  1. Thanks, RK. I thank God that you can see His hand in all the chaos, bringing order in its wake. Blessings to you and your families as well as everyone's marriage on here. If anyone would like to be a virtual attendee to our wedding, you can see it here:

Congratulations to all. Just an update, my wife just did her biometrics last Wednesday March 21, 2011.

Hoping for her card to follow soon.

  2. As I understand it, AOS can be filed as soon as you have everything you need to send in with the paperwork. See the AOS guides for a detailed explanation of the required supporting documentation. However, if your question is more about how much time you have before you absolutely have to file then I've heard that while it should be done as soon as possible you can wait for a brief period if necessary to file. However, I wouldn't wait too long to file since this might raise some red flags.

Thanks Ray_J. We finally filed for our AOS last Feb. 10, 2012. USCIS received it Feb 14 and send the notice on the 17. We file the I485 together with her EAD. We already received the notice for her biometrics which was scheduled on the 21st of March. So far things are running smoothly. Waiting for the day... :)

  3. Kendora--You are welcome. Yes, the waiting for documents is hard. Hope the Brunei document is not unreasonably long in coming. I am glad to hear your fiancee is doing the medical! This is certainly a big step forward (and each step in this visa journey certainly counts!). I hope that your fiancee soon has good news to share with you in regards to the medical!!

She just finish her medical exam today Oct 26, 2011. She passed. She got her cd of her xray and vaccination records which she will bring with her to US. Now her medical exam record will be pending at the embassy until scheduled for visa interview. Hope Brunie would cooperate, and process the police certificate faster. Im so eager to spend my thanksgiving with my fiancee.

  4. About securing Brunei police certicate question, here is link to VJ thread which looks may contain answer to your question:

Re: Brunei dollars, I have personally used the following company numerous times for various currencies:

    http://www.ezforex.com/

I see they offer Brunei Dollars. I have not obtained Brunei dollars from this company but have always been satisfied with their service.

I hope someone with some more definitive answers will be able to additionally help you; and, of course, wishing you the best of luck with this and everything through this whole process!

Thanks for the reply RK and Inday. Its frustrating to know the police certificate of my fiancee is not ready yet after a months wait. This keeps us from scheduling her interview at the USembassy. Now she is undergoing medical interview at St Lukes medical center, hopefully everything is fine.

  5. My fiancee finally got her letter from USEMBASSY manila stating that she can schedule her interview. But the sad thing is that we still have to wait for her police certificate from brunie. And to think she cannot apply for the certificate not unless the letter from US embassy arrive since it is part of the requirement. Such a hassle. But anyway , we can now start the police certificate application hoping that we dont have to wait longer. I really am excited to bring her to US with me when I leave in Oct 7, hope things will work out fine.

  6. @Kendora:

P.S. Also be sure to go over this very excellent thread for things to do after NOA2 receipt (aspecially post by Paul & Tonieta):

    --RK and Inday

Thank you RK and Inday. I found Paula and Tonieta's post very informative and useful. Right now, my fiancee is on the process of securing her Police Certificate for Brunei. Since she has worked there for 2 yrs. It took a while before we got hold of a representative from Brunei embassy. Only to find out she cannot mail the required documents and the application has to be paid in peso not in Brunei dollars as what the website says.http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9007.

    Police Records

Police certificates can be obtained in Brunei within approximately two weeks. When requesting a police clearance certificate, an applicant must submit the following:

    Photocopy of his/her current passport.

Photocopy of his/her Brunei identity card, if available.

Evidence of the duration of the applicant's residency in Brunei.

    Fee of fifty Brunei dollars.

The above items should be sent to:

    The Commissioner

    Royal Brunei Police Force

    Gadong Headquarters

    Bandar Seri Begawan

Attn: Awg Mohammad Abdullah - Translator

If the applicant lives outside of Brunei, a request for a police certificate, along with the required passport and identity card photocopies, may be sent to the Embassy by courier service.

Brunei criminal records are permanently stored in the police computer archives. The records are indexed by family name and identity card numbers.

We ask her aunt to apply for the certificate in her behalf since it is acceptable.

Waiting for the certificate so we can proceed with the visa payment and medical exam.

  7. Kendora--In regards to what to do after receiving NOA2, here is an astoundingly excellent and comprehensive thread:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/318248-things-to-do-upon-getting-noa2-philippines

Note all in thread, especially post by Paul & Tonieta which ties it all together nicely. We ourselves don't have NOA2 yet either but the info in above thread is helping us prepare much now in anticipation of NOA2.

    --RK and Inday

    Thanks RK and Inday.

We finally got hold of our NOA2 last July 29, 2011. And papers is forwarded to NVC. We havent called NVC yet if they received our application.

Congrats Cyclone!!! Mine got shipped off the same as you..........Today! Good Luck!!!!:thumbs: We on our way to Manila!

Congratulations!! Hope our application will follow next

  8. Does anyone one how to secure police certificate from Brunie. I have checked the website. My question is do they need a request from USEMBASSY that my fiancee needs the certificate? And also they require brunie dollars, how can acquire that since some money changers don't sell Brunei dollar.

I need answers, our papers is already being forward from USCIS to NVC.

  9. I waited 33 days before NVC had my file. It sat at CSC forever. It took NVC requesting the file before they sent it. August 18th will be your 15th business day. If NVC doesn't have your case file by then, scan it (preferably .pdf format) and send it to NVCResearch@state.gov. Be sure to put your USCIS receipt number in the subject line. They will check throughout the NVC for the file. If it's not there, they'll send a request to USCIS. After you have your MNL number, go to any BPI branch and pay your visa fee.

If you're still there at the time of her interview, you can go with your fiancee. USEM allows for this. In my mind, this is the smart thing to do since it shows conclusive proof of an on-going relationship. It's what I plan on doing with Amy. :)

I havent got a hold of our NOA2 yet, Just curious what is the usual instruction stated inside the notice. I will take your advice Ray, I will checked our approved I-129F at NVC after 2 weeks. Hopefully they have it by then. I have a question, when is the best time to secure police certificate? My fiancee have worked and stayed in Brunie for 2 years. As a requirement, she needs to secure the police certificate from Brunie. It is advisable to secure it while the application is still at NVC or when the papers in USEMBASSY.

  10. We mailed the divorce decree as requested by RFE they send to us last July 13. We received the email notice informing that our I-129F application is approved and that they mail the NOA2 July 28, 2011. But here we are again, got to ask my sister to get hold of the NOA2 hard copy since Im with my fiancee in Philippines right now.Glad to know things are getting in progress.
