  1. Yes, after her visitors visa (i-94) is up, she would need to return home - then wait for the K-3 to go through (I would suggest to do the CR-1 - better).

She can visit multiple times till they get the actual CR-1)K-3) visa,

Thank you for the advice. I am not very familiar with the CR-1. What is it? Will she be able to come here to get married, then have to leave as soon as they file, or as soon as the 6 months are up?

  2. My husband and I are VERY familiar with this site, as we filed a K-1 visa three years ago. My question is for a friend of mine. He met his fiance while working in S. Korea as a teacher. They got engaged, and now he is in the United States and she is still in South Korea. He asked my advice on what he should do, and unfortunately, I am not very familiar with the K-3 visa, so I don't know how to answer him. Their plans are for her to come over here on a 6 month tourist visa, and get married in those six months and process the K-3. I am under the assumption that she would have to go home while her K-3 is processing...is this correct? They are planning the wedding for four months from now, and I am not sure that is enough time. Please let me know what advice I can give him. Thank you for your help!

  3. We didn't submit a ton of evidence for the K-1, and even if we had, by the time we filed for AOS, all of that evidence was at least a year old.

Maybe you didn't submit a LOT of evidence, but we did. I believe that's part of the reason it went so fast. And although it was a year old by the time it was approved, that doesn't matter. That means one more year of being together. It doesn't matter. It was a just a question

  4. rebeccajo posted a memo a while back and whether you're transferred and approved without an interview determined not by the legitimacy of your relationship (K-1 adjusters don't have to submit proof of relationship at all, so how would they know?), but by how backed up your service center is. We were transferred because Hartford is slow.

We had to submit proof of relationship when we first filed our K-1. All of that was transfered with our case. That is what the interviewer in London (for the K-1) told us. So we actually did submit a TON of evidence. I lived over there while studying abroad and after. We even had a lease together. I dont' know if that is why we didn't have an interview, but that's what I was wondering.

  7. Hey Everyone! I think our EAD was approved today, but it doesn't actually say it in the case status. It says....

Application Type: I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

    Current Status: Card production ordered.

On July 18, 2007, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

Does this mean it has been approved? I am guessing it does, but don't want to take any chances! How long should we expect it to take before the card is here??? I would appreciate any help!

  8. Could someone please help clear something up for me. I am filing form I-485 (AOS) with form I-765 (work authorization). On the work authorization form, it says to mail it to Nebraska if you are sending form I-845, I-765 and I-140. What is the I-140, and do I send the I-485 and I-765 to Nebraska or Chicago? Please help me! I would like to send it out today, so any help would be great! Thanks!

  9. I know we have 90 days to get married on a K-1 Visa...is that 90 days to get married or 90 days to have all of the paperwork (including marriage license) filed. We were told by the Clerk's office that it will take up to 3 weeks to get a certified copy of the marriage license once we are married, so we are worried that we will be married iwthin the 90 days but may not have the paperwork back. Please let me know if you have any information on this. That would mean we would only have about 70 days from the time he entered the country to get married. Thank you for your help

  10. My fiance just came over here from England. He flew into O'Hare in Chicago and did not get a temporary work visa. Does anyone have any ideas for work while he's here? We have posted on Craigslist, but we are looking for any help you can give us. We also want to know how we go about getting a social security number. Can we do this before we are married, and if so, where and when? Once we have the social security number, can he get his drivers license? Please give us any help you can! Thanks

  11. I know that the K-1 visa is only good for one entry within 6 months of getting it. My question is that my boyfriend and I have had some problems lately, nad we don't want to use the visa. Can he come into the country as a tourist and not use the k-1, and then if we want to, can he use the k-1 a couple of months later? We have until April. This just all sucks! We were so close to being together. After four years of long-distance, he had to mess up so close! Please give me any information you have!
