Thanks to you all for your posts, reviews and responses on VJ. You've all been of immense help to my fiance and I. My interview was successful on July 24, 2012 and i've picked up my visa on Aug 17, The process was very successful and in three weeks i'm joining my fiance in the US. I wish everyone preparing for their interview success. Just prepare thoroughly and ask questions for more information on VJ as my fiance keep telling me. Does the U.S. embassy in Ghana accepts Skype call records that have been copied and pasted in Word document? If not, does anyone know of a better way of printing the call records using Windows?

yes you can copy your skype in word. its fine. thats what i used and it was good.

I'm three weeks close to my interview. i have my medicals done results also ready. I was given a small sealed white envelope that contains the medical results and another big one that has the x-ray. I want to be sure which of these two envelopes do i take to the interview. The lady at the hospital who handed over my results to me said i have to take only the small white envelope to the interview and keep the x-ray envelope with me when i'm travelling to the states. I need a confirmation on this.

I would start medicals about 6-8 weeks before interview. It depends on where the yellow card is from and if they will accept it. You won't know until you go. But you can call and inquire before going. But the exam and xrays have to be done there.

Request the Police Certificate one month before interview, it can be picked up between 10-14 days. They will not accept one that is more then a month old.

Thanks for your response. The yellow card is from the Ministry of Health, Ghana. I have my yellow fever immunization recorded in it during the 2011 nationwide yellow fever immunization. It also has a column to enter other vaccinations, immunizations so i took it along with me to SSNIT HOSPITAL for the hepathiatis B to be recorded in it.

When is it good for me to do my medicals and get my Police report?? My interview date is on July 24. I gathered that the Police report could take a month before i get it.

I have started with my hepatitis B vaccination already and i'm left with the last shot to be taken on July 17, I have my yellow card to show is it possible for them to ask me to start the shots again??

Must I include ds-157 and ds-158 although it didnt come with the forms (ds-156, ds 156k, 230) given by the embassy??

My fiance's interview is on March 8th in ghana and we have all the documents except the new certified birth certificates, what are the chances that we will get the visa approved. I am planning on going to Ghana in two days to be there for the interview.

Please tell your fiance to go the birth and death registry in Accra near the independence square. The junction before the independence square its an untarred road. he should go there for the new birth cert. its about ghc 25. i did mine last yr. it takes a week to get.

Yes- fill it out- it will then add a barcode to it- save it and print it.

I would wait for everything until your closer to the interview to make sure your forms are updated ones.

should i fill out in capitals or lower case?? checking on the DS-156 online beneath the barcode is a portion i'm to affix my photo. i want to know if i'm to affix my photo there or it is for official use???

When are you going to pick the packets? they sent me a letter to come and pick mine on the 14th of this month, I think the packet basically contain the checklist of things that you are to bring for the interview plus ,the appointment letter and the D-S 157, DS-230,DS-156K and the DS-156 is online form when must be filled and print, If you are picking your packet the same day lets keep in touch so that we will figure out what to do after picking the forms ok,

I-134 (tax transcripts, and other supporting docs)

Instructions for medical, police certificate, payment of fee, and passport pictures, Birth certificate (make sure they have a new one)

If applicable: military records, divorce records

Do not use the forms they give you- print them from the site. They do not give the newest ones usually.

Hello Vjers, which website should i print my forms from for my interview ??thus the forms in the packet 3. i'm told i'll be given the forms from the embassy when i recieve packet 3 but i learnt the forms i get from the embassy will be expired so i need to print them and fill it out for my interview.waiting for your valuable information. thanks.

Can you please tell us what to do because my fiance and I are worried because some people who filed in sept have recieved their's and we filed in Aug but bavent received anything....

I want to start gathering all the recommended documents for my husband's interview. I'm confused on what type of folder or notebook to put everything in. What will ghana embassey accept don't want to put them in the wrong thing.

I think you can put them in separate A4 size envelopes and label them so that when asked you just give the envelopes out. It sholdnt be bulky though as some people who have been to the interview stated here on VJ.

