for May 19th, made sure we had an opt-out/change date clause with ALL of our people (venue, food, photographer, DJ, etc.) and applied for K-1 in the beginning of August. We had one bump along the way but we still managed to get him here over a month before the wedding.

What they told you is just basically standard- if you want to set your wedding date right now, go ahead. just be prepared for a plan B if something were to happen :)

Oh and the interviewer did ask and my husband said "Yes, our date is May 19th" and had no issues

  10. No job, yet!

I wish I had one. Getting sick of applying and not hearing anything back. :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

I know this feeling myself- I graduated college in December and it took until late March to find a job! And I'm working as a temp (but in a permanent position thank goodness) Good luck, Marco will start job searching as soon as he gets his dang work permit. I don't hold out much hope that he'll get a job quickly :(

@KimberlyAhmed - good luck to you guys! :) more waiting games begin now lol.

  11. I'm so sorry to hear you guys have been having so many issues! :(

@Kimberly - I completely agree with you- it's way more enjoyable and less stressful to wait while they're HERE with you :) feels good to say haha. I'm sure we will get an RFE for the AOS but at least it's finally turned in.

Good luck CADreamer.... I wish you guys well, keep us updated on your progress! :) I promise to be more faithful to VJ from now on. lol
