  1. wow excited for my interview..such an inspiring thing to hear whenever someone shares their interview.. how long will it take for her to have her visa then? congrats wonderful christmas gift for you both :)

  2. yesterday i finished my psychiatric evaluation with St.Luke's.. the staff there told me to come back 2-3days after my evaluation.. after talking to the psychiatrist, she just said, okay thank you for ur time.. she didn't say anything in regards to all the confidential stuff we talked about..

i wonder though, what will she say on the result? like what will she write on the evaluation form saying that i am a perfectly normal thinker/person that'll never be a danger of a society and how will she say that i'm passed? everyone who undergoes the psychiatric evaluation passes it right? no i am not annulled the doctor just found scars on my wrist it all came from my ex boyfriend who used to beat me back in 2007 and i never had any history of self-infliction. i explained everything to her

i know i should just wait but i really want to feel at ease.. pleaseto those who had this kind of scenario i need ur reply regarding ur experience thank you a lot :)

  3. hey guys... our k1 petition was already approved by the USCIS last 29th of September.. still waiting for the Packet 3 from NVC .. i bet I will as the fiancee will receive it any time soon.. but i have one thing in mind that's bugging me.. my middle name..

    instructions for this section:

Has your fiancé(e) ever used other names, including maiden name?

    Your Answer:

    Yes

    Instructions for this section:

    Other Names

    Your Answer:

    Other Names#1

    Louise Ann Madrid Mateo

this is what was asked when we were starting with our I-129F application..

my late mom's maiden name was Madrid, but on my birth certificate it appears that my middle name is Madrid..

on the I-129F Petition for Alien Fiance form Part B. Information about your fiance (e)

it appears there that my last name is MATEO, first name LOUISE then middle name is ANN.. then on the names used (including maiden name)

it's put there LOUISE ANN MADRID MATEO.. which somehow makes sense for me to include that answer since i am using my late mom's maiden name anyway... (just that on my birth certificate and pp Madrid is what my middle name is)

but since I got confused and didn't think that MADRID is my middle name, I put ANN on the I-129F form as my middle name.

now when we received the Notification of Approval from USCIS my name appears as, MATEO, LOUISE A.

oh my gosh i hope you guys understand my explanation up there.. i hope i didn't confuse you all..

but, i know things will be fine right? we are just waiting for the packet 3 from NVC and will set my interview schedule soon, should i open this to the officer who will interview me? and tell them i really got confused about my middle name.. we were approved by the USCIS anyway so i bet when they did a background investigation on the petitioner and beneficiary they also included on checking on every details that we've indicated on the forms.. plus, they approved us on the petition so meaning things are fine .. right? and.. I have all the supporting and legal documents saying that my middle name is MADRID.

but please give me your point of view on this one.. and please tell me we will be fine thank you so much :)

  4. i have read some forums over here saying that 22 years old fiancees do not really need to have Notarized Parental Advice when attending the CFO in Manila BUT the forums i read were 3-2 years ago... not sure if this CFO have changed their rule for this year that's why i have to make sure..

did you guys have any experience on this one? would really help if Filipinas who have the experience about this would help me out on my question esp to those who were 22 years old when they attended the CFO..

really need an answer cos i am already gathering all the documents that I need for the interview and other events i need to attend to.

    thank you a lot :)

  5. so i guess my question speaks for itself :)

but yea, just want to clarify this question in my head... i have been reading some experiences from people over here saying they did their medical examination at St. Luke's in Manila even without the appointment letter or the packet 3 from NVC or Embassy (not sure where the packet 3 will come from.. either NVC or Embassy?) and the guard allowed them even if they only had their NOA2 from USCIS with them...

some were saying, that the guard allowed their walk-throughs with the NOA2 and Manila Case # Letter from NVC with them...

but on the website of SLEC, one of the Required Documents is Appointment letter from the Embassy or Instruction letter from the National Visa Center (NVC), so ...

which to go for? cos we are already thinking of getting my Medical Done while we are waiting for the Packet 3 from NVC or Embassy..

oh yea, one more thing, really, where would the Packet 3 come from as well anyway? NVC or Embassy...

    thanks a lot :)

  6. Can anyone apply through Vermond Service Center? I might sound stupid but I am curious. Thanks and Congratulations!!!!!

hey i don't think you can choose, not sure but i think they are forwarding the case based on which state you are living.. for ex., if you are in Los Angeles, then your case will obviously go through California Service center , but since my fiancee is based in new mexico our file was forwarded to Vermont... if you are in NY your case will be forwarded as well to Vermont.. i think there are only 3 service centers, Cali, Vermont and Nebraska...

either ways, you will be fine and keep the faith that it will be as fast as hell stay optimistic we will all get there goodluck :)

  7. Congratulayions!!!! u really got it very quick... hang in there.. u will get the hard copy of ur approval in the mail... stay patient..and keep the faith! God bless!!!

thank you!! we just received the hard copy today he opened it and read to me.. now it is me the beneficiary who will receive the packet 3 from NVC or EMBASSY? i am getting confused what's going to happen next...

