  1. Hi All,

Hope you are all staying safe during this crazy times.

I have a question regarding approved IR5 visas (Parent of US Citizen) that are pending on medical exam results. Would this visa still be approved after the EO?

My mom had her visa approved on 3/6/2020, her passport was kept at the consulate due to the approval BUT they are still waiting on her medical exam results to finalize the process. The lab results are due on 6/2/2020. The question is .... IS SHE STILL APPROVED? OR will she be banned for good after the 60 days? If any of you can please through some light into this I would appreciate.

Thanks and good luck to us all

  2. Hi All,

My mom just got her immigrant visa approved today HOWEVER it is in contingency. The consulate have not yet received the medical exams result to finalize the process (electronic process). My mom had tuberculosis 30 years ago. She is current healthy and not TB positive but tuberculosis leave a "scar" in the lungs which showed in the xray. Have any of you experience your parent visa been denied because the tuberculosis history? or have any of you experience in this topic to share? I cant take 2 weeks of unknown.

    Thank you for your help

  3. Hi Friends!

I am in the process of bringing my mom to the US as a PR and would like to know if any of you have ever added your PFL (Government Unemployment Compensation for maternity or paternity leave) to your I-864 as part of your total annual income? I was out on maternity leave last year, my employer paid part of my salary while California paid a small percentage of it. Should I add this to the I-864? I mean ...I did get paid by the gov... not too much but I had to include this income to my taxes. I am just scared that this inclusion will be considerate as a gov. assistance  which could cause a possible desqualification to sponsor a new immigrant as of 10/01... I hope I make sense here and hope that one of you can share your experience with this..

    Thanks a lot

    Drie

  4. Hi all,

Hope everyone is having a smooth visa process!

I have a burning question in regards to co-sponsorship for IR-5 visa application. I submitted a petition to bring my mom to the US as a permanent resident 7 months ago, however since then I left my job to be with my baby at home. NOW I am afraid that this change to my application may cause issues during my mom's immigration process. The question is... Can my husband be my moms visa sponsor instead of me? EVEN though I was the one whom started this process and now have ZERO income to prove that I can actually afford to have her here?

I am scared that I have messed up my moms chances after leaving my job.

Any information or testimony of a similar situation will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Hi ALL

I just wanted to confirm if anyone knows where I can find the consulate information where I should send the i-130 parent petition in Brazil? I remember that the consulate in Rio is the one to process such visas but the beneficiary leaves in Sao Paulo. Should I say that I am sending the petition to be processed by Sao Paulo consulate or Rios consulate? This is in regards to question 62.a of the form.  Any thoughts ?

    Thanks in advance

Hi, it is depends of what kind of illness she has. But I don't think it would be a basis for Visa denial. A delay maybe.

I petitioned my mother last year January 2017. She was sick during the petition. I would like here to come over, so I can take care of her. I can't just go home there and stay there. I have to work. I am the bread winner. So, regarding her illness, 2 doctors diagnosed it as lung cancer but we don't know what stage because my mother does not want to do the biopsy. The nodules are spreading very fast. Fast forward, after the case closed, we received an interview date for January 2018. She did her medical test to find out she had a severe tuberculosis. Doctors even told her that she might not able to come here in the US because of the severity of her illness. She is skin and bone. It was depressing. As a normal procedure she had to undergo 8 months treatment. Thanks to God, the antibiotics they gave her was working for the first month she had started taking it. On the second month of treatment, she stopped coughing and her appetite to eat is back. She gain weight each day. She has to complete the months of treatment and completed it on Sept. 25. So, everything went well. She is cured, passed her visa interview, done with PDOS and booked her ticket to arrived here before thanksgiving. I am sharing this to you, to encourage you, that whatever illness she might have, DON't lost HOPE. Keep your FAITH knowing that God is in control. God bless.

What a testimony of success and love you guys have. Thank you for sharing your story here I highly appreciate it! God bless you too

  7. Hi All,

I am a citizen planning to bring my mom to the US, however I am concern that she may have a serious illness. We are not sure of what the illness is yet, we are currently trying to find out more about her diagnose but it could potentially be something that can take awhile to treat. I know that there is a medical exam in the immigration visa process. Would this be something that would cause her visa to be denied?

  8. Is it ok to submit a I-130 an a Adjustment of Status for parents that entered the country on a tourist visa? We are just trying to verify what would work best for us, if they go back home or if we submit the paperwork here and ask for an adjustment of status with travel parole... this is very confusing to me so I just want to triple check before doing something that will harm my parents application.

Will they need to go through the interview and medical exams here? What if they don't speak English yet?

Please feel free to point me to any links or other forums.

    I appreciate your help.

  9. Hi All,

I was wondering if any of you US Citizens have submitted an adjustment of status for your parent while your parent is on B2 visa (Tourist Visa) inside the US? Is it better to wait until my parent is back to my home country to start the process and submit the I-130 separately from the I-485? Or should I simply ask them to wait here while the paperwork is processed and file the I-130 and I-485 together? I appreciate if you could share how this process went for you.
