  1. Nothing....because it is not your responsibility...and if you mean trying to paint an innaccurate picture of the situation in an attempt to fool the VOs...think about this....even the newest VO has been given hours of instruction on the typical fraud being prepetrated in the PI....doctoring up bank accounts, etc, will backfire...and besides.... a bank account can be emptied 5 minutes after visa issuance...money in a bank does not act as a strong tie to one's country....sadly, since about 98% of single Filipinas who come to the US wind up married moments after collecting their baggage, your GF will face incredible scrutiny and the VO will wonder why she is in the 2%.....any input from you would only make it worse, not better.

so basically unless you have connections somehow, you will not get approved. Thats what i thought.

  2. What kind of things do you need to get a visitor visa for a filipina. My gf is in college. How much money does she need in the bank and for how long? What other requirements are there? Just point me in the right direction i want her to visit here. Thanks to all :help:

  3. We just got our 1 year extension NOA for the 751 form. It says right in the letter conditional residents wont get the biometrics appointment. I guess when we did it the first time for the 2 year green card was good enough. Too bad I already sent the extra 80 bucks. I wonder if I'll ever get it back. When we travel do we use the NOA letter to show the green card is approved. Any help appreciated.

Hmmm, I have never heard of this either... . Everyone (on this site at least) appears to have to redo the biometircs when they file the I-751. Maybe they are changing the system, but one thing they do at biometrics s take the picture they put on your Green Card...

Like Kathryn asked, maybe you could type out exactly what it says on the letter.

One question, did you submit your package to Vermont?

    Kiki :star:

I sent my package to Mesquite texas like it said for my area. The letter i got is from vermont service center. I think the note is for conditional resident applicants only that dont get the ASC letter. It later says down below what to do after you recieve your biometrics appointment.

  4. I believe the OP may have read through the NOA1 letter rather quickly, and may have missed an earlier part of the letter which says that a biometrics appointment will be sent soon. A little bit later it says that those outside the US pursuant to government orders do not have to do the biometrics etc etc.

    At least, that's my guess.

here's the middle paragraph of the NOA, right after it says you will recieve a seperate ASC letter for the biometrics appointment.

"NOTE: Condtional resident applicants, including conditional dependents residing overseas pursuant to military or government orders WILL NOT RECEIVE and ASC appointment notice. To complete biometric processing, these applicants must submit the required items listed on the I=751 form instructions."

Sounds conflicting doesnt it. Maybe i'm not a conditional resident applicant. Further down it again talks about reciept of your ASC appointment and viewing the case status online. I guess the NOTE is just confusing

  5. We just got our 1 year extension NOA for the 751 form. It says right in the letter conditional residents wont get the biometrics appointment and just supply the documents listed in the form instructions to complete biometric proccesing. I guess when we did biometrics the first time for the 2 year green card was good enough. Too bad I already sent the extra 80 bucks. I wonder if I'll ever get it back. When we travel do we use the NOA letter to show the green card is approved. Any help appreciated.

  8. Hey has anybody ever lost a Thai passport? I'm still waiting for mine from the Japanese embassy. Today is Friday and they said they sent it last Monday. They require you to send them the passport to get a transit visa, which I required. I hope it doesn't require too much paperwork. Maybe it will show up in a few more days but just wanted to ask. Thanks everyone.

  9. I fly standby so my wife has a thai passport with a green card. They won't let us fly through tokyo witout a transit visa so how do i get one? Thanks all!

If the passengers of an airplane or ship that lands at an airport or seaport in Japan wish to enter Japan temporarily for shopping or rest, they can receive special landing permission from the immigration authority at the port of arrival even if they do not possess a visa.

In principle, applications for such special landing permission are made not by the foreigners wishing to enter Japan themselves but by the captain of their airplane or ship or by the carrier (transportation company) operating the flight or voyage. When special landing permission is granted, the foreigners concerned are not given any status of residence or period of stay, but restrictions on landing time and scope of movement are stipulated as conditions for permission. Also, special landing permission is not granted if the applicant will be returning to his or her place of departure (for example, coming from Hawaii and then returning to Hawaii).

Please note that these permits are for very short stays, they cannot be extended, and the route to be followed in transit, etc. is subject to restrictions. If foreigners wish to travel in Japan, they are recommended to acquire a transit visa or a short-term visa before coming to Japan.

For more details concerning special landing permission, please inquire at the nearest immigration authority.

There is more information on that site

Unfortunately Thailand airport won't let you fly through Tokyo without an american passport, unless you have a paid for ticket which i don't have ( I fly standby as an airline employee).

  10. Hello all, how do you renew a Thai passport? We are going back to Bangkok in April and i hear it only takes a couple days at the embassy. I am afraid to let go of it while we are on this trip cause what if they lose it or there is a delay??? Then we can't leave.

Also, does anybody know how to get a transit visa for Tokyo? I fly standby and they won't let me go through Tokyo without it (they do let me go through on the way TO bangkok however).

  11. What's this about a departure card? I don't understand. Departure card for what country??? For who?

    Mike

Hey Mike, Its the departure card for your fiance from Thailand. Get it at the ticket counter in BKK. You will recieve your arrival/departure card when you leave the USA.

Your fiance will still have the arrival portion of the card after she leaves thailand but yours was used when you got to BKK. Make sure you save the rest of her card for the next time she goes back to Thailand. Sometimes they complain when you go back and don't have it for them. My wife lost her's but they still let us in. Let me know if this clears things up.

  12. Hey there Erin. Getting the ticket is easy. All you need is her passport and visa. Don't forget the departure card when you check in in Bangkok. You will already have one from when you came to thailand but she wont. Good luck, Kirk n Jenny

Thanks to Bill for the BKK embassy website links, I had been on there but somehow missed those very important pages. Thanks to Yodrak also for good information.

I have another question and am glad we have this community where I can ask Thailand-specific questions. Where it asks on various forms (G325A etc) for address (number and street), we can use the house number and neighborhood (Moo) number right? That's what we use for mail and we don't know the names of some streets, especially for the former residences and former employers. For example:

Number and street: 55/129 Moo 12, Tambon Sansai Noi

    City: A. Sansai

    State/province: Chiang Mai

    Country: Thailand

I just want to be sure there's no problems on the forms, I'm sure you all understand that!

    Thanks

    Erin

    Hi Erin

you can also write the address as below

    55/129 M.12

    Sansai Noi, Sansai

    Chiang Mai

sometiems even in Thai I leave out the word Tambon or Ampour too. my mail normally arrive fine .. But you can also go to the post office and ask them for the best way to write in English too. :D

My fiancee just had her interview and was approved today. They told her to pick it up the next morning. What information do I need to buy her plane tickets? I assume I need her name and birthdate. Do I need a visa number or anything else from her? I was planning to go pick her up at the end of the month if possible.