  8. congratulations, all that matters is that it got approved. the next step is how freaking long it will take to get over to the nvc. my petition was approved on the 21 of sept. and it still hasn't arrived at the nvc yet.

thank you for that :) well what they said was it usually takes 2-3 weeks until you hear back from the NVC so sit still and being patient and optimistic are the best things we could ever do.. "great things come to those who have patience" we are almost there :) congrats as well

  9. okay first of all.. I want to thank God for being so amazing on granting this incredible early holiday gift for us. secondly, i am so impressed with how fast the processing is with Vermont Service Center so for those who have their files being processed at Vermont, sit tight cos they are moving extra fast.

my question though, when i looked at the USCIS website and checked on our receipt number, it already says there,

"POST DECISION ACTIVITY" On September 29, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), and so on..

but we haven't received any emails or mails yet though... why is it like that?

hmmm you guys mind on responding to this question

thank you thank you thank you

goodluck to all of you with this I129F processing . keep your faith still and high ;)

  10. hey it doesn't hurt to give the expedite a try right? there was this case that i read once they expedited their case and got approved because the beneficiary has stage 3 cancer i think.. but that has a pretty intense situation though that's why they got approved.. so i think, your case is still worth a try.. though, if your fiancee is in the military and he will soon to be deployed then you try to expedite your case, it will have a greater chance of approval...

but once again, keep your faith strong.. there is nothing wrong on trying it :)

  11. if the photos wouldn't be enough for the immigration, you should probably expect some RFEs for additional proof of your relationship. i hope you included other proofs like emails call records etc etc along with your documents to the uscis when you sent your application though.. oh well either way, if it won't be enough for them they will mail you to ask for more evidence so no worries .. just prepare and include everything that you can if ever they contact you.. and if one of the reasons why you can't take tons of photos with your fiancee during your time of visit to her place, just write down that reason that Iran isn't as liberal when it comes to this thing when they ask you for RFEs.. you'll be fine goodluck:)

  12. if you answer NO it will be better cos non of these will happen yet (work and study) while you are going through all the process you need marriage, AOS , etc. you have to make sure everything is settled first before you jump to your second plan which is work and school. another thing is you do not have any exact employer yet right? so just leave it blank or no first nothing wrong with it... just deal with this future employment once you're already in the states, had your aos and eligibility to work or work permit.

you are applying for k1 FIANCEE VISA anyway not for work visa.. you are not going to lie to them if you say NO you are just highly prioritizing the purpose of k1 VISA before these 2.

lesser questions interrogations and complications as well.. :) goodluck

    nvm my first comment :)

  13. if you answer NO it will be better cos non of these will happen yet (work and study) while you are going through all the process you need marriage, AOS , etc. you have to make sure everything is settled first before you jump to your second plan which is work and school.

cos in all honesty, you are applying for k1 FIANCEE VISA anyway not for work visa.. you are not going to lie to them if you say NO you are just highly prioritizing the k1 VISA first before these 2.

lesser questions interrogations and complications as well.. :) goodluck

  14. what i once read before, the college you are aiming for SHOULD ACCEPT YOU FIRST (you basically have to reach them online) and then that'll be the only time you can apply for a student visa.

the immigration should know where exactly you're heading before they even make their decision.

now about you living with your bf's family(or w/your boyfriend), i don't really think it'll be too much of a fuss for the government, you just really have to show them through your documents, (i.e. financial support, bank statement of yours or your parents) that you are financially secured and can provide the everyday expenses so they won't look at you as a liability in their country. i guess the best thing you could do once they set you an interview or when they ask you about your accommodation, tell them that these people are your family friends.. you and his family have known each for quite a long time.. something like that..

as long as you can provide your daily expenses and or financially secured, and as long as you can provide them a legit answer about where will you be accommodating, they won't look at any angles anymore.

and then probably after you being there after a few months, then the 2 of you could married already :P

    goodluck :)

  15. cenomar i got mine before he filed the k1 application so it could same me more time to process other stuff i have to go through. so it'd be better if she gets it as earlier as she can to save time :)

the police clearance is only good for 3 months so she should get that days before her medical examination/interview, once you received your noa2 already.. and the immig ff the 5months of timeline so sit tight i bet by october you already have it in your hands :)

bwy, not really necessary for youi to be there on the day of her interview cos the embassy only allows those who have an interview schedule with them.. so if you come with her i bet you will have to wait for her outside or something :)

    anyways, goodluck with us!

