Hi, when i got the email yesterday stating that the mail was undelivered, I said no freaking way. So I called USCIS talked with a lady read her my new update and she said well all I can do is fill out a case report and send it back off to where it was issued
I said can you tell me the address on file, she said not until after 30 days which is really close now. She said I will let you talk with someone regarding the track number if you want to see what happen. So I got the tracking number, went to USPS looked it up and sure enough it was sent out on June 15th and undelivered on June 17 no reason, and sent back and they received it June 27th. So I called USPS and she told me when it reads undelivered she said most likely the address was wrong or some times they just cannot read the information on the form due to whatever reasons. I pulled out all my forms to make sure I had the correct address on all the forms and they were fine on my end.
What makes me so angry about this process, right now there are open jobs available for my husband to look into and they are hiring as of now, and he would have a good chance of getting one of these as they hire so many international people (actually about 70% of them are from other countries.
I cannot even begin to tell all of you how patient my husband has been through all of this. Sitting at home countless hours while I work, bored as they all get, but he never gets upset and continues on each day with a smile. I have been very lucky to have someone comfort me through this entire process and give me hope that all will be okay.
Thanks for the replies.

The same thing happened to cousin's husband..His card was sent on june 10th and he still has not received it,probably because someone took it upon them self to determine that it was undeliverable, even though he's gotten mail before and not had a problem.

Did you order it online. I did a quick search of NY 'register of deeds' and didn't see it but it was again an extremely quick search.
no I just walked in..plus remember if you send them the original of anything they may keep it.

To answer Delaw's concern, my wife knows about my finances, we however do not have a joint account yet, because she does not have a social security number yet. It has been 6 weeks since we applied, and when we called them back after a month to see whats taking so long, the rep in the office said that it could take from 4 weeks to six months. So unfortunately, I cannot add her on any of my documents because they all require a ssn. I don't know what to do, I am sure if her interview comes up before the ssn is issued, we will have to explain ourselves to the officer.
they only want a letter from your bank basically saying what type of account you have and how long the account has been open..the employment letter just needs to say when you started working there ,if your position is full or partime and what your pay is( i.e. $20/hr)...theses are not optional requests either..whether you make the poverty guidelines or not..you need to send these things in.

MY I-130 was accepted months ago and i sent out my i-485 application (greencard through marriage)
My i-485 now is in interview status, i received the letter june (might have been june 2nd or 3rd, the letter is mailed out june 1st). my initial interview was scheduled for june 30, tomorrow.
about 6 weeks ago my wife's employer started a project which requires her going overseas for 2 weeks. they bought her ticket and hotel accomodations and have spent over $20,000 on just ticket and other accomodations for her. we have sent all this documentation to uscis as proof of her employer and their intent to have her on this business project overseas.
subsequently i recieved my notice for initial interview from USCIS around june 1 telling us of the june 30 interview. i have since called and written to uscis ( about this matter and they have told me that they will reschedule (verbally told me) but i have nothing in the mail yet. they had also requested proof of her itinerary which we had previously sent, and we gladly sent those documents to them again.
i checked my mail today hoping to have something in the mail from them, but nothing. on the phone they said they would send a letter to my local service center requesting reschedule, and that usually they reschedule with no problem, but tomorrow is june 30th and my wife is obviously not here.
have you tried scheduling an infopass? but yeah like everyone else I'd still go to the interview.
i am in panic mode as i do not know what i should do now.
go by myself and explain the situation???
HELP!!!!!!

Have to hurry cause I'm at work. I need a certified copy of my marriage certificate for NVC, I also wanted to send one to my husband for the interview and keep the original safe here.
From my research it looks like a marriage record for NYC for visa/international purposes has to be taken to additional locations to have the signature authenticated. Does anyone know anything about this? I am freaking out. How do I get the document if I don't live in New York. My husband and I got married in Central Park as a meeting point for his family from England and mine from Georgia (where I currently am. Oh #######!
The original does not have any offical seals or special signatures so I don't even think that would work.
you need to get a certified copy of your marriage certificate from the registrar of deeds in new york. I got mine in 10 minutes ( i live in north carolina )..now about the authentication stuff I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will help you out .

hi i have a similar question. im planning to travel in Sep and my passport still has my maiden name but my marriage certificate is also in my maiden name because when we were applying for the marriage license it just asked to put my current last name and not any other. Can i still use my marriage certificate to change my name in the SSA Office and also use it for travel because i am apply for AP and i put my married name in it.
Oh and should i put my married name on the forms I-485, I-131, and I-765?
your marriage certificate is in your maiden because that was your name at the time..not a problem just take it with you to the SSA Office..and to answer your second question it depends on what you want it to say on your greencard,if you plan on going by your married name just fill out the forms using your married name.

I used to be on visajourney all the time when I was in the earlier stages of the immigration process, but it's been a while and I am feeling extremely lost now that I've been out of the immigration loop for so long. I am sure this is in the wrong forum, but I'm not sure which forum to put this in, so I apologize ahead of time to the admin who has to move this.
Background: My husband is currently a 2-year Green Card holder and we will be adjusting status later on this year (I think his card expires in November but I need to check to be sure). We are expecting a baby in September, but we may have a little one coming into our lives as soon as August. I was/am my husband's sponsor in the process of obtaining his 2-year green card. I am a full-time college student and I work full-time as a Paralegal but my employer refuses to offer insurance because he's cheap. My husband works a regular part-time job and he is now able to get insurance through work for our family effective in January. I am currently covered under my dad's insurance because I'm also a full-time student, but the insurance does not cover my husband, my pregnancy nor will it cover my baby when he/she comes.
The situation: I am trying to explore my options as far as assistance that I can look into for between now and January when my husband's insurance will kick in. Since I have no coverage from my dad's insurance for my pregnancy, all of the medical expenses for me and the baby are coming directly out of pocket and it is making things extremely difficult. I don't know if I'm even eligible to apply for medicaid/medicare for me and/or the baby because of my husband's immigration status being obtained with me as his sponsor. I assume that I could apply for assistance for the baby, but I'm not sure about applying for it for myself... Does anybody happen to be familiar with this? I thought I had read somewhere during AOS that neither the sponsor nor the dependent could apply for public assistance of any kind without jeopardizing the status of the noncitizen... Any solid suggestions would be wonderful.
Thanks,
[/quot
You should apply for medicaid and wic..your husbands legal status is irrelevant to that process.

If you're approved at the interview you can get an I-551 stamp in your passport that serves as a temporary passport. Some people like to get it, one of the benefits of an interview BUT even those approved without interview can take their letter to an INFOPASS and ask for a stamp which they MIGHT or might NOT give you. They seem to be giving them out less and less. Some people like getting the stamp because they want to start getting work, or a drivers licence and what not and want to get started ASAP
Do you think I can just show up with my letter and infopass weeks before my appointment and get my passport stamped seeing as how it'll only take a few seconds? Or will they turn me away ?
-
Why would they stamp your passport? We that don;t have an interview don't have a stamp in passport. You will get your GC in a few weeks.
you get a stamp as proof of approval and in my case if i want to get a license i need proof of my status.the guy at the dmv refused to take my letter saying that it was not sufficient.
-
Thanks, I guess I was soo nervous that I didn't think to request that he stamp my passport, now I have to go back to get it stamped or just hope I get mY GC in the mail ASAP..
