  1. well i asked the officer at the passport control what was it and he said if i was deported when i was 7 yrs old and i said no. i was legal in US and had no history of deportation. This is the 2nd time i get stopped and asked and i want to know who can help clearing that record or finding out what really comes up.

You're not giving a lot of details (and perhaps you don't want to, and that's fine), but maybe there's nothing on your "record" and your name simply matches the name of someone they're looking for and they want to clear that up before letting you go?
It could be a million things... you could try asking CBP directly but I doubt they'll tell you anything useful.

  2. Hi All,

Maybe someone can help me out here. I became a US Citizen about a year ago and everytime i travel abroad and come back to the US and have to pass through the passport control i get stopped and get asked all these certain of questions that i dont know what they are talking about and even sent me to the room for nothing.

Where can i go to see or call to check what show up in my record. Its such a pain to pass through the passport control at the airport and get stopped.

please help me. I want to get it fixed or see how i can fix it. I have a feeling its all wrong information

  3. Hey Guys,

not sure if this is a good place to ask this and share my experience but please advise if you know the answer.

I recently came back to the US from a vacation from Canada. I am now a US Citizen. While passing over the passport control with my US Passport i was sent to the room for questioning. The officer asked me if i was ever deported and my answer was no because i have never been deported but she stated it was showing in my records. I just dont understand how they can show up in my records.

is there a way to see my records... when i was going through the N400 process, it never came up nor the IO mention anything about deportation, i would imagine they would be more concern to bring that up than an officer from an airport passport control

  4. Your fault, USCIS fault, doesn't make any difference, we still pay the price. All you can do now is wait those 30 days, if nothing, contact your senators office for help.

Ironically, many here on this board received their certificate without ever seeing their ten year cards. Wife just received hers days before her interview because the wait was longer back then. Only to have to give it back.

    One could thing about these delays, does make getting your certificate more joyful;

How much time did they give you on your I-551 stamp, some are very optimistic that their USCIS is very efficient and only give you a couple of weeks. Then you have to go back and get another one.

i have my 1st stamp for one year but it expires next month. I made an info path appt to see whats going on. Going next week. The last thing i need is to go out of status. Thank you for ur advise.

  5. I went in for my interview on January 14th. Everything went well and they said they were recommending me for citizenship. on January 21st, my status was updated on the USCIS website and said I had been placed in a queue for the oath ceremony. Since then, I have not heard anything. Is it normal to wait this long? I tried calling the National Customer Service Center, but had little success. They said my receipt number was too short and I was not able to get through to a person.

My question is, is it still to early to freak out? I am getting a little impatient. I just want to be a citizen already. :)

I would make an info path appointment. That is what i am doing. I am still waiting also and passed the test.

  6. Hello All,

I want to share my experience today at my N-400 interview. My interview was at 7:30AM. Went in at 8:30AM. I swear to tell the truth and sat down. The IO started going over my application and asked me for my passport and my GC. I still have my condotional card because i never received my permanent one. i had my I-751 interview last year in Nov and never received the card. In Jan i received my N-400 interview notification.

Now i am bit down because on today's interview the OI told me that when i had my I-751 interview with my husband, that IO did not change my status nor closed the case so it was still pending. I believe this is an USCIS mistake. I passed the test and gave me a notice that i had passed the test but checked the check box where it said " A decision cannot be made at this time". The IO told me she was going to talk to the previous IO to close my I751. Then she told me to wait outside and after waiting for 10 mins, she came and told me to just got home and i should receive a decision on the mail within a month.

Since i never received my perm card, i still got a stamp on my passport. I am traveling to Europe in May for vacation. What do i do? Info path appt? I am lost here. I have passed all interview but still waiting... please advise!

  7. Hi Guys,

maybe you can help me here. I had my i-751 interview on 11/22.I got the verbal approval from the IO. We are now in January and i havent not received any letters nor the my case has been updated online. What should i do? I also submitted back in August my N-400 application and have not heard about that either. I called a week ago the USCIS and they told me they would submit a services request and spoke to a tier 2 agent.

what should i do? how long should i wait to get my permanent resident card?

  8. Hello All,

i wanted to share my interview experience today Nov 21st 2012 to remove my condition on my GC.

My husband and I arrive at 10:20AM and our interview was schedule for 11:00AM. We waited for about an hour before we got called. Once we got called from the IO, she made us swear and interview started. She basically wanted to verify address and W2s, taxes, jointly, i provided her the new lease of our place, bank account, insurance. She stated that was more than enough.

I have already applied for my n-400 in august and she was going to do the citizen ship test right there but then she said my file was all digital ( new process) and she need to approve that. My condition was removed and she told me to expect my new GC but laughing she said you are gonna return it becuase in a couple of weeks u should come back for your citizenship test.

