  1. I couldn't find a self-sponsoring information on London consulate website, but there's useful information on Tokyo's.

but I'm not sure if the criteria of London's is same as Tokyo's. I hope it helps you.

I'm not sure if my fiancé will be able to meet this requirement but I have property in the UK which gets us over $1,300 per month in rent. Is there any way that we can include that seeing as I don't need to work to be able to pay for myself to live in the US? This would solve a lot of problems for us...

The reason I ask is that there is a question in the Affidavit of Support saying "Would you like to include any assets belonging to the beneficiary (uncommon)".

If the question is there then surely it must be possible?

  2. I filed with CSC and my biometrics letter says NBC as my service center.

Akihon, will you share me which address (CSC or VSC) is on your biometric envelope?

I'm curious because your timeline is almost same as me.

Mine is filed to CSC and NOA1 was from CSC. but NOA2(bio) was mailed from VSC (envelope address and postmark).

The service center name on the biometric letter is NBC too.

Abd i have one more questio. Im looking in the envelops i sent my paperworks to Laguna Niguel, ca but my bio was send from St. Albans,VA is that mean that they send my file to VA ? Anyone have the same ?
    Thanks

As Avokado said, I'm in the same circumstance.

I filed to California Service Center (Notice on 7/22), and the biometrics letter was from Vermont Service Center (Notice on 8/2).

the letter is postmarked on 8/7 and delivered on 8/11.

It seems it was not a processing delay but took a time for transferring between the centers?

  5. I am still waiting for the biometrics letter (NOA 7/22). It's gotten to the point where if I don't check the mail, I anxiously ask the husband if there was anything. What is going on?

Same to me (NOA 7/22, CSC)

I'm in LA area, so if they sent something it'll be delivered in a day or two.

    Still nothing in my mailbox.

I have to have a hair cut appointment just before the photo shoot for 10 years GC :P

  6. @Happy Chic- I am sorry. I didn't mean to sound rude, or be short in my reply. I sure appreciate your suggestions.

I also read that Tax Transcripts could be beneficial since they show the taxes have been filed. Just sharing.

If the vision insurance cards just showing a current coverage status, you may ask the insurance provider to issue a verification letter that states since when you joined.

  7. Will somebody please add me (I'm on phone due to home internet down.)

    California service center

    7/21 packet sent out

7/22 packet delivered at 11 am

7/22 case opened (NOA date) at 18 pm

    7/24 check cashed

    7/25 NOA letter received

Their processing is faster than AOS time.

My husband heard a radio news that all overseas visa process has stopped now because of their database glitch.

So he guesses that domestic cases might be processed faster than usual.

  8. be careful. the international taxation is super complicated, specially if your native country has a tax-treaty between US :(

you should check whether your tax-home is in the US or your home country before the filing.

There are 2 types of test which determine of your US residency, "Green Card Test" and "Substantial Presence Test".

if you are non US resident in taxation sense. you don't need to file tax return but you may be supposed to do it to your country.

  9. I've been using my Jailbroken GMS iPhone 3GS with Straight Talk (Unlimited everything for $45/m) for about 2 years.
for a cheap unlimited prepaid plan, I have no complain with that (using AT&T 3G network. basically same service as NET10)
    http://www.straighttalk.com/

Recentry my husband gave me his old CDMA iPhone 4.
My monthly data traffic is about 300 to 500MB. so I am looking for more cheaper Verizon compatible CDMA BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) plan.
I am thinking to switch to Page Plus. free activation + plan starts at $12/m.
    http://pagepluspros.com/

Republic Wireless's $25 plan also sounds really sweet.

but their website is too ambiguous to understand.

    is that CDMA BYOD right?

  10. Will this make it easier for my future spouse to be added as a joint account holder on my credit card rather than merely an authorized user?

    probably not.

the law change is just for lifting the restriction. to adopt household income or not is still up to lenders.

since joint is a mutual responsibility for debts, it may require either of fair credit or personal income to guarantee your credit line.

it's safer to be a joint after he/she built credit with a secured card.

  11. Since the Credit Act of 2009 went into effect, it was really hard for newcomers who doesn't have a job in the US to start making a credit history.
Under the law, the lender only considered the applicant's individual income (even for a secured or joint credit account.)
Now the restriction was lifted. you can add up your household income to satisfy the income requirement.

    * Make sure that your lender already adjusted to the new regulation before you apply a new credit card.

