  1. 10 years ago we brought our 8 year old grandson here on a Student Visa, he was basically an abandoned child in his country.  When we came we got legal custody of him. Got him in school, he has done great, three years ago we adopted him, one of his real parents had died, we never found the other He had no contact with her since he came over.  Our problem is that when we adopted him he was already 16 years old, Immigration had denied our petition for citizenship because he had to be 15 or younger. when adopted. We have paid $thousands in Lawyer fees and still nothing is happening. He is 19 now, Is ready to start college, but can't get drivers license or social security card.He is a great kid has several college scholarship opportunities, What can we do.

  2. My grandson is here on a student visa. We have moved and he is no longer going to the school we register in. He has been here four years. We were given legal custody of him three years ago. His life was very bad in Russia. He has no desire to go back; He is in the 7th grade, a honor role student, very good in Sports. As far as he and everyone else knows he is a normal American boy. His Russian Passport ran out while he is here. We are getting a new one sent by his father in Russia, but it will not have the student visa stamp on it.

Does any of this talk of children getting green card because they came to US younger and don't want to go back possible with him. I am an American citizen, his grandmother has green card.

    What do you think.

  3. We are trying for a student visa for our grandson. Originally we tried a tourist visa but they said to retry for a student visa.

We did everything now they say we need a NEVES I-20 form filled out by the school and then pay a receipt.

Looking at the information it looks like we have to pay a fee of $200 for a receipt plus

if the school is not certified they have to pay a fee of $ 1650 or so to get certified.

Is this correct or am I doing something wrong. He has already been to Moscow and come back and they said it would be accepted but do I have to pay all of this.

    Please help me.

  4. MY wife is waiting in Russia till an interview for our granson to come on a tourist visit us in America.

We tried to get the whole family to come earlier but thery weew turned down.

Now we would like her grandson to dome. He i under 14 so should not have to have an interview but they are makin hime come to Moscow anyway along withs his parents.

    Can anyone answer these questions.

    1) do both parents have to come to the interview. They are 12 hours from Moscow, this is very expensive for transportation.

    2) Can his grandma come to the interview.

    3) Do they normally deny these types of visa's

    Thanks for your information.

  5. Hello: We would like to get my son-in-law and grandson over here from Russia. What is the fastest way to get this done. We got her greencard today.....

Some have suggested getting son here on a work visa and grandson here on a tourist visa and then file for adjustment(AOS)

What do you think. they have a terrible life in Russia. Could we get them here and then file for asylum or something. I need your advice.

  6. We got the letter today........January 19,2007. the letter said we were approved for the green card in October. Why we didn't get the notice earlier I don't understnad.

Anyway, we are excited. My wife first words were, honey you get to sleep with an American girl tonight.................she is so funny sometime.

Good luck to all of you who are waiting. We had our interview in August so it took 5 months to get the good news........

  7. Hello:

My wife Maria came here three months ago. She spoke almost no English. She is taking ESL classes at our Community College. She has improved a great deal Her teachers are amazed. I bought her a pocket translator($200) that is helping a lot. She also wathcing TV and picks up a lot from that, News and information channels help alot.

She pretty much understands everything, just can't speak it well, get frustrated sometimes but I encourage her and give her high 5's when she speaks good english.

    Hope this helps.

    Larry

My fience can speak some English but of course is self-concous about it and also worried.

HOw did you complete the education in english? Was it just learn as you go or were you able to obtain a tutor? I have been looking in my area for someone to teach it but have been unsuccessful todate

  8. He is married and 30 years old, grandson is 5. They just want to come over and spend time with his mom and see all the things she talks to them about.

You have to give more information. My assumption is that he at least 21 if he has a child. So that would mean it wouldn't be so easy only because of the "assumption of immigrating" that the USCIS has when they evaluate visa applications. Give more info about age of son and grandson, marital status all those good things.
  9. I went to Moscow wiht my wife Maria for her interview. I stood outside in cold blinding snow storm for two hours waiting for her. I thought I was going to freeze to death but when she came out with that beautiful smile on her face, I knew it was all worth it. She has been here for seven months now and we are as happy as two love birds should be.

Wear warm clothes if you go during the winter. There is no good place to wait. I went ot a store for a drink across the street but you can't see her come out from there.

Have a wonderful life. Larry and Maria

I will be going to Moscow for the interview when we get that date. Yes I know I can not attend the interview but we both want to be together for this.

Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

    Current Status:

This case has been approved. On October 25, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please speak to an Immigration Information Officer during business hours.

  10. You all are trying to hard.

Travelocity .com, tickets on Delta from Moscow $800 -1000 depending on where you are going. Atlanta is non-stop. 12 hour flight.

She just takes her passport to the delta counter at the airport and checks in, even brought her cat over last trip, no problems.

    Have a fun life.

  11. Hello all......thanks for all your advice.

Well let me finish the story.................

The night after I wrote she woke me up in the middle of the night and we made love for two hours. The next morning it was like nothing was ever wrong and it has been perfect since.

She finally was able to tell me that she was just really tired from the 12 hour plane ride, the 12 hour train ride befoe leaving Russia and the 12 hour drive when we cme home from Atlanta. She missed her family and I did not understand she was so tired, trying to get her to get up when she slept while I was at home.

Well that was three days ago, she is still as romantic as she was in the middle of the night.(she is wearing me out), she constantly tells me she loves me and talks about all the things we will do together. She says we are partners nafsegda(forever). I got a calling card for Russia nd she has called her friends and family and I heard her tell them she is happy and loves her husband.

Women, so hard to understand. she starts her ESL classes on Monday. We got her a backpack tonight, she is thrilled.

Now that things are going so great we have to start working on the "big" problems like using the washer and dryer instead of washing her clothes by hand.

And for all of you who thought I was whining about the $40,000, she is worth that and a million more......I would do it all over gain for the happiest she is showing me. Yes it was for the ring, monthly gifts, flowers, plane tickets, train tickets and I bought her son an apartment; Yes I would do it all again.

    She is awesome..............Larry

  12. Hello Everyone:

Thanks for the notes. I am sorry if it bothered some of you what I said about the money. The money is not important to me, I was just making a point, I would spend it all again and a million if I had it and had to. She is the most awesome women I have ever met in my life. I love her dearly I am just so upset right now. Up until 2 days ago I was floating on cloud nine. No she doesn't want me to hold her at the moment so I will just try and be patient and give her the space she wants. It is difficult and it breaks my heart that I can't hold her and comfort her.

    Larry