Hello VJ members! I'm happy I found out about this website even though I have paid a lot of money to lawyers before getting my NOA2 approval. Here is my story , my petition was approved about 4 days ago and right now I am gathering the required documents to apply for the K1 visa at the US embassy. I'm a student living in the Netherlands, I met my fiancee a USC on interracial dating site last year May. She came to Netherlands 4 months after. She was here for two weeks and we got engaged during this period. We applied for the

F-129 petition in July and got the approval 4 days ago. I'm in the process of gathering the required documents and also waiting for the packets from the US embassy in Amsterdam. The reason why i'm sending this post is because i'm a bit nervous or say worried because i'm from one of the high fraud country although i've been living in the Netherlands as a student for the last 2 years with good academic records. I'm nervous and worried that the reputation of my country might count against me in getting the K1 visa even though i'm not applying in my country because I have student resident permit here in Netherlands. I will be applying in Amsterdam, but i'm so worried and nervous. My fiancee has been here twice now and she's planning to come for the interview as well. I need a word of advise or say encouragement from VJ memebers who has gone through something like this before. I'm I worrying too much on nothing? is my case something to worry about? Dont be nervous. i can identify with you because i'm in the same situation. however, with enough preparation, read a lot on VJ, Read other people's reviews, posts questions and you'll be fine. God is our source of hope and confidence when we have done our bit. All the best!

I would like to know whether it is a MUST to submit remittances receipts in addition to other documents at the interview??? That is receipts of money transfers that ones fiance or fiancee has been sending to him or her. In our case we dont have such receipts there's no remittances from my fiance because i'm gainfully employed and have a good salary though it could be better. lol!. We are saving for our marriage when we together. In case the CO posed this question to me as to why my fiance was not sending me money what good and acceptable reason can i provide??? is it a must that we submit remittances receipts to the interview. Oh ok, I am just hoping for the better , this can be very frustrating sometimes but if you love someone you should be able to wait no matter how long it gonna take to be together finally

we are within the same timeline as you though a month ahead of you. We filed at the California Service Center on Aug 20 and waiting for our NOA2. Yeah hopefully we are approved next month since that will be our 5th month. Lets keep our fingers crossed!

I will update you guys soon. My best interview so far. I got a lovely CO. You really need to get more evidence like the call records from the States and Ghana, skype records, yahoo chats emails from you and your partners, joint account statement, and your pictures. You need to highlight all ur numbers in the call recors for easy identification. And arrange them neatly in folders.And when you go before the CO, please dont panic and stammer. All the Best!

Police Certificate can vary from 20-40GHC depending on who you know.... They will take your pictrues there...

Wait for the police certificate (in ghana they dont want it more then a month old). Osu police station- takes about 2 weeks to get. They require you to take the pictures there. Just walked in and requested it.

Wait on the medical- you want it to be valid for AOS here.... you need passport pictures here.

They ask for papers one by one- photo albums can be tricky- I did a paper folder with plastic sleeves for pictures to make sure it fits. My husband said things fit- but i would go with small things...

Last Ghana did was mail 3&4- if you get it your lucky. Once you know your case has been sent from NVC you can email them with Case number (get from NVC) to ask for a pickup date... .

Pictures, communications, plane tickets and such Anything and EVERYTHING. Make sure all names and DOBs match on Ghana papers, get new birth certificate if needed. Wait till a month before interview for Police Certificate, medicals can happen once you have your date.

Tax Transcripts are the best for the I-864. Make sure you have all papers that go with this.

Passport pictures.

Process- enter, wait to be called.... I believe you pay before going for K-1 now (check with recent people)... you can check your cell phone at the guard...make sure you can slide stuff under a window opening- no big notebooks.

My fiance and i are waiting for our NOA2 hopefully we receive it in Jan 2012. We filed in Aug 20, 2011 so Jan 2012 will be 5months in application. I'm asking what do i do while i wait for my interview date, Noa2. I have gathered our documents, my new birth cert, passport, pic, call logs, cards..

2. WHAT items do i need for the interview?

3. is the Ghana emabassy going to call me on phone to pick up my packages 3 and 4 at the embassy or it'll be mailed to my postal address??

4. whats the interview process like right from entering the premises of the embassy?

5. what should be my appearnace and how do i go about answering the CO questions??