  12. Ok guys, I know this has been discussed before, but most of the threads are at least a couple of months old, and with the ever-changing financial world, I figured I'd start a new discussion.

I came to the States 10 months ago, and I would like to build up my credit history. My husband and I have been having joint checking and savings accounts for 7 months now, and I am an authorized user on his credit card (since July I believe). Asked a car dealer how much they would charge for a car loan (not that I need it, just to build up credit) and was told that the interest rate would be 25 percent ohmy.png So no thank you, I'll pay in cash. I have been working for 4 months in a well-paying job.

I tried to figure out my current credit score just right now via creditkarma.com, but unfortunately they say they cannot verify my information - so I assume I do not have a credit score yet and the authorized user deal for the credit card does not work. So, my question to all of you is - how can I build up credit? I know I could apply for a secured credit card - which ones would you recommend (is the Capital One Secured MasterCard any good?)? Wouldn't it hurt my credit score to get a secured card because lenders would see that it is a secured one and thus assume that I do not have a good credit score? Any other ways to build up credit without ridiculously high interest rates?

    Thank you!

I tried to join Credit Sesame (similar service to Credit Karma) and the attempt failed.

The customer service told me that you need at least: (1) SSN that is more than 1 year old, and (2) having 2 active lines of credit for more than 6 months, to simulate your score.

usually an authorised user is not reported to the credit bureaus. so you need to start with a joint credit card or a secured card.

bank issued secured card is cheaper with annual fee and less risky to get a denial based on your baking history.

they will grant you to graduate to non-secured card (with no annual fee) in a year or two. so you can keep the first little card for keeps.

  13. Hey ... to whom you ask for the copy of the DS-3025?

    Thnaks.

the hospital which performed your medical exam.

(in my case, my hospital kindly offered to me to send a new copy for free)

however a copy is a copy. USCIS don't regard a copy as an evidence.

the point they care about is if it's sealed by the trusted hospital and never tampered by you.

but you may convince them that you had completed the vaccinations at K1 time and it's filed at POE if you have a copy.

  14. His entire medical examination sheets, including DS-3025, were already submitted in his port of entry time.
(remember he handed the "mysterious brown envelope" to the border protection officer.)
USCIS has stored all his POE documents in their warehouse linked to his alien number.
So technically he doesn't need to submit DS-3025 with AOS.
However it is better idea to get a copy of DS-3025 because sometimes USCIS lose our documents.
in fact, my DS-3025 was lost and I got a "no decision made" in my interview, and the copy of DS-3025 saved me to convince them.

  15. Your status is pending AOS. that means you are an out-of-status.

Better to wait a few months until you get a green card.

    FYI:

to apply a credit card, you may require a green card and your own income at least 10 times of your current rent(or monthly mortgage.)
Normally the credit card issuer will pull your residency status and tax return information by your SSN.
so if you apply a credit card like a normal US citizen now, you would get a denial, because you can't proof your income by your tax return.
the Credit Act has changed in 2009 and a lot of informations online are old and useless now.
I had been rejected until I learned this logic.

    Good luck

  16. Thank for sharing ideas.

We are not still getting a RFE.

Husband's opinion is "to obey whatever they told us." waiting is the best way to avoid complication.

My idea is to solve this before we get an official RFE(then we have to pay $$$ for a new I-693).

We argued over this. it was about to escalate into our relationship problem.

finally husband gave up, but I felt sorry like I ignored his opinion.

I would request a new report from your home-country, as they seem very kind to do it and for free, and have it as a back-up, in case nothing comes up from the USCIS after a while.

    It sounds really good idea.

it doesn't hurt my husband feelings and I can do something for myself :D

Is it better to get a certified copy, or a duplicated original?

the original is required my signature on it. so maybe It needs to exchange a couple international mails.

  17. I don't know what should I do :help:

Since USCIS lost my medical report, I should wait their searching for 90 days (and I bet they wouldn't find it and give me a RFE.)

I looked for another way which I can handle.

I inquired to the hospital in my country if they can re-issue a new sealed copy of medical report.

and they replied that they can make it (or an original report if I want) for free.

It sounds like manna from heaven to me.

But my husband against this solution.

he insists that this problem is USCIS' FAULT, NOT OURS. so if we submit a new report, that means we admitted our fault.

so just wait the USCIS' action even if it takes so long time. No status will effect nothing to our life.

that's true. but I am so anxious and nervous, and hoping to finish all as soon as possible.

and a little bit sad about that I couldn't share my insecure feelings with my husband.
