I haven't received anything in the mail, but there was an update on my case status this morning saying they ordered the new card on January 20th.

No RFE, no Interview or anything...so, that's good I guess. And, proof that turning in the paperwork after the expiration date does not automatically result in denial.

Hi. Case was received at VSC on March 20, 2015.

I haven't heard anything in regards to our case yet either. And we leave the country on Saturday. Luckily we have the stamp from the USCIS field office, but still, makes me nervous!

Now it's November 1st!!!! Updates 8/19/15???

Yeah...I'm getting a little worried.

We have a complicated situation. Filed to lift conditions late, after my husbands GC was already expired. Included the letter of explanation, and received the extension letter as normal with no problem. Biometrics were scheduled in a timely manner, and went off without a hitch. In fact, the man doing my husband's biometrics said he would 'definitely' get approved regardless of the late file. (I was happy to hear that, but also not putting my hope in it).

We have been planning and saving for a trip back to my husband's country (Tonga) to visit family - first time for all of them to meet our 1 year old - so very important to my husband. But, now we can't find the extension letter and called USCIS but they refuse to send us a new one. They say we can go get a stamp in his passport at a local USCIS office. I'm hoping we will just get approved and receive the new GC before we have to worry about getting a stamp - but now, they are taking soooo long I'm starting to worry!

Plus, there's a chance I guess if they do finally get to the March filers, that we could be denied based on the late file - then I don't know if we will be able to make our trip in December - although I do have the extension letter which is good for 1 year. Does that trump a denial - or once denied then he can't leave the country? We don't want to miss this trip because it cost us over $5K and is nonrefundable.

On a side note..and a soap box - it's irritating that a law abiding, tax paying, green card holder that has already paid every attention and followed every immigration process from K-1 to today, including thousands of dollars of fees, has to fear denial and possible (?) deportation due to filing a paper a few days late. booo

I just added my name to the list.

We applied two weeks after the green card expired :cry:Somehow our busy life just prevented us from paying attention to deadlines. Anyways, everything has progressed normally so far, and the man at the biometrics appointment was overly-confident that we would be approved.

We have a trip planned in December to Tonga, so hoping everything works itself out by then so no issues in traveling. Tickets already bought.

I have been out of the country for my fiance's interview so I haven't been able to update at all. Long story short is interview went well, visa was approved and Simi and I travelled back to America together on Wednesday. So nice to finally have him home. Thank you so much for all the support from VJ - couldn't have done it without you all!

So Planning a trip to Tonga/Fiji is a logistical nightmare! We have our interview on January 9th at 9am, and even though my fiance is Tongan, there is no embassy in Tonga so he has to fly to Fiji. And, the only flight out is on Saturday, but it only goes to the Nandi airport, not Suva. So, we have to figure out how to get him to Suva. Plus, I am meeting him there so I had to strategically book plane tickets from VA to CA to Fiji to Tonga and then back to USA. And, we don't know when or if he will get the visa in hand so we can't plan our return trips very well. Just to be safe we will be staying in Fiji for 6 days at a sweet resort on the beach. Phew! It's a good thing too because I def need a vacation after all this!

I'm totally broke now, but at least we will be together again soon, right?

I have a questionnnnn, or questions I guess...

My case was forwarded to the embassy on December 14th. So, what happens next? Do I need to keep calling to see if they've received it the way I did with NVC? How long after they receive it do they send the packet out? Annnnd, how long after they receive it can I schedule an interview date?

I know some of this is country specific, but can you help? Thanks and congrats again!

My NOA2 is November 29th and NVC still don't have it.

I thought when they get it they assign the embassy case number right away is that not the case???

I thought that too, so I was immediately excited when they told me they had finally received my case, then immediately sad when they told me it would take 10-20 business days to just get it in a computer. I could drive there and put it in the computer faster than that!

I guess I have to wait for it to be in the computer before I can get someone to assign it a case number? Or does it get assigned a case number when it is put in. WHO KNOWS!

Hi all, I just saw this thread and thought i'd chime in. I got my NOA2 on November 25th. NVC just received my case today and the lady I spoke with told me it had arrived in the building but would take another 10-20 business days to be put into the computer. THE WAITING NEVER ENDS. FML.

Thanks bro... Really can't believe that NOA-2 STILL hasn't come. I was looking at Igor's list and I clicked "back" because I was getting pissed at all the approvals for petitioners who filed after I did. I'm not mad at the filers, just don't understand why NO July approvals in almost a week, but August and a couple of SEPTEMBER approvals came through.

Pretty good thing I am so far away from CSC....

Have you tried congressional inquiry?? Maybe it's time.

My case just finally got to NVC 15 days later, and now they are telling me it will take 10-20 business days for it to be entered into the system. gerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Does it really take 2 weeks to send a mail from Vermont to New Hampshire? No, it doesnt.

My lovely fiance can send me mail in a matter of days from the middle of the blue blue pacific, on the other side of the bloody world!!!! But, USCIS can't get my case from Vermont to the NVC in New Hampshire before 15 days. Sighhhhh

My grown-up christmas list:

we will all be with our better halves for christmas! (if only in our dreams.. ) too much christmas music will do this to a person!

I'm confused! I know the K-1 is supposed to be sent to the NVC after NOA2, but I called NVC and they don't have my case. My NOA2 says that my case has been forwarded to the listed consulate, except there is no consulate listed. The operator at NVC told me to call USCIS and figure out where they sent it. I can't do that until tomorrow, so now i'm just wondering if anyone knows what could possibly be going on with my case? Is it possible that the case could be sent straight to the consulate?

Well, I don't know how the process is after the NOA2 in your countries, but here in Colombia OMG I am amused!!!

They recently changed all the process, now everything is so much easier and faster!!! I could have had my interview for next week or december if we wanted, but we still need time to organize all the paperwork. I already schedule my appointment for the week when my Fiance is going to be here in Colombia!!! We can program, cancel and re-schedule appointment whenever we want.

I have not received anything form the consulate yet, but I did schedule my appointment already

Thank you!! I am so glad everything is moving quickly for you - that is what I wish for us as well. There actually is no American Embassy in Tonga so Simi has to fly to Figi for the interview. I think I am going to go meet him there, and be with him for the interview (a.k.a vacation for meee yayay!). I really hope NVC moves quickly for us I am SO over waiting!! Simi has already done his Medical so we'd be ready when the time came. I am going to bring all his papers with me to Figi so we'll be all set (this is better than mailing - it takes a month at the least for anything to arrive in Tonga from America gererr)..just have to wait for that lucky date of interview. SOOO Excited we are going to be together again soon - it's been almost 11 months since i've seen him

How does the NVC communicate with the petitioner? Will I need to call to find out if my case has been received or do they e-mail? Does a K-1 Visa Petition receive a case # at NVC? If so, how do I find out what it is? THANKS SO MUCH!

I am particularilly interested in finding out how long it took them to set your appointment date.

What was they time between them receiving the package from NVC and the interview .

My fiance is also from Tonga! We just received our NOA2 yesterday so I can't completely answer your questions. But, I will let you know how the next few weeks go!

Wow - just yesterday you were saying all you ever see in the mailbox are bills, now 24 hours later the approval comes!

Maybe if I get a audit notification from the IRS I can get my NOA-2!

I just had to come share the good news! Finally when I least suspected it - NOA2!!!! Sent July 14th, NOA 1 July 18th, 130 days total!