It was easy and calm, the IO was very nice and funny.

Now i wonder how long does it take for me to get my GC, she said i will get it very soon but didnt give me a time frame? anyone knows?

  9. Hi Guys,

Today i got a yellow notice from USCIS about documents i need to bring for my interview for the N-400. One of the items selected was to bring my last 3 years of tax returns. Here is my question. This year (2012) my husband and I had to fill separate income tax because they would not give me financial aid at the school if i submitted joint tax returns. Reason why we did that. Now i am concern to show that when my interview comes. We have joint tax returns from 2008 to 2011. I will be honest to the IO about the situation and show them i am going to school. Any suggestion on what should i do???

By the way.. my i751 its still pending and i have my interview with my husband in 3 weeks for that one. We are going to bring all documents and explain to IO the situation.

  10. I am assuming this is a QA control interview because i never got any letters requesting more evidences or whatnot. It was just a delayed so i went ahead and applied for my N-400 and it was there when i got the letter for i751 interview two weeks after i did my finger prints for the N-400

If it's a random QA control pick then nothing to worry. It's not going to be one of those grill and chop, stokes interview.

Just be there and relax. It will be over before you know it.

    Good luck!

  11. Hello All,

Today OCT 17th i received a letter from USCIS for an interview schedule next month. Its very nerve-wracking just the thought of it but i now i know i have to go with my husband. What should i be expecting? i called and it seems my case was randomly picked for an interview. I have been waiting for this since March 2011. In August i applied for my N-400 since i was already eligible.

What are the changes i will get both i-751 and N-400 interviews at the same time? i already did biometrics for my n-400.

    Here is my info:

March 2011 received the receipt for submitting the i751

    August 2012 submitted N-400

Oct 2012 completed my N-400 Biometrics

Oct 2012 received interview letter for i-751

I am so nervous for the interview and the additional evidences i need to take. I am planning on taking same evidence plus new statements of bank accounts/lease/insurance.

  12. Thank you for responding.. this makes me feel better!

You did the right thing. In order for your N-400 to be processed, your I-751 has to be decided and since you were eligible to file for N-400 and did so, USCIS will be forced to adjudicate your I-751 along with your N-400 application. Whatever was holding your ROC application will have to be addressed by USCIS during your N-400 process. Good Luck!

  13. Hello All,

I sent the N-400 form today August 21st 2012 to the Dallas office. Its been a year and a half that i have been waiting to get my i-751 approved. What can happen if the i-751 has not been process yet? Will the i-751 be pushed and just process the n-400?

I sent all documentations asked for the n-400 plus added all the service request letters i have submitted and also pictures and prove of my marriage.

Please advise on what should i be expecting???

    thank you!

  14. i am going to have to do that. For your n-400 interview, did you got by urself? what were the questions??

First thing first, if you have NOT obtained an i551 extension, do it now or you might be in trouble.

Then get hold of your congressman.

Yes you can apply for N-400 while your ROC is still pending. I'm in the same situation and I already passed my N400 interview, awaiting my oath letter.

You gotta push them rather than let them push you around.

  15. Hi guys!

I need your help and advise!! It's been a year and a half that I submitted my i751 to get my permanent green card and still nothing. I have called the Uscis for updates and still tell me the same thing that us under review. What do I do?? Should I go to my congressman and seek help?? What good do I have by doing that?? Or should I just send my n400 to become a citizen event high my i751 has not been approved yet??

    Please help me!!!

  16. I am in the same situation waiting over a year on a decision from USCIS. I called about a month ago and told me they were looking into my application. I sent this over on March 14th 2011. Where do i find or how do i contact my congress person. I am in Miami, FL.

    Please advise

We were in the same situation as you.

    Applied for ROC

    Received RFE

Received letter for an interview. We waited for about 2 months then we contacted our congresswoman to help ask for more info from USCIS. Then we received a txt and email saying that they ordered the greencard.

  17. thank you all for your advise and comments. I will start working on my N-400 package. I hope my i751 gets approved as soon as they get my N-400 application.

Question: for N-400 interview , does my husband has to go with me or that is just me???

Agreed. If you intended on applying for naturalization anyway, then you may as well go ahead and do it to try and fix this mess.

Be sure to include this information when you apply.

  18. I am ready to apply for the N-400 but i am affraid they might rejected and lose the money. What is the case if i have not yet been approved to my i751 and send my N-400? Does the n-400 goes on hold? What happens when the i751 gets approved and i have already file the n-400?

    please advise!

Submit your N400 if you wish to become a Naturalized Citizen. It will force them to process your 751.
