I have a question,,My mother in law has been a permanent resident for 14 years. She's going to Brazil to take care of her mother that is very sick. She's going to stay there for 8 months. We called the USCIS service center and we asked them if she is going to have any problem when she returns (because everybody believes that you can only stay outside of US 6 months) and they said that a Permanent resident can stay out of US for 1 year and return without any problems. My question is: Has anybody been trough the same situation?She is still worried that she will have problems when she get back.Thank You!!

I'm trying to help my friend ... So ... She came to us with a tourist visa in March 2013, it should return to Brazil before September 2013. But she was here with her boyfriend. She gave birth to their daughter in April 2014 and they were married in September 2014. He applied for his naturalization few months ago and his ceremony will be next month.Can anyone give me step by step of its "adjustment of status"?What paperwork she needs?How about fees?Thank You!

How long usually does it takes for the check get cashed and they send me the NOA1?

My father-in-law applied last year asking a green card to bring his mother from Brazil to live here in the United States. She got here in October 2014, all procedures were done correctly. She already has her social, but the green card has not yet arrived.The problem is that she wants to go back to Brazil.Our questions are: We can let her go to Brazil before the green card arrives, and then send the green card by mail for her in Brazil?Is there any possibility of "switch" the green card for a tourist visa?Thank You!!!

I am Brazilian, but when we send the IF-129 I was living in Italy, but during the process I had to return to Brazil. We received our NOA2 on September 20. We asked for NVC to send our file to the Rio de Janeiro but for some unknown reason this was not done. My case went to the consulate in Naples-Italy. A few days later the consulate in Rio de Janeiro asked for transfer my documents to Brazil. The Italian consulate sent me an email saying that on October 27th they transferred my case to Brazil, but the consulate in Rio de Janeiro has not received it. i'm very worried, because I don't know how long it will take to my case arrive in Brazil. And also because my NOA2 is valid until January 19th. Can anyone tell me what can I do ? how to know if they really sent my file to Rio? how to know when my documents will arrive at the consulate in Brazil?
I'm so frustrated.

From now on It's downhill..the only pain in the #### will be the 3 days trip in Naples,but after it..that's it! Thank you... But I'm not going to do my interview in Naples. I'm going to Brazil and I'll do the interview in Rio de Janeiro (so... a couple days in Rio sounds good to me). =D
