You obtained your GC through marriage to a USC. You will be eligible to apply for naturalization 90 days prior to the 3 year anniversary of your LPR status. That applies as long as you are married to the same person. If not, then it's 5 years minus 90 days.

Based on the info you have given you can apply sometime in March 2012.

Hi,

I entered us in 2006 feb on TN status and got married to us citizen in 2008 and got my conditional pr in June 09. My conditions were recently removed and I got my 10 yr gc. My question is does my tn qualify towards 5 year naturalization? Because technically I have been us resident for over 5 years now. I would appreciate it if some one can answer this. Thanks

Another week passed by without hearing anything from CSC, a little bit worried.

Hang in there dude. It took 114 days total processing time from end to finish for me. I am very positive you will hear something soon. Give it a week or 2.

Did anyone get approved with just a copy of 1040? I did not send the tax transcripts from IRS. Now I am wondering if I will get a RFE. I did make a visit to local IRS office and got the transcripts for the past 3 years and now I am wondering if there is any way i can send USCIS these transcripts to accompany my case docs or should I just wait for their decision.

I had my fingers crossed that we didn't get a RFE as we did for the 2 yr GC. This time seemed to be smooth sailing for me and I am happy to be done with them for a while. Hope you hear something good soon.

Did you send in IRS tax transcripts or just a copy of 1040 form? I am wondering if anyone got approved with just the 1040 copy and not the tax transcript from IRS

Moosker - I'm going to guess some will see approvals happening in August. I pray that everyone waiting patiently at VSC will be approved by the end of September.

Congrats on getting your approval. I think mine should follow pretty soon since i filled couple of days after you from Chicago and also my biometrics was done few days after you in Chicago norwalk office. And coincidentally I am also a Canadian. I hope I don't get a RFE because we only sent 2010 tax returns, but in case I do get a RFE.. we are prepared for it. Getting the copies of the transcripts from IRS office was not a pleasant experience. Just to get my copies it took me 5 hours of waiting in the office and there was hardly any traffic for the time duration I was there. Very upsetting and hope no one has to go through such anguish.

No, you don't have to. They take your picture during biometrics. It clearly states in the instructions for the i751 form.

I was poking around the Dashboard feature on the USCIS website and found some interesting stats on I-751 processing. Maybe this is old news, but I thought I'd share. All data are for April 2011 (the latest month available). I realize it's not good practice to draw conclusions from just one month of data, but I'm going to do it anyway.

1. VSC appears to receive more I-751 petitions.

VSC petitions received for April 2011: 9,741

CSC petitions received for April 2011: 6,890

2. CSC appears to process I-751's more quickly.

VSC petitions completed for April 2011: 5,837

CSC petitions completed for April 2011: 8,388

3. VSC has a MUCH bigger backlog of I-751's to adjudicate.

VSC petitions pending for April 2011: 55,087

CSC petitions pending for April 2011: 18,300

All this is consistent with what we see on VJ. The only thing that surprised me was the fact that VSC receives so many more petitions than CSC. It looks like VSC has more work and I'm guessing probably fewer people to do it.

I don't remember hearing about that location. Try it if you have some spare time. Try not to go right away when it opens. We went at 2pm when it was a little slower for the St.Paul, MN office.

I just read that one of the march fillers tried it for the Chicago location and got turned away. Well, I already had my bio done last month so no point dwelling now. Let's hope we get some good news for rest of the march fillers soon.

I think the biometrics appointment has more to do with how busy your local office is. So if they're quite behind you will have a longer wait when they schedule the appointment.

That makes sense. Thanks for responding! I was doing some rough calculations and it seems like on average it takes between 4-7 weeks after biometrics for your case to get approved. I wonder if Norwalk location in Chicago allows for early bio.

Wow.. some folks who filled way after I did got their approvals already. Is it normal for USCIS to conduct biometrics 2 months after they receive the I751 package? I am the very last one to get my biometrics done for March fillers. It's already been 105 days since filing and majority of the folks were approved before the 90 day mark. Does anyone know how long does it normally take them to run background checks and what not after the biometrics to approve your case? Thanks!
