  1. Hi guys!

My mother had her interview today in Kiev Ukraine, her visa was approved!!!!

    We are very happy!

Just a quick question. How long does it usually take to get her passport with visa delivered by FedEx?

She lives in Kiev. I booked plane ticket for her on the 30th of October (Sunday after next).

I know, It wasn't smart thing to do beforehand, but we are really looking forward to see her here in America!

I haven't seen her almost a year and a half.

    I will appreciate your thoughts!

  2. My wife's uncle arrived yesterday. He is hearing impaired and does not speak any English. I sent him copies of the I-94 with his part filled in and the customs form also filled in so that all he had to do was copy the info onto the proper forms. Also sent a card with the usual info about his flights and my phone number. I called Delta twice and arranged to have some one meet him and take him through immigration and to his next gate. Unfortunately no one met him, but somehow he was able to get help and get to his next gate in Atlanta.

Thank you! I like that idea, I just printed out those forms and I am going to fill them out for her, also I will get ready multiple cards. It is direct flight, hopefully she will be OK!!!

I have heard of people buying trace-phones and sending them so when they arrive they can call your house if there is a problem or delay, or if they need translation.

No doubt JFK has lots of russian speakers but someone coming into atlanta might be in a different situation.

    Thank you for encouragement!!!!

  3. My Mother might get her immigrant visa very shortly and has to make a trip to US from Ukraine by herself.

She doesn't speak or understand any English. I am going to book for her direct flight Kiev-NewYork and give her some cards in English with translation.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to go to Ukraine to bring her here due to work.

I am a little bit concern if she is able to go through customs without knowing any English.

I would appreciate, if anybody here could share with me similar experience.

How hard was for elderly parents to go through it?

    Thank you!

  4. I just had all this process done for my Mother. Yes, you do need to send originals of all documents or certified copies. Certified copies - when certified translator translates, plus notary has to notarize them, then you have to go to ukrainian officials to put apostle on copies of your documents to prove that they are real. It is usually takes time and money. I personally, sent all originals that they are suppose to return in Embassy during her interview. In case, they lose something, it is not difficult to obtain dublicate - cheap and fast.

In terms of DS-230, you have to fill electronic version and print it out. Beneficiary has to sign the first part and then during interview she will sign the second part of the form in presence of officer. I hope it helps!

  9. Hi everybody!

I need some advice. I am a US citizen applying for my Mother. My case is still in NVC. I hoped it would be closed soon, instead I got response today from the operator that my IV package was reviewed and they thought that death certificate of my father wasn't original. I asked to connect me to supervisor and explained that all documents that I put in that package was originals, including death certificate of my father, plus I put copies for each with translation. He told me that it would take 10-15 business days to close review my package again.

Does anybody have similar experience here? Shall I ask my Mother to order dublicate in case they lost the first one?

  12. The same happened to me!

You can see my visa journey below. It took for them 10 days to send me some instructions. I tried a loooot..... Unfortunately, nothing you can do about it, just be patient and wait.

Waiting for DS-230 to be accepted :bonk:

  13. When the case is finished at NVC it will take (usually) 2-3 weeks for it to be entered into Kiev's system. At that point you call the call center and make an appointment. The lead times for appoitnments vary. When we went it was 2 months, when our son went it was 3 days, recent people interviewing are reporting that they get an interview in 3 weeks to 1 month. The consulate website has a schedule showing current lead times.

Thank you so much for the fast response!

I think NVC will schedule an interview for my Mother, since it is an immigrant visa.

Back in 2007, when I was scheduling my interview for K1 visa, I had to wait almost 2 months for my interview. I thought things might change since.

I was on Kiev Embassy web site, but I didn't see any info about schedule current lead times. If you know where it is, could you, please, send me a link? Any help would be appreciated!!!!

  14. You have given me the greatest information about how to coduct an oath ceremony early. Thank you so much for that.

Is there anything else I should know related to interview questions or documents to carry with?

In terms of the test, it was 5 minutes deal. I remember, officer gave me 3 questions from that book/CD and one sentence to write in English, one sentence to read, that was it.

It terms of documents, I don't remember, but I think, they give you list of documents that you have to bring for the test in that notice (notice, green card etc.)

Don't worry, it is not that bad as it sounds!

    Best of luck!

  15. I am very glad to help, since I know how painful waiting is....

In terms of Oath ceremony: when I had my citizenship test on March 7th, the officer asked me at the end of the test when I would like to have my oath ceremony. I said:"as soon as possible", and I got the date March 9th.

For some people they are sending invitation by mail later.

I have two more friends who had their test at the same office for citizenship and they were asked about date they would like to come for oath by the end of the test. So, you shouldn't wait long after you pass your test.

    Good luck again!

  16. Hi everybody!

I am trying to bring my Mother to America, applied twice for visitor's visa was denied, had to wait till became a citizen.

My case is still in NVC, but I am just wondering, if anybody knows how long does it usually take to wait for the interviw in Ukrainian Embassy once it is scheduled? Any help would be appreciated. :D

I have a question for you.

Can I use the same cover sheet that I used for my AOS for DS-230?

Instead Attn.CMR AOS shall I typ Attn. CMR

I paid for my DS-230 on Friday, my payment is already taken, but it is still says in process.

Probably, tomorrow it will say paid. I would like to mail all my DS-230 papers today, but I am not sure if I can do that.

Thank you for your replies beforehand!