  16. I don't think you insulted anyone, and 95% of the people on Vj will go out of their way to help you. In fact, you might be a valuable resource to the board, because you live in and are familiar with the MLA area, so maybe you can answer questions for people from out of town. As I said, read, read, read, then feel free to ask if you still have questions. I promise you, every question you can think of has already been asked/answered at least twice on here, lol.

Oh, and welcome to the group! You are embarking on a journey that can be most frustrating, and it painfully slow at times (unless you apply in April-June each year), but we are all doing it, you can too. Tell us about you and your fiance, where is he from, etc. There is a thread on how you met, feel free to tell us your story. Reading and posting on here will not make the time go by any faster, but it WILL help you realize you are not alone.

Ever been to Bohol? Looking to go there in October, so if you have any advice to share, I would appreciate it!

oh well my fiance and I just forwarded the documents to the USCIS the last Sunday.. have another post about the letter of intent to marry.. we have evrything complete, not until i read the USCIS website says that one of the requirements is the Letter of intent to marry, which we did not have on the documents that we filed. i read the uscis site after we passed the forms already.. we used an immigration service center that didn't mention anything regarding to a letter of intent to marry.. some people said that we might receive an RFE but there was one girl who said they applied for the k1 visa too and didn't submit the letter of intent but still got their application approved. what can you say about this?

yea Bohol is a gorgeous place, when you get to Alona beach, please give some food to the stray dogs in the beach.. they are beach dogs and really cool to see a pack of gang walking around the shore. chocolate hills of course is a must see .. there are tons of inexpensive nice places over there, l'elephant blu is one, french owned place.. well just so you know, the place is very touristy, so if you are the type of person who's fed up on dealing with the same old white people who are always up for drinking and stuff, then the place might not be for you.. a lot of Europeans over there.. soon to be invaded by the Europeans. goodluck with your Bohol trip! :)

  17. By the way, knowing the exact amount of the fees isn't that helpful. I'm assuming you'll be paying for plane tickets to Manila for the interview and the medical; plus the cost of hotels while there. Of course the medical may involve more than one trip (stupid sputum test) and that will mean more plane tickets and hotels.

So, even knowing the fees, you'll still have extra costs that could vary a lot.

This is an expensive process and we're not all wealthy, so save as much as you can as quickly as you can.

    Good luck.

im not from the outside of the city so i dont have to be worried about domestic plane tickets or hotels. just really need the estimated calculation for all the necessary payments. thanks :)

  18. LA2012,

Relax a minute, ok? I recommend you read every single post on the first 4 pages of this forum, then start asking questions. Why? Because you will find that most people on here mean very well, but sometimes, things come across wrong when typed and you can't see/hear their faces. And you will not always agree with all opinions you read here, so you just have to sort thru that.

Nothing wrong with being young, in love, and poor. In fact, the majority of us started out that way. You have a long road ahead of you, trying to be together in the US, and it will be expensive, too. I would say that $5,000 is pretty close to the end amount of money you will spend, but it can be spread out over a year or more. There is an initial fee of $455 just to file a petition (I think this cost actually went down after we filed last August, current fees are on the USCIS website), there is a medical fee of $213, there is visa fee of $350, and that is just to get approved visa. And then there is the cost of a plane ticket, typically around $1,000, airport taxes, CFO fee, the cost of a marriage license, then filing for Adjustment of Status (AOS), around $1,070, and that should be done ASAP after getting married. And as mentioned, none of this includes the costs of food, travel, and lodging to and from MNL.

Yes, it is expensive, but you don't need to have all the money at once, you can either save it up and have it set aside, or just pay as you go. But it would be really bad to pay for an application, and an exam fee, only to not have the money for the visa fee. So I say save at least $2,000 before you apply, or at least know you can have it saved by the time you will receive your visa (this can take from 2-5 months). Once you get your visa, you only have 6 months to get to the USA. And once in the USA, only 90 days to get married. So there are time constraints.

As I said up front, relax. Everyone here is on your side, we are all doing the same thing, but you are new here, and your question is a hard one to answer. You will figure it all out, and most here will be helpful. Lots to learn here, and as TCO said, you will grow in the process of learning. Wish you the best on your journey, but I hope you take my advice and read a lot here. As you read, you will have many questions, but if you keep reading, all of them WILL BE ANSWERED, I promise.

Salamat po and walang anuman po!

i really appreciate your time to respond and taking the time to help my question out. my apology if i worded such things in an insulting/not so agreeable way though. once again, thank you a lot :)

  19. You question has already been answered.

You two will be fine and it will be good for ya'll going thru this process, it will make both of you stronger and learn to lean on each other.

oh thank you a lot for such a beautiful encouragement. i really really appreciate it :)
