  1. Thanks for asking. No. Because she's doing a name change, we have to wait for a date at the fed. district court, which is only once a month. Maybe we'll get in for April? I'm not betting on it.

Oh wow. Well remember when I had my interview? I wanted a name change as well. I changed my mind when I found out Fairfax did same day oaths. Anyway, I changed my name on my own through the courthouse for $30.00 and wah lah... done! I hope she gets in for April. Fingers crossed!!!

  2. My wife passed her test today! Thanks Be to God! Now we wait for a slot in federal district court for an oath (she is changing her name). They only do it once a month, so if we don't get into the February ceremony (officer was not promising anything) we have to wait until mid-March. Thanks to VJ for the fantastic amount of help! We were way overprepared; they didn't ask for anything other than what we had already sent in.

Questions were (1) first 10 amendments; (2) who is Speaker of House; (3) Longest River; (4) Who is the President now; (5) When was the Declaration of Independence adopted; (6) Who lived in North America before the colonists came; (7) When do we celebrate Independence Day. She had to write something like "Independence Day is in July".

Did your wife have her Oath yet? I havn't seen a post from you in a while! I hope all is well : )

  4. Good luck to huniebee for the interview today!!!

Thanks Arlington!! Lets recap my day...

My appt was for 8:40am. There was new construction going on and I missed my turn! It was 8:15am. I finally was able to make a UTurn found parking and started running like a maniac. Huge line outside, it was blasted cold. The time was now 8:30am. After waiting to get in the door and pass security it was now 8:50!!!! I went to the 2nd level and waited. I was called in around 9:50. My officer was really nice too.

She went over my package, didnt ask me to read or write. She wanted to look at my gc and id. She asked me my civics questions..

#1. What is one right of united states citizens

#2. Who is the chief of the supreme court

    #3. Name two national holidays

#4. How many senators are there

#5. Where is the statue of liberty

    #6. What state borders Mexico

Thats it!! That simple!!! Gave me a letter that I was approved!!! Then she went to enter something in the computer and the computer froze!!!! She looked puzzled and said brb.

5 minutes later, she asked me to comeback @ 1pm for my oath ceremony. She said it will be extra special today since we will be celebrating MLK bday.

Cameback, no line - Thank u lord!! Waited for them to call my name to give up my gc and sign a copy of my certificate. She gave me a white package and wait togo upstairs.

Went upstairs and sat in my assigned seat. It was a beautiful ceremony! I was in tears. There were several camera men from several news channels there as well. Special guest was the director of homeland security who gave a speech and stayed for pics.

That was my day guys. Woke up @ 5 to beat traffic and was still late. lol.. Left @ 2:45pm and it was ALL worth it! I am finally a USC.

  5. Thanks boilermaker and sharky!

I guess time is coming up pretty fast.. i thought one of you guys were on the 19th?

Please post your experience and your emotions when you get it :)

Congrats huniebee.. Do they have same day oaths?

I am pretty sure they have same day oaths. Everyone I know that went through the fairfax, va location had oaths later on during the day after they passed their interview.

  6. Congratulations! That's great!

I saw over the weekend that "Lindsey y Koki" got their interview letter and they were end-of-June filers, so I was hopeful I'd be hearing from you soon. That's great news--finally. Let us know when you get your letter. You filed about a week before us, so we'll be watching for something soon.

I hope you hear something soon!

  7. Sorry guys, was away in Cali for 5 days for some much needed SUN!!! B-)

Anyway got home last night, letter was there. Opening it I felt like I was on the stage at an oscars ceremony with my roommate watching and a drum role going on in my head lol

My Oath date is 22 of December!!!!! :wow: 3 days before Xmas, I didn't know they did oath ceremonies that close to christmas?!!

Anyhow it seems I am a very lucky chap, and if I expedite the passport process I should receive it before Jan 10th, and If not my housemate is flying out to meet me in Hawaii on the 17th and i will definitely get it by then so she is gonna bring it out to me, either way......

    PHEWWWW!!!!!! what a relief! :star:

    C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S!!!!

WOW...after so many weeks. got an email today saying that I have been scheduled for Oath Ceremony, I can't wait to get the letter in the mail.

I bet you were estatic! Congratulations

  8. Arlington, any word? I cannot believe this is taking so long! I got so fed up waiting that I called USCIS today. I was blessed with such a nice and helpful officer today. She created some case and said that she was sending it over to the Fairfax, Va field office. Hopefully I will get a response back in 15days. The same officer even escalated the call to a level 2 officer! I didn't even have to ask. Anyway, the level 2 officer was NO help and told me the same thing you did weeks ago. That the field office was working on March filers. Boooo!! :bonk:
